I know it's not too local but there's the 6.66 Mile Devils Chase in Salem, MA at the end of October. I think I may do that one. Mostly just for fun and a chance to dress up a little.

Holly

OK, I finally got a minute to check this one out. Um, heck yeah! I will absolutely do this, too! Sounds like SO much fun. And, a chance to try out running in a costume before PHM. Thank you, Holly!!!

Um, WOW! Because, yes, pushing a toddler in a jogging stroller is not easy, but running with a regular stroller is an arm killer! What is is about the jogging stroller that he doesn't like? My little guy loves it - calls is "his" stroller and usually falls asleep in it! So, I'm lucky that way. However, I can't wait until preschool starts again after Labor Day so that I can actually get a few runs in without having to deal with it. I call the jogging stroller my "frenemy" - best invention ever for a running mom, but it still makes it a lot harder! Great pace in this heat and humidity, especially with 2 min. walk intervals!:cheer2:

I have no idea why he doesn't like it. I guess it's just that it's new. He has a Chicco regular stroller that he's been taken on a walk in almost every day of his life, so he's super happy in that one. I've got to figure out how to acclimate him (bribery???) to the jogging stroller. It doesn't help that he's 20 months old and is in the terrible twos already - no is his favorite word at the moment.

Booked rooms for this trip today...We're staying at Coronado 2/22-2/27! It's so far away, but I get so excited when I book! I have the ADRs I want all lined out too...just waiting for that window to open up! :woohoo:

Oh, but BF and I still haven't registered for the race  Probably will in a few weeks...definitely before the first price increase!

I love love love Coronado! We need two rooms for this trip, so we're staying at the cabins at Ft Wilderness.

Speaking of ADRs, since I live less than 3 hours from Disney, we usually do last minute trips, definitely not planned out this far in advance, so I'm not used to the 180 day window. I read somewhere that if you're staying on site, you can book ADR's 180 days from when you check into your room, but for the length of your trip. Anyone know how that works? Do you have to call or can you do it online?

Yes. Bribery. When I moved my kid from her regular stroller to the jogger she wasn't super keen about it. So I bribed her with all her favorite snacks and toys. We are like a rolling restaurant when we go out. Occasionally I will even bring our tablet and let her watch movies while I jog. I use velcro straps to hook it to her tray so she can't chuck it as I run.

It'll be our first time at Coronado...I've always wanted to stay there and for one reason or another we always end up somewhere else. I was thisclose to booking Caribbean Beach instead...it's my favorite Mod, but I finally said, no, I'm trying Coronado FOR SURE this time! I'm excited to see something new!

And you CAN book 180 days out from your check in date, for up to the first 10 days of your stay....so that date is coming up soon for alot of us checking in race weekend! You can do it online or on the phone...just need your room confirmation number with the valid check-in date.

I was told it's 180 day but also you can book 10 earlier if you are on property. I just know for me it will be a early morning.
I believe it's (Eastern) 6:00 am for online, 7:00 for phone reservations. Our date is coming up on Saturday Aug 25. However, since we are in California I have to deal with the time change and I will be getting up at 3:00 am to try and get our dining taken care of. I figure if I have trouble with the online process I'll just stay up a hour to speak with a CM on the phone. Then I can only hope I can go and get back to sleep. :confused3

So I registered today and got my fight there (thank you Jet Blue Points) For now I'm apparently homeless and staying.:rotfl2:

Making reservations at POFQ or POR in the next few weeks.

Anyone who thinks they are running slowly, me included, just keep in mind that you are running faster than everyone who is sitting on their couch!

We are also registered for our 3rd Princess Half and will be going Coast to Coast at the Disneyland Half. This will be my second C to C and my daughters first! Can't wait!

I keep going back and forth on signing up for the Royal Family 5K on Saturday. I think it would be fun just to walk it and get some pics. My question is what do you all think would be an okay time to make a reservation for breakfast? I'm thinking either Boma's or Kona's. I haven't done either for breakfast yet.

Oh, and I have no problem going straight from the race to breakfast. I figure I won't get much sweatier than if I had been walking around the parks. :rotfl: If we do Kona's then we can just hop on the monorail, so I could probably make that reservation a little earlier. To do Boma's, we'd have to hop on a bus. Of course, I haven't discussed any of this with my friend who's joining me, but she's not a planner and we'll be seeing each other in a few weeks for a short vacation, so I figured I'd discuss all of this with her then.

If I do the race/breakfast, then my plan for the rest of the day is to enjoy the pool and relax at AoA until dinner. If I don't do the race/breakfast, then I'm thinking Hollywood Studios for a short day.

thanks for any thoughts

Holly

I don't have an answer for you, but hoping someone will chime in. I have the same question, but didn't see anyone respond to you.

Loved Ft. Wilderness! It was perfect for our family on my kids' first Disney trip and I liked being somewhere where there was a resort "feel" - housekeeping, restaurant on property, et cetera - but that we had space where I didn't have to worry about my kids making too much noise or being cooped up inside a hotel room sometimes. The sing-a-long and movies on the big screen at night were fun - we just put the kids in their PJ's and went.

I could think of worse places to be homeless..... Stayed at POFQ last year and loved it.

Realized the benefits of peer pressure on my run this morning! I have been off track all summer but this week, with the kids back in school, I am ON IT! Today was 4 miles, the longest I have run in a looooong time. I passed a friend I hadn't seen in ages out on the path. I knew there was a good chance I would see him again on the way back. Sure enough, RIGHT AFTER I started running again from my walk break, he pops back into view coming from the opp. direction. SO glad he didn't see me walking, and since my legs were a little fresher, I could run a little faster. He said, "Man, you are MOVING!" as he passed me. Um, yeah, you know, I AM kind of a big deal.... :rotfl2: Glad to slow again once he got out of view......:)

I am registered for the Princess Half!!!:woohoo:

I am finallly posting on this thread! I've been reading here and there and there is so much great information, and lots of inspiring posts.

This will be my first half marathon! I have done two races so far- the Tangled 5K in 2012 and a local 4 mile memorial scholarship run/walk this month (so HOT!!!). I loved both of them, and hope to sign up for a couple of 5K & 10K races in the fall.

I have been at Disney during Feb break / Princess weekend the last two years. Seeing all the princesses (and realizing how out of shape I was after a few days of walking Disney!:scared:) inspired me to start exercising again. After the 2011 trip I read a report from a walker who had done the 5k. I mapped the distance & figured I could walk that, so I started walking. Which eventually turned to walk/run. I still mostly walk with some running, and I'm still really slow.

I will be at Disney with my teenage daughter, though she won't be running. She wants to stay in a Nemo room at AofA. But its more expensive than a mod and it will just be the two of us. I guess its between a Nemo or Mermaid room at Art or one of the Port Orleans resorts. Haven't decided yet! :confused3 My Dad & stepMom live in Florida so they may join us for part of the trip, but always stay at their time share off site.

My motto is "no pain, no princess"!:cutie:

Love this!!!

I did the Lowell 10k last year on Thanksgiving Day, I also saw the devils chase 666 and was thinking about signing up for that this year to use as my 10k time. As I am sure The Rockfest will not be a time that I will want to use either. There is also Tufts 10k in Boston on Columbus day which is a Monday

I was looking at the Tufts, it looks like it would be fun. I don't have Columbus day off though. I either work (at time and a half pay) or I'd have to take a vacation day. Its tough to give up time and a half pay. :sad2: I was thinking of making it a weekend in Boston trip, but realized my son has SATs that Saturday. Still thinking about it though! I am in RI so am the opposite direction from you on the MA races.

I was so bummed on my walk/run this morning. All week the weather guys said it would be cool (72 degrees) Saturday morning. I walked outside and the air was so thick and still that I could barely breathe! Seriously, who was I kidding...

A cold front...

In Dallas...

In August!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Also, in our neighborhood, we have peacocks that roam around. What happened this morning?

No peacocks...

No pea hens...

No pea chicks...

No feathers to pick up.

:sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

But, am I sad? No sir, I am not. I finally broke into a 16 m/m!!! That is something to cheer about!:cheer2:
