Well, I finished my first 10K yesterday:cool1: 1 hour and "40seconds"...guess I should've really sprinted that last .2 miles:rotfl: But I'm very happy with the result! I didn't think it will be that close to 1 hour since I have yet to run a 5K race in under 30minutes.

It had been pouring the day before the race, and today it's raining again (and from the forecast, it'll be like this for the rest of the week here...), but yesterday was gorgeous! I got lucky ;)

My next goal is half marathon in September! My reward is PHM next year...can't wait!!

By the way, if my 10K time is 1:00:40, would I be somewhere in Corral C? Just curious...I'm sure it depends on how many people sign up too so I guess I won't know for sure till I register.

the race cap # will have something to do with it, but for the 2011 PHM I turned in a 1:07 10k time and was in B, so I think you'd at least be in B...maybe even A? It also helps if they are starting males in C and further back since statistically alot of them are faster than alot of women...that'll help bump some of the females up. There's no way to know for sure until you get your bib though...PHM was my first half ever, 2:32 finish time...I've used that same time for 3 other Disney halfs since then and have been placed in A, B and C...A was at Tink, where I believe males started in B or C, so you can see how that really does help to bump you up! (B was at Wine & Dine and C was at the DL half.)

Registration begins in five weeks!

A question for those veteran princesses -- I am interested in signing up for the racer's retreat. When does that become available? I read that it was sold out last year for the PHM. In the past, how long before it sells out?

Hmm I don't remember if it was available on the same day as regular registration. Last year I didn't register for the Princess until August, and it wasn't until September that I finally broke down and got myself the Race Retreat. So don't worry about it selling out the very first day, you will have time :goodvibes

CONGRATULATIONS! Even a newbie like me knows what a great time that is!

ooh I didnt know about this thread! I'm in!

Thanks for the information. I think I'm just at that point where I want to commit myself - afraid that, if I don't strike while the iron is hot, I might chicken out later. Just told my racing buddy about the retreat and she loves the idea, too.

I would love to hear how often everyone runs. I was doing 3 training runs and 1 fun run with my son a week. I was able to move to 4 runs a week plus the fun run, but I noticed that my performance suffered on the second day of back to back running days, so I am thinking about going back to 3 training runs a week, but I would like to do something on my non-running days.

Do any of you cross-train on your non-running days? What do you do to cross-train?

I thought I saw on a posting from last year, that they give you a discount on your resort room at Disney if you register for the Princess 1/2. Is that true and does anyone know what the discount is? I am trying to do some planning for the trip.

Thanks!!!

I am running 7 days a week right now. I joined a facebook group that is "streaking" for the summer. 2 of those days I only run 1 mile.
Usually I run anywhere from 3-5 miles on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Saturday I do a long run of 5-7 miles and that will increase as I train more.
On my mile day runs I usually do weights with dh. Also, right now, I am doing Jillians 30 day shred which is 20 minutes every day.

I'm hoping/planning to run in the Princess Half this year for my first ever half-marathon! I haven't made it through reading this entire thread - but wanted to go ahead and sign on.

Anyone here logging their training on Daily Mile? I just joined - Amy V. in Deer Isle, Maine.

Looking forward to reading all the tips, plans, and encouragement here!

Added you as well. Joined a couple weeks ago and haven't used the site much, but maybe I will now.

I'm planning on having a male running buddy. :) I've finished a 10k race in 56:37. So if I am put in Corral B or even A, will I be allowed to start with C instead? I'm a total newbie to these races, so thanks for the help!

You can move back to be with him, he cannot move up in corrals to be with you. :goodvibes already warned my mom and aunt about this for when I do the ToT next year.

Hey ladies! I feel like I've been so off track this past week with my eating but I've stuck to my running so I'm very proud of myself for that! But I have a question! My husbands in the military so we have to go out of town sometimes so it really effects my eating habits! Does anyone have any advice for eating healthy while not at home? Like on vacation or anything like that? Thank you! And also if anyone has a blog can you let me know so I can follow you? It helps me seeing encouraging words from others! Mine is

Question because I'm new to this whole thing. What does it mean to be at a host resort? Do anyone know roughly what discount is available on hotel if any?

Thanks

The hotels they designate as the "host" hotels for the race will be the only hotels that will provide official race transportation (bus) to and from the expo and races throughout race weekend. If you stay at a non-host you will be responsible for getting to and from the events...rental car, taxi, etc. I think it's definitely easier and much less stressful to use the provided transportation at a host, but I know others use their own car or rental and prefer that. I don't know what the discount is on the rooms though.

Thanks for the dailymile friend requests! It is definitely a motivator for me to know I'm posting my workouts where people can see them.

I'm about 20 pages into reading this thread and have already gotten lots of great tips and advice.

Happy running!

GREAT TIME!!! Keep it up!

I am also waiting for registration so I can officially commit. I am just so excited. I did register for my first 10K (in August). A bunch of friends are running the 5K and are planning to cheer me on, I am not sure I like that since I don't know how I will finish but I am completely excited. I like the races!!!
