Woo hoo! We voted! :cool1: Owen did pretty well, although he's still fussy from the time change. I'm not a republican, but I was annoyed by one woman working at our polling place who was loudly making snide comments about republicans. DH was really ticked (he's a republican), and is going to register a complaint. I told him I'd complain too, just so they see that it isn't only republicans who are disturbed by inappropriate polling behavior. ;)

I should add that DH has surprised me by not voting either repub. or dem. this time! He says he registered a protest vote - doesn't like either candidate of the major parties. I'm guessing he voted libertarian this time around...so for once our votes didn't cancel each other out! Although I think we canceled each other on the state senate, etc. votes.

oh yeah and reading back, Ellery is 11 months old and weighs 26 lbs.

Wow!! Alexander is 18 months and just under 30lbs. She's a big girl!! I love big babies but I wouldn't mind a peanut either. They seems like they grow up faster when they are bigger!! I pulled his baby book out and he was just under 27lbs at 12 months!

Christopher was 28 lbs 2 oz at 12 months, and 28 lbs 2 oz at 15 months. Hopefully he'll have grown a bit when he goes in for his 18 month visit.

Hi ladies! Happy Election Day :) I'm tired...haha....DH has been in NH since Saturday campaigning for Obama so it's been me and Abby. He comes home tonight thank God. He's had a great experience but I realize how much help he is when he's gone.....I need to post Halloween pics too....Abby was a candy corn and I also got a Minnie Mouse costume since we will be in WDW in less than 2 weeks...yippee!!

GoofyG - your kids all look adorable in their costumes!

Becky - funny, I just went to my first pro football game last month :goodvibes Have fun at your Election Night party!

Nicole - Izzy looks so cute as yoda!

Jen - Shrieking cow :lmao: too funny! I haven't noticed any issues with Alex eating anything - how have you pin-pointed it to corn syrup or food dyes?

DMickey - isn't it funny that we're worried about the a/c going out in November?!!

Bethany - Sorry to hear about the kitten troubles, I hope that doesn't last! I like your DH's idea to register a protest vote - though I always feel like it still won't make a difference. Good for him for making a point! :thumbsup2

Denise - Mo looks so grown up - like a little boy and not a baby anymore!

********************

I tried to go out and vote this morning at 6:30, but there were already about 50 people lined up outside at my polling place  , so I think I am going to leave work early and try again. The polls are open unti 7:00 PM here, so I should still have time. I figure if I try to go before 3 pm it might be less crowded.

Pollito - It's kind of sad when the AC going out on November 2nd is considered an emergency and the guy had to come out twice on Sunday!! The last time he brought his 2 year old son! I felt so bad. It's working now though, I am actually cold. It's cooler today, cloudy and humid. I think I am going to roast a chicken, make mashed potatoes and stuffing. I am drying the bread now.

What do you girls have for computers? I am looking at getting a new desktop but I am sooo confused about what to look for. I don't want to spend more than $1000 and preferably under $800. I want to use it primarily for picture and video storage, light music storage and photoshop/post processing of the pictures. No video editing or very light video editing. I don't want a new laptop. I have over 13GB of pictures on my laptop right now and it's totally slowed it down. I need something with more power than I can afford with a laptop. Plus we are hoping that by getting a desktop we will stay off it at night a bit more. It's too easy with the laptops to find ourselves on our own computers after dinner and after Alexander is in bed and not spending time togeter.

I'm so excited I can't stand it- be back later, I'm off to cook some stuff for the election party!!

:yay:

Pollito - I was guessing the food dye or corn syrup since it usually happens if he has candy, fruit juice, sugary cereal, etc. I don't usually give him any of it, and if someone does, we tend to notice him go off the deep end. He doesn't seem to do it when he's had a lot of fruit, or sugary stuff that isn't full of corn syrup (I usually just make cookies rather than buy them, and those don't bother him). It's wierd, I know. I've searched it on the internet, and read stuff from plenty of parents who say their kid has the same kind of issues, but they seem a litle out in left field, you know?

I've noticed this with kids when I was working daycare. Some kids just seem to be more sensitive to food dyes and corn syrup. I've read studies that say it's all bogus and parents are imagining it, and I've also read studies that support the parent's observations, so I figure it probably does affect some kids and not others. I have some friends who decided to put their kids on a no corn syrup, no red food dye diet, and 2 of their kids had very dramatic changes: much calmer, fewer outbursts, and needed less discipline. The other child didn't seem affected at all. :confused3

You know your DS best, so if you see a difference, then there probably is a connection.

We have a Dell desktop, but it is 5 years old, so I have no idea what's out there now. I also have a Dell laptop for work, but I don't use that for pictures or music. I'm using my mom's HP laptop right now, but it's almost as big as a PC!

Wow, I've never heard of that, and I honestly don't think I would even notice. I guess I don't pay that close of attention to what DS eats, and he's also hyper almost all the time! :goodvibes

:yay:

I'll bet you're even more excited today! :thumbsup2 How was the party?

DMickey, for computers we have a Dell desktop that DH uses mostly for his games and I use a Dell xps laptop. We also have an external hard drive that we use to back up our computers, and I store most of my photos, videos, and music on that. Because we have that HD networked to both computers, we can both access all the files on it, and if I need to pull up some old photos for a project or want to change out the music on my MP3 it's easy to grab them off the HD. That way I keep most of the memory on my laptop free and keeps it running faster, and DH gets better gaming performance on the desktop by keeping most of his files on the HD as well.

It's not a perfect system - every so often we have problems getting one of the computers to connect to the HD and we have to reboot it - but it's nice to have the memory free on our computers and reassuring to have a back up to all our files.

Becky, how was the party last night? And how's the post-party celebration? ;)

Thanks Bethany! I am looking at a Dell, I was thinking of building it on their site to get exactly what I want out of it. I just don't what to do ... I want a strong video card and decent monitor. I don't know what else I should upgrade or keep the same.

Hi all~

There's no prego news for me, but I saw the following on facebook and thought of you all. Feel free to stick it in your siggys or share it. Its awesome.

Ash- We don't have to move!!! :cheer2: ;)

Bethany- That is ridiculous about the lady at the polling place. And the party was fun! And we popped open some bubbly and celebrated. The ballot here was pretty lopsided- if you weren't a Democrat, you were probably pretty upset with the choices- I don't think a single Republican ran for a state/county office here! :confused3

On the kid/size thing: my kiddo is teeny tiny. She is only around 24 lbs at 20 months.

Our election party was fun- I made Buffalo Chicken wontons; Feta Bruschetta, and Nachos. Yum! Vaylie and her cousin ran around like... well, toddlers, I guess. That's the craziest demographic I can think of right now. They were fun, though.

Jen- Dr. Sears talks quite a bit about food dyes/colorings and different additives being a problem for some kids in his Family Nutrition book. I would reccommend checking out the book and trying to eliminate one thing at a time and see if you see a difference. That said: I don't notice much. I must confess- my kid thinks all foods should be "connie"- you know, "yeyow noodos" or hot dogs or some kind of nugget or stick. At least she loves fresh fruits, or I would feel like a complete failure in the nutrition department. Now, I just feel like half a failure. :guilty: But, she's a pretty active kid anyway, so I'm not sure I would even notice much of a difference.

Everyone else- I am sooo tired. Up late last night and busy, busy today. I had a super-interesting seminar about IRAs today. (sarcasm). On my day off. *sigh* Oh well- I'll take the overtime. How I ever ended up working in a bank is such a mystery. It is entirely too boring. :upsidedow

Ash- We don't have to move!!! :cheer2: ;)

I may have to move to another state to get away from the whole "the world is going to end" and the "you're going to heck for being a democrat" mentality of my siblings. I hear florida is nice. Closer to the mouse anyway. :hippie:

Maybe now that it's over this will all start to slowly fade away....

:lmao:

I'm lucky- IL is a pretty "Blue" state.

You know- even though I am extremely pleased with the results of the presidential election, I am so sad at the results of the Calif. and FL votes to ban gay marriage or amend the state constitutions to define marriage as a man and a woman. And then Arkansas passed legislation so that gay couples (or hetero couples who choose not to marry) cannot adopt. :sad2:

I'm so sad that this legalized discrimination passed.

Ok- I just saw an ad for Black Friday: Wal-Mart is going to have a Compaq laptop for $298! That is crazy cheap! I'm sure it's not the best quality, but still- I just need one for e-mail and writing and well- DISing, of course.

I bet there are going to be some STEALS this year since the economy is so shaky. I have been online ordering toy catalogs for the last 1/2 hour. :yay: Christmas is going to be so much fun this year!!

Speaking of Christmas-

Anyone have any ideas on what you are getting your kids yet?

DNephew's birthday is Dec. 4th- he'll be 2, so I am looking for boy toys and girl toys.

we got Sam & Zoe a nice wagon for their birthday next week! I also got them a couple of shape sorters and nesting cups for their birthday from the twins club thrift sale.

As far as christmas goes, we are getting them each a cozy coupe car, some little people stuff from the thrift sale, a couple of books and musical toys. My dad got them pottery barn chairs for birthday/christmas, and my mom is getting us a little table and chairs for chritmas. I have asked for some crayola toddler art stuff and some big knob puzzles.

oh, and I have a doll for each of them.
