I've been reading through this thread but it will take ew days to get through all of it. I had surgery on both feet in December and made it my goal to run the Princess 1/2. Hubby said he would do it with me. So after a few issues with getting started, we are in. I signed us up yesterday and I also signed us up for a local 5K that is in September. We haven't been to Disney since 1990 when our kids were babies. Now they are grown up and it will only be DH and me going. I am a little nervous but I have walked every day this week except today (used the eliptical instead). I was having some foot pain and wanted to give my feet a little rest.

We are both excited about this challenge and I figure I will be in better shape at 43 (though I will turn 44 the weekend of the race) than I was at 23. Looking forward to getting to know all of you.:)

There is a new machine at my gym that I love. It's called NuStep. It's a recumbent elliptical machine. It's basically an elliptical that you sit on. You get the same type of work out at standing but less impact. It's great for me since one of the complications from my surgery was drop foot. There are days when my foot still drags and causes me pain do treadmill on those days are not good. Not trying to sound like a commercial for them but I do love it. They used it in Biggest Loser and Extreme Makeover Weight Loss.

Hi All!
I registered yesterday for the half marathon and booked my hotel (Port Orleans, Riverside). It's my first time and I am doing it alone! I am nervous (terrified actually) and so excited at the same time. Has anyone else ran/walked alone?

You won't be alone! As I was told, there will be 20,000+ Princesses with you! And I prefer running alone because then I don't have to worry about slowing anyone down!

Hi everyone! It's been a really long few months. After being all registered for the 2012 Princess (with hubby), a breast cancer diagnosis totally derailed me. I had bilateral mastectomies in mid-January, came to WDW to watch hubby and daughter-in-law run the Princess (I think I cried the whole time!), started chemo March 1, resumed running (sort of) around the beginning of June. The race folks deferred my 2012 registration to 2013, and hubby just registered yesterday. Now I'm so excited I can't stand it!! Hope to run a half at the Outer Banks in November, just to make sure I can still do it. Now the problem is two-fold: where to stay and how much can we afford. We LOVE the Polynesian but rented points to use at Animal Kingdom last February and really enjoyed it. How to decide..... :confused3 I can't call WDW yet until we have some idea of budget and chemo brain makes this stuff even harder! Now if my hair would just grow back - I will need it to hold a tiara. ;)

Great news and so glad you are doing 2013!!

This is GREAT!!! I didn't even think about all the ways the family would benefit if we stayed at CR! I was leaning towards CR, but I think this put it over the edge for me! (Would they be able to cheer me on from the Hill of Death area, or only in front of the resort itself?)

This is what I'm looking forward to - I want to run this race alone (see above), but to not BE alone, kwim?

I don't think they can get all the way to the hill though I am not sure. I don't know if the sidewalk goes that far but CR is right on the other side!!

I won't be running in 2013, but my goal is to run the Princess Half in 2014, so figured I'd post here and maybe make some new friends with some of the annual runners.

Thanks for all the encouragement about POFQ, guys! You have me convinced it's a good choice! ...now just hoping free dining comes up for at least part of our stay...could we be so lucky?!

Any other Princesses staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort ??

Race and Room is taken care of. SWA has not opened their schedule up for the date of the race yet.....so what else can a Princess do to pass the time ??
My training is getting ready for the Disneyland 1/2. This Princess need some more vacation/race planning ideas.:rotfl:

Really !!!! I'm surprised, I thought we would have to wait till the end of summer. That is good news.

What is SWA? I am curious!

I wish the deals were better! sigh. POR probably is where we will end up. I loved POFQ last year, but so far......no good deals.

Well DUH......though here in the land of Delta and AirTran, never considered SWA...until recently when they bought AirTran and started flying out of ATL....um BRING ON THE DEALS!

Sorry--(SWA) Southwest airlines. Free baggage check !!!! For someone who overpacks for the entire family it's a added bonus.

Southwest is great. If for some reason, you are unable to make a flight or need to cancel, it is banked and you can use the points within a year. If you need to change your flight there is no charge, just pay the difference (if any). And they are always so friendly :)
I always find great deals if I book early.

Wow, Pattie - thank you for sharing your story. You truly are an inspiration. I can't wait to see your beautiful tiara on your beautiful hair.

Well I registered for the Princess half yesterday. Now comes the task of trying to convince my parents to let me do the Marathon trip and come back in Feb for the Princess half. As of right now the trip is a backup in case our Jan trip falls through for some reason I'm hoping that will change and become another trip to Disney (having APs at that point will help I think). And not have my running trainer look at me like I've gone crazy. I'll let you guys know what happens and hopefully I'll be back for 2013 (and yes I will update my TR from the last Princess half sometime this weekend, I promise, I keep forgetting).

I'm officially signed up for the Princess Half!!! I have been saying that I wanted to run it for the last 4 years so I figured the 5th anniversary would be a great time to do it.

I have no idea who I'm going with or where I'm staying but I am signed up, so that is a start:)

I say that is a great start!!! The rest you can figure out as you go!

I was not a runner before I started training for Disney Princess Half marathon. My husband ran the NYC marathon a few years ago and I swore I would never train that hard, but here I am training for the Princess half. To be honest, I was inspired by the medals. So for those of you experienced Princess Half Marathon runner, I have a few questions:

I am a DVC member so where would be the best place to stay? I called DVC yesterday and they said all the resorts this year will be participating in the marathon.

Which cheer package would be the best for family to purchase?

Is the pasta dinner worth it?

Thanks
