Michelle, we are using the Baby bjorn potty here. It is simple, n bells and whistles, grips well the the floor, and is a decent size. The twins are like Will, not telling us when they are wet/poopy or anything..I am just getting them used to the potty and making that connection. Zoe does okay if I can catch her bafore bath or if she wakes up dry from Nap...she sits on the potty and you can kinda see her body pushing/straining as if shes maybe trying to make something come out (I also run water in the sink to encourage them to pee). Sam could give two hoots but he has gone on the potty a couple of times if Icatch him at the right moment!

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is having a good week. Brycen has been doing well. He's decided it's fun to yank his arm away from us now and swing it back and forth. Cameron is getting bigger and bigger, or maybe I'm getting bigger and bigger! Oh well. Only a few more weeks to go. We've finally made room in the garage for all the stuff coming out of Cameron's room. I feel like I've finally got a move on.

Christina - love the beach pictures. Brycen doesn't like to even touch grass so I can't imagine what he will do with sand! Bry looked at the pictures and said 'geo, geo!' when he saw the CG balloon and cake.

JenNH - the big wheel sounds like fun. We got the cozy coupe firetruck for Bry and he doesn't understand the concept of how to go forward. If we try to push him, he just puts his feet down. I guess sitting in it playing the siren is enough for him. I'm glad Christopher's b-day went well.

KellyF - I'm thinking about the swine flu all the time. I cringe when someone coughs near me. But I guess I do that anyway. DH had a briefing at the firehouse last night from the hospital on what will happen if it comes here. Purell anyone?

Stacy - I was trying to convince DH into getting a new swingset but after seeing how much they cost, he told me he likes the old one we have. It's not terrible but it needs some help before Bry really starts to play with it. Love the one you got!

Exwdw - thanks for the welcome. I hope your mom is feeling better soon. I can say that Bry is not ready to learn how to use the potty at all but we bought a few from Ikea to have around. They are similar to the Bjorn ones. He loves to sit on it, but with his pants on. That won't get us very far! He will hide behind a piece of furniture or by the gate when it's time to go #2 so we've tried to catch him and put the potty under him. No luck so far. :rotfl: He doesn't take his clothes off (yet, and that's ok with me!) so I know it will be a while longer. They are only $3.99 so I bought 2 for our home, and one for each grandparents house. Here it is:

I'll check in later this week!

My mom got Brady an elmo potty. You push his hand (like giving him a high five) and it talks. Brady is very into elmo and has started to show interest. It's another no bells and whistles, but elmo is one of his "things" so she got it for him. I have the kiddy seat (elmo of course) for the upstairs bathroom.

He has started to show interest, but I'm not pushing him.

Caleb is doing really well. We went to pedi for a weight check yesterday and he's back to 9lbs. He had lost quite a bit in the hospital even w/tube feeds. We had to put him on Neosure premie formula for the extra calories and that's what's working for him. We go back again on Monday for another weight check. he'll be keeping a closer eye on his weight just to make sure he continues to progress.

He shouldn't have any issues from all he went thru at birth. He said there is a slight increase in his chances for asthma/breathing issues. He said normally people have 10% chance and he'll have a 20% chance. I have asthma and have a strong family history of asthma, so not sure what his percent is with my history, but still...after everything he went thru to up it 10% isn't bad. He said he looks great and he took the bandaid off where his chest tube was. I left it on, didn't want to take it off...it was starting to fall off so he took it off. He really shouldn't have much of a scar. right now he just looks like someone got him with the tip of a pen.

I have not been on much since I got home...big surprise. Trying to skim the pages, but hopefully we'll get into a routine when hubby gets back from Orlando and I'll have more time for the DIS...I need to start planning my dining for our next trip anyways. It's great timing. I have to send my request to conceirge at BWI right after I go back to work...so now is the time to figure out where we want to eat :thumbsup2

Stacy - I am soo happy that Caleb is doing so well. That's great!!

Bethany - Sorry about the insulation this AM. At least it all worked out and now you will be cool/warm and saving money!!

Jen - One of DS's first words was "Gee Gee" for Curious George. He LOVES the movie!!

Michelle - We also have the Baby Bjorn potty. DS shows interest in it and is starting to tell me when he needs a new diaper. He doesn't dress himself or take his clothes off with an regularity so we aren't pushing it. We are going through a lot of changes in the next few months so we are planning on holding off until we buy a house and settle down around 2.5 to really start the training.

Nicole -

DMickey - great beach and b-day pictures, looks like Alexander had a great time!

Jen - Happy B-day Christopher! Alex can reach the pedals on his tricycle, but he still won't use them unless I put his feet on.

Kelly - I don't think I would let any flu get in the way of a trip to Disney!

Bethany - what a headached with the insulation, but it must be good to finally have it done.

Michelle - have fun on your cruise if we don't "see" you again before you leave! We're all doing better here, antibiotics wiped out all the ear and sinus infections. We use one of those inserts that goes on top of the regular toilet for Alex (though he almost never wants to sit on it anymore), because he's always into doing things like Mommy and Daddy so I didn't think he would like the little potty.

ShootingStarMom - It must be a relief to finally have Cameron's room cleaned out! Alex did the same thing with his cozy coupe at first, but he figured it out after a few tries. My husband actually attached a little piece of cardboard to the bottom so he could put his feet up and be pushed in it, but once he figured out how to make it go himself, that got in the way so we took it off.

Stacy - sounds like Caleb is doing well! Have fun dining planning - that's one of my favorite parts of the trip!

Hi everyone!

For all of you non-facebookers, Christopher has chicken pox. I thought it was just a few bug bites yesterday, but they blistered today. Definitely chicken pox. I'm off to buy some calamine and oatmeal baths.

Hope you all are well.

This is always my biggest fear... my son getting chicken pox. I've had the vaccine as an adult but it still scares me. I hope Christopher gets well soon!

Kellyf, try not to worry about the swine flu. It's the flu no big deal ;) Seriously try not to fret about it. We leave for WDW next week. Decided that it isn't any thing to really worry about. We'll go and have a blast!

I cannot believe how big some of the kids are getting.

Oops... time to brush teeth and read a book. thought I'd have more time to post.

not sure I'll get back in before we leave either. Hope you all are having a great day!

Brady had them this time last year. We believe he caught them at WDW, based on when they broke out after we got home.

I hope Christopher feels better soon!!

Spring is reportedly the most active season for them, and there are certainly a lot of cases going around here.

He's feeling OK, but there's one chicken pox between his toes that driving him nuts. good thing he can't take off his shoes until I untie them!

Poor Christopher! I hope it's a mild case - that one between his toes must be driving him crazy! For once I'm glad we're all in different parts of the country ;)

There's a few kids with chickenpox in our area, too. We aren't sure if Owen was exposed or not, but it looks like he wasn't. I was one of those "lucky" kids who had them more than once because the first time was such a light case I didn't develop full immunity. DH didn't get them until high school and he was miserable. And our friends' girls (who have the pox now) were both immunized but still caught them. Go figure.

Well, I think Owen is becoming a one nap kid more often than 2 naps now. The bonus is that he's waking up closer to 7am instead of 5:45am like he used to. :cool1:
And now he's patting my leg and asking for "walk? side? milk? dada? book? snack? kitty? please?" so I'm going to take that for "mom! get off the computer and pay attention to me!"

your kids take naps? Ellery stopped napping at all about a month ago. :(

Caleb is really wierd about his naps. He will most of the time barely take naps for MIL when she has him during the week. He might sleep 30 min or so at a time...not much. So he crashes around 7pm at night and sleeps until 7am most mornings. She rocks him to sleep (doesn;t seem to like my way of just putting him down and letting him yell until he falls alseep---I guess she;s the grandma she can spoil him;) and I let him cry it out and it does not affect him. She also keeps my almost 3 yr old niece so maybe he thinks he does not want to miss what she is doing...so he really won;t nap much. Maybe SIL's walls are thinner too and not as quiet as it is at home!

But on the weekends or if I am home during the day...he will take about an hour nap or so in the am and this afternoon I laid him down and he took a 3 hr nap...but most of the time it is about a 2 hr nap.

When did you all let your child start putting themself to sleep? We currently hold Allison or rock her until she is asleep and then put her down... I know it isn't a great habit, but she is so darn cute and only 6 weeks old!!

I don't mind doing this now since I will be home for another 2 months or so, but I know this will not be good when she goes to daycare.

Any insight is much appreciated!

Oh Caleb was about 2 1/2 mos old before he started falling asleep on his own but he had acid reflux real bad so actually for awhile he feel asleep on me in our bed and sometimes we slept the night that way because if i woke up and put him down and he had to be dead asleep and he woke up we would have to start all over again. It was so GREAT the day he started to go to sleep on his own in his car seat (which he slept in until he was about 4 mos old because of the reflux) and now he goes to sleep on his own in his crib (which was even better than him going to sleep in our room) It was really nice the day I got to sleep by myself and not a baby sleeping on me!:yay:

It's tough because we hold her upright for about 30 minutes after she eats (asleep or awake) because she tends to spit up if we don't. Our doctor recommended this- not sure how long we will have to do it. So- often times she is already asleep within that time especially early in the morning and late at night. I'm just not sure if it is too early to let her "cry it out" or not.

We have another doctor visit in a week and a half, I guess I can wait until then but DH is starting a new job June 1st and I wanted to have things under control before that time.

I don't know if you saw my post or my FB. Please keep my DH in your prayers and thoughts and send us pixie dust and anything else. My DH had a mild heart attack last night. He is going to be 34 at the end of this month. He is doing well now and he will be fine. Major life changes coming up for us and we are going to do an overhaul.

Thank you.

Oh Christina....I hope everything is ok. I am praying and thinking about your DH and entire family. Please keep us posted...we are all here for you!

sorry to hear that! Hears to a healthy recovery! Better to do a change now then later in life I guess! And appreantly i was not paying that much attention when i commented on facebook and called you amber....Sorry!
I need to get DH to change his eating ways...he is tall and skinny...works in construction so gets a lot of exercise so he thinks he can eat whatever he wants bc he doesn;t put on weight but it cannot be good to his heart. I have told him we are all going to sit down together for dinner and eat healhy meals especially when Caleb is eating table food! I donlt want him to have bad habits!

hotveggy...does she have reflux??? Caleb would be so inconsolible at night due to the reflux and we had to keep him upright too that after awhile i would tuck him into his carseat give him his pacifier and out he would go. He still does that when in the car seat. But after the doctor cleared him from the refux then we moved him into his craddle in our room and then eventually into his crib in his room!
I would probably do things as you have been and then when you go to the dr ask him if she still needs to be upright!

 Oh Christina, I'm so sorry and hang in there. My thoughts are with you guys...and I'm glad your DH is okay. That is scary!

Owen is a good napper, although he's transitioning from 2 naps to 1 so sometimes he needs 2 naps and sometimes he needs 1, and I can't always tell what he wants/needs so we've had some rough afternoons recently. But he does sleep from about 8pm-6:30am, and he isn't waking up at 5:45am anymore, so that's nice.

He really didn't start putting himself to sleep until he was around 5 months old. We tried before then with various forms of cry-it-out, but it didn't work for him until he was between 5-6m. And even then he still preferred to fall asleep nursing. When he was 10m he started on the bedtime routine we have now (change diaper, drink milk, read a story, sing a song, say a prayer, and lay down in his bed with a binky) and he's gotten really great about going to bed with no crying now and falling asleep on his own. He knows exactly how it works, and it really helps when we need him to sleep somewhere other than his crib - I just do the routine and he knows that means it's time to go to sleep and he lays down. VERY thankful for that!:)
