Such a little cutie putting on her make-up on the potty! :cutie: How's the potty-training coming? I still haven't tried with Alex. Though he did the weirdest thing the other day. He was asleep in the car and we had to go in, so I carried him in asleep on my shoulder. He woke up 10 minutes later and when I put him down, he kept saying, "potty, potty" over and over. People were looking at me like, "why don't you take that kid to the potty" but he still wears a diaper and has never used a potty! :confused:

Potty training isn't really coming along at all. :laughing: SHe sits on the potty (sometimes without clothes/diaper), but she hasn't actually "gone" in it. But, I usually give her a sticker for "trying."

I'm not in a hurry about it, really. I figure she's a smart kid, she'll be ready soon enough.

Alex has done that with my bra too. :rotfl2: And LOVE the stride-rite shoes, but only at outlet prices, sorry, but I'm not paying $50 for a pair of shoes he will outgrow in a few months. Alex loves the noise the shoes make on the floor too, and stomps around whenever he has them on! :cool1:

Vaylie does the same thing with my bra! Or she puts it on, which is hilarious. :lmao:

And Stride-Rite- I wish I had an outlet close by; I'm with you though- no way am I paying $50 for shoes she can only wear a couple of months.

I'd love to stay home and be lazy today. But, that's not going to happen.

My sis came over last night- she's taking this whole job thing really well, and she has a great attitude about it. She chose to quit rather than be demoted and continue working there. I don't blame her, especially considering the circumstances. She just said she figures that this happened for a reason, and she doesn't want continue to work for a company that would do this, so- one door closes, another one opens. :)

Good for your sister! :thumbsup2 Just like I said....another door is opening or has opened somewhere!

Well, my husband and I went for our first pregnancy sono and check up. They can totally overwhelm you with all the information they have out there. It's been almost ten years since we had our first but so many advances. They have a "quad" test, a cystic fibrosis test, cord blood banking and none of which is time to test or do but I guess they just give you the information ahead of time. :confused3

Oh well, everything seemed to be good and another 4 weeks before we go back.

There is almost too much information!

(And then of course I was at home looking up everything- big mistake.) I think I knew more about pregnancy and related issues than most of my doctors and nurses. :laughing:

Becky - I love the pictures of Vaylie putting the makeup on. I want a little girl!!! Good for you sister, she def. has the right attitude which will make all the difference in the job search. As for stride rite, I need to head down to the outlet soon. We have all SR shoes. He has only outgrown one pair since March. I buy them a 1/2 up from what he measures and he only has three pairs, one from the outlet. It's worth it to me because he can't fit into regular shoes, he needs the xxw!! We didn't get him real shoes until after he started walking though ... always barefoot! :-)

So we are TTC #2. I stopped BCP last month and we weren't going to really try until the new year but figured what the heck!! Well I am about 10DPO today and *THINK* I got a very very very faint BFP on a Target || test. I re-tested twice and the same results but tried a Target +/- and it was Neg. I am keeping my fingers crossed big time ... pixie dust if you have any to spare would be greatly appreciated. I am going to do the last Target || tomorrow morning and if still a faint line run out for a FRER and others!! I never liked the Target +/- tests anyway!!

:woohoo:

I'll cross mine too! How exciting for you! :wizard: :wizard: <--- Lots of Baby Dust!!

So, I heard a sad story today.

There is a woman named "C" in the town I live in. She just turned 32 and has 4 children, ranging from 8-12. And, she has terminal stomach and colon cancer. It is really bad, apparently. "C" has had a tough life from what I understand- her previous husband beat on her, her current husband left her shortly after they found out about the cancer. She hasn't seen him since March. She can't find him to serve him divorce papers, and she needs a divorce to be able to get more disability income- right now she gets about $400/month.

Her dad helps her as much as he can- he pays for her house, utilities and groceries. But, she has a lot of medical and other bills piling up and no way to pay them, much less think about Christmas. She is very sick from the chemo, and she is inoperable, plus a tumor burst in near her colon, and she has cancerous cells on all of her organs. :sad1:

She called the bank today to discuss stuff related to her situation, and talked to my supervisor (who went to school with her). After my supervisor hung up the phone, she told us what was going on. Well, I left for lunch, came home, and was eating my chicken pot pie, and just thinking to myself- this is probably her last Christmas with her children and she can't afford to even have Christmas- much less be strong enough to go Christmas shopping. I thought- ok, we gotta do something.

So, I got back to work and told the girls- we have to adopt them for Christmas, and of course, they were like, YES! :yay: :goodvibes So, my supervisor called "C" and told her that we had been thinking about this and wanted to adopt them for Christmas. She cried and cried. :lovestruc We told her to get lists from the kids and get their sizes of clothes and shoes, as well. And we asked if we could get anything for her. She said she doesn't really wear any regular clothes- just sweats (she's down to 80lbs and a size 0 is baggy). She did say she would like to have some religious books- she's been reading a lot lately and it's bringing her a lot of comfort. I was thinking maybe we could find a cute hoodie/pants outfit; something comfy but a little more "put together." And she's currently writing books to each of her kids. :sad1: I thought I'd get each of the kids a journal so they can write to their mom, too, or just write to themselves.

SO- ladies: any ideas on what else we could get for them? Or for her? I am going to try to solicit as many donations as I can (from individuals and local businesses)- I want this Christmas to be special for them. My hope is that this is one less worry this family has, and that we can make Christmas joyful and happy for all of them. :santa:

Becky- let me know what she needs or the kids need, i'd love to contribute some gifts. :thumbsup2

DMickey- good luck, fingers and toes crossed for you guys!

I actually put up our tree tonight- i was cleaning and figured i would put it up before i picked up Will since i worked from home this afternoon. i am not getting the decorations or ornaments out yet- probably over thanksgiving. i just wanted to get it up while i had some baby-free time! I will still decorate as always, i just have to be more careful about where i put the breakables.

just found out a friend at my old job got laid off. i am so glad i left! she just signed a new lease on an apt in dallas too- she was considering moving back home to OK, but stayed for the job and now they let her go. ugh!

I started another thread for it, but I have to post this here- my DH really outdid himself tonight. :love:

I got home today, and noticed Christmas lights on in the living room (I could see them in the window).

My DH took 1/2 a day off work to set up the tree and suprise me and DD when we got home!!! (He also cleaned the kitchen floor AND baked a cake!)

We've been needing a little Christmas cheer, and my DD (21 months) is in LOVE with Christmas trees- she was so excited I thought she might burst! She even kissed the tree!

It was the sweetest thing to do, and it reminds me why I said "I do."

Hope everyone else has a wonderful evening.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Michelle- Thank you! :goodvibes And that is too bad about your friend- I feel so bad for people losing their jobs right now. :guilty: It's a good thing you took the new job, though.
Becky - So sorry to hear about "C". If there is anything we can do on here, let us know. I'd be happy to send something as well.
Well, no more lines this AM. I have no idea what that was about last night, it was pretty clear on two tests within 2 minutes. Even DH saw it when he came home. Oh well ... AF isn't due until Monday and if it's a bust ... my next O date is the weekend before I leave DH for a week so we should get some good BD in!! :-)
Well, Brady had his tubes in today. Extremely quick recovery at the hospital. He woke up abou 15-20 minutes after they finished up. He was crying for me. I went in, we stayed in recovery about 15 minutes, up to pedi floor. He sat on my lap for about 10 miniutes in there and wanted to play, we went to the play room and he was completely himself!
They gave him tylenol supp at 8am, and he didn't need any at 12:00...and now he's napping. I guess he had a ton of fluid buildup back there, which we expected, so his hearing was definately impared.
Dmickey- Thanks! I'll let you know as soon as we hear from "C." !! :santa:
Stacy- I'm glad everything went ok! My little brother had tubes put in when he was 2 or 3, and it made a HUGE difference in his hearing and language almost instantly! He kept saying, " 'Sat?" (Like, "what's that?"- he could hear all sorts of things that he never heard before!).
Hubby and i were discussing this am, that he has not shut up all night and day. He actually said "phone daddy" this am, which is new. Normally he'd say daddy and if he didn't say what he'd say phone or rather sing phone...
My oldest had them too, but he was different after, they didn't help him, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
DMickey - I don't know what's up w/those tests, but good luck next month! :goodvibes
Becky - That's terrible for C. I don't have any ideas, but that's great that you & your co-workers are helping out. Oh, and what a sweet DH you have!
Stacy - that's good everything went so well for Brady!
***************
I'm back in AZ today, and is Alex in a funk - he has been such a little pill today! But I'm still glad to be back, and ever more glad to be out of Chicago where it's 16 degrees today!
I LOVE the weekend. :love: I'm ready for some R&R. I wanted to go Christmas shopping, but no one can watch Vaylie and I don't want to take her with us (nothing seems to get accomplished).
I don't have a single present purchased, though, and it's starting to make me crazy! I feel behind (even though it's not Thanksgiving yet!).
Hey Becky~~~I JUST realized you're from IL...I was looking at your info when you said you couldn't get anyone to watch Vaylie and I was going tell you I would, but give me a day or two to get up there! :rotfl2: So you're from IL which is probably one reason why you supported who you did for the election. :rolleyes1 Boy do I feel silly just now noticing that. :eek:
I'm all excited! Christopher had his appointment with Early Intervention, and he does qualify for speech therapy. They're supposed to get in touch with us this week to set up his first appointment.
He was wicked tired yesterday, so I'm guessing he wasn't feeling too hot. He hardly ate anything (which is a HUGE shock), and was in bed by 6:45 last night. He woke up during the night for about an hour before he'd settle back down, and then woke up this morning like nothing was wrong :confused3 At least he was much happier today.
So DH and I actually have 2 days in a row together this week. He's home for the next 2.5 weeks (got to love the end of the year where you have to use or lose all your vacation time!), then works a week and a half, then off for another week. We'll be driving each other crazy pretty quick ;) We're used to only oneof us being home, and maybe having a day together a week. Wish me luck.
Hi ladies sorry I haven't been checking in but I've been reading. Noah is still doing great and we almost have a walker. How long does it take from when they take a step or two before falling and when they are actually walking? He'll let go of stuff and take a step or two before falling down. He's still so young I can't believe I have to start watching for real walking. LOL
Another question for you guys. When do they move to a big kid bed? I know he's too young now but he's been waking up screaming in his crib and once I calm him down he goes back to sleep but we do it again in an hour. The other night I laid him in the full size bed we have in his room and he slept for four hours straight before he got fussy and I moved him to his crib so not sure if he's uncomfortable in the crib or what. I guess my mind always thought that around 2 they moved over but didn't know if there is a reason for it or just a because thats about when you do it kindof thing. Ideas? I'm not sure what the sleeping issue is since he used to sleep all the night with barely a noise. I'm wondering if some is his teething. He's broken through the front four now but then I'm not sure since when I get in there he's usually standing up and he really grips on and has these huge tears streaming down his face. I hate seeing him so sad but I can't keep getting up with him either if there is something else I can do.
Jenny - My DS is 19 months as we have no future plans to move him yet. I have never even thought that any of the sleeping struggles he has had in the last few months where related to his crib. I am basically going to keep him in the crib until he figures out how to get out on his own. My BFF's daugther is 28 months and they just took the front railing off the crib to make it a toddler bed because she was climbing out.
Alexander went through a huge sleeping struggle on and off for the last few months. We seem to slowly be getting back to "normal" but it's been a struggle. He too sleeps better in a big bed with one of us but we save that for travel!!!
Jen - I am glad that things are moving forward for Christopher. Does he use any words? When we were at our 18 month appointment almost a month ago the ped said if he doesn't progress AT ALL in 3 more months we will set something up. Since then he is trying to say more and has adopted a few more words but not a ton.
Pollito - I am glad that you are back home!!
*******
This week is going to be wierd for us. DH is off today, but golfing with a visiting friend, then he has Wed-Sunday off. I am going to go nuts with him around all the time!! We have no plans for Thanksgiving so I need to at least come up with something yummy to eat for dinner. We are having friends over on Saturday so that will be fun.
AF came to visit so I have no idea what those tests where about. Either evaps (within 3 minutes??) or a chem. pregnancy. I just ordered a bunch of OPK's and HPT's online so at least I won't spend $$$$$ this coming month again!! I'll save the brand names until I see a line on the internet cheapies. Who knows ... I am going to start charting and temping to make sure I am O'ing!
We went to the Pats game in Miami yesterday. It was a blast. The weather was prefect, almost cool, and I had a friend down from Orlando. I drank a little too much beer, especially since I never drink beer, but it was my consilation prize since AF came!
Here are a few pictures of Alexander from Tubby Time recently!! He loves 'washing his hair' by dumping the water over himself!
