Ash, we just found a vibrating teething toy and Spencer really seems to like it. It's made by Learning Curve and we got it at Kohl's. He won't use teething rings or washclothes. Maybe something like that would help Ellery.

Becky, congrats on the transfer!!!

Bethany, I am sure Owen will be fine. I know it hards when they are sad.

Love the pictures Jen and Kelly!

My dad bought Spencer a jumper and he seems to like it.

Ellery stood on her own today! I was freaking out. I was playing in the floor with her and all of the sudden she just let go and was standing in the middle of the living room all by herself for about 30 seconds.

I bought the Hyland's teething tablets but have been scared to use them. But so far so good tonight. She's been asleep for about 3 hours now so hopefully those two big top teeth are going to stop hurting her so much.

Spencer looks cute in the jumper! Maybe we'll have to investigate one of those for Owen now that we're loaning out our Amby.

And hooray for Ellery standing! Owen will stand with us holding his hands or if he's holding on to the couch, but I doubt he could stand by himself yet. Those legs sure wobble!

Owen finally conked out 45 minutes after we laid him down. He didn't cry the whole time - there was a lot of sniffling and complaining and some yelling, but he wasn't always crying. Sigh. Poor bug. But he'll get used to it.

Well, I'm taking my first childcare client that I don't know. Normally I only watch my friends' kids since I'm not licenced, but I don't have any regular clients right now and I would love to be earning some $$, so I took a client on a friend's referral. I'm a little nervous; usually I know the parents and the kids before I start watching the kids at my house. DH thinks I should charge more than I am, but I don't feel good about that without a licence. Anyway, a 5 yr. old boy I've never met will be showing up on my doorstep at 1pm tomorrow with his mom (whom I've only talked to on the phone) for a trial run. If we think it will work out, he'll be coming to my house every afternoon after school M-F for 3-4 hours, sometimes with his 6yr old sister. So we'll see...hopefully DH won't scare them away with his grumpy teasing when he gets home from work!

Ugh, I am in LA right now for work and keep losing my internet connection :badpc:

I can totally relate to everyone’s money issues (except maybe blowing through a $20K bonus – b/c we have NEVER seen anything like that!), we can just never seem to get ahead! I hate living paycheck to paycheck. DH is thinking of getting a second job right now, and while I hate the thought of him being away so much, the extra money is tempting. Not sure what we’ll do on nights when I have to travel….

Welcome baby Evan – can’t wait to see pics!

Cute pics of Brady, Christopher, and Spencer! Such handsome little boys!

Amber - Alex loved his jumperoo, he would jump so hard and fast that he would wear himself out and fall asleep in it!

Michelle - I hope you are enjoying the new job and hopefully they are accommodating for Will's b-day.

Bethany - How's Owen doing in the crib? We're currently using a 25 year old family crib for DS at my mom's house until we are back on our own next month. So far so good, all the safety standards seem right, except the mattress isn't quite as long as the crib. DS is big enough now that I don't worry about him getting stuck, or at least if he did he would definitely let me know, but I wouldn't put a newborn in it.

And too funny on "up" & "chuck!" :rotfl:

Becky - Congrats on the new job! :yay: Hopefully you can work out all the drama with your mama.

Ash - Yay for Ellery standing! And I agree with everyone else's suggestions on the teething and medication – I think Becky said it best - have faith in yourself as a mother and you know what's best for Ellery and the teething pain. One thing I found Alex really liked was teething drops from Gentle Naturals (Winnie the Pooh is on the bottle! pooh:). They have chamomile in them, which he really liked the taste of and made him just a little bit sleepy. :thumbsup2

V is really into looking at our pictures from WDW, so I thought I'd put in the home movies we took on our honeymoon of the parks and the parades. SHe is dancing all over the living room. It is too cute! She loves the music and keeps picking out the characters!

Congratulations on the successful brainwash-teaching! ;)

Oh, and our friends told me the theme for next year's Halloween extravaganza: Princesses and Princes! They're going to turn the front of their house into a big sparkly castle, the DH will be Prince Charming, and the DW will be Malificent. They're suggesting all the women come dressed in old bridesmaid dresses! :lmao:

That sounds like so much fun!

Colin's been fighting major diaper rash since he was on antibiotics last month for an ear infection. I think it started off as a yeast rash, but then has since turned into a bacterial infection.

Alex actually got a yeast infection on the back of his neck somehow last year, and the cream we got for it cost $100 and that was WITH $100 off coupon from the doctor's office and our insurance!

So, has anyone thought about Halloween costumes for your kids?

I don't think it's too early at all, I've been thinking about it already, too. Are you set on Disney costumes only for your daughter? I saw a really cute flower costume on a little girl last year that was just adorable.

As for DS, I bought him a cute dog costume that he likes to look at and hug, and asks me to put it on him, but he tries to take it off after like 30 seconds! I don't know what I'm going to do with him, he doesn't seem to want anything on his head, and most cute costumes for boys especially have something on the head. He does like baseball caps though :confused3

My name is Rachel. Mom to Joey, 17, Aiden, 15m and Lydia Grace, 5m. I am a long time member/lurker. I don't have a lot of time to post or read, but try to when I can.
Dang it, I know I posted our surprise story about Aiden (I went into Urgent Care, thinking a cyst was popping, found out I was PG, went home, 30 mins later went to the ER thinking I was having an ectopic, and found out I was 40 weeks+1 day pregnant. Lydia, I went in for my yearly exam, and found out I was 34 weeks. She held out until 35 weeks. I have low platelets, and bled through both pregnancies, pretty normally, maybe a little lighter, but not enough to think much of it. No MS, no nothing to indicate I was pregnant, and with my oldest was 15 at the time!). All is taken care of tho, no more surprises! ;)

The Hylands teething tabs are such a blessing. We use them with Aiden and Lydia is slowly starting to teeth (drool, lots of it).

Lydia is starting to roll over (both ways, ALL OVER THE PLACE) and laughs and giggles and talks (I'm told, she is like her great Aunt and Grandma *lol*- not her mom or Aunt!!) and funny thing, she talks to me, the most, go figure.
She is so much fun! Not doing much, but she is a lot of fun, just watching her. Now if she'd just get a little more hair. I can't find anything to put in it. *cry*
I got her a Tinkerbelle outfit for Halloween, but I think it might be too big. She is 9m clothes and it is 12-18m :(

Aiden, is a ball. Always smiling, almost always happy. Although, lately, he has taken to doing some mighty big fits. He stops his feet, pulls stuff down, throws stuff, kicks stuff, and if he is really mad, he will try and push you or hit (rarely) or bite (rarely). *eek* My oldest never had fits like this (he had fits, just not this young or like Aiden does).
Aiden is also starting to really pick up the words. He does say thank you (tat tu) :lovestruc but throws a fit when I try and get him to say please. He wants whatever it is, and he wants it now!! He says mom, dad, sissy, brubber, and he'll go un, un,unnnnnnneeeee (1, 2, 3) {Anything I do with him, and have, since he was really small, say taking off his shirt, I will go one (one sleeve), two (second sleeve), THREE (his head). Or rinsing off his head, I try and do it in 3 buckets of clean water. LOL. It's pretty cute.
He is running all over, and loves to climb. :scared: He slides off stuff, it's a wonder he doesn't have more bruises then he does. I swear, we get rid of one bruise and 2 more show up, especially his head and his little legs. :sad2: Poor little bug. He does love to give hugs :) and cuddle, which I love!!
No clue about Aiden for Halloween. He loves 'piderman. He's never watched it, I just always sing the sings to him. And his big brother collects Spiderman stuff.

I will try and stop by more often. We've had some uphevel this past couple weeks, but I will at least try and keep up on this thread.

Morning Mommies!

Okay, my LO will just not sleep in her bassinet! What am I to do? Lila was literally zonked out last night after nursing. I put her in her bassinet and climbed into bed myself. 6 minutes...yes, 6 minutes later she was wide awake. I tried giving her a sucky (our word for pacifier ;) ), rubbing her tummy, talking to her...nothing! As soon as her sucky fell out, she would wake back up. Finally, I pulled her into bed with me and she fell right back to sleep. Little stinker!

Now, she is only 3 weeks (today) but this is starting to stress me out. My DH says not to worry, that this is what it was like with the others (I can't remember). He says it will all work out. I don't plan on co-sleeping and I don't want a 6 month old in my bed.

So, what do I do? Should I just chill out for a bit? Do I keep trying? Obviously, I am NOT doing any CIO. Should I just enjoy it?

Thanks!

Amie - Honestly? I would enjoy it right now. She is still too little to comfort herself and way too little for CIO. I am pro-CIO or FIO (fuss it out - as it was at my house) but not until they are older and you "know" them better. It will pass and if you don't want a 6 month old in your bed, you don't have to have one, just wait until she is 6-8-10 weeks to 'force' her, kwim?

Rachel - Welcome. I can't believe how big the kiddos are getting. Adian is a month younger than my DS, Alexander. This is such a fun age. I can't believe Lydia is already almost 6 months!!! She is beautiful. As many times as I hear your story, I just can't believe it!! I think it's pretty cool and amazing.

ASH - Yippy on Ellery standing on her own. That is scary but so exciting!!

Pollito - I am sorry that you have to travel so much. I couldn't handle that. BTW - That $20K bonus was a once in a lifetime thing and you don't realize how fast you can go through it ... nevermind after taxes it was about $13K take home. It's a really sad point that we didn't take advantage of that better and build up a stronger saving account.

Jen - Christopher is such a helper!! Love the t-shirt. My mil is coming tomorrow and I hope she brings him another one. He has one blue one but would love a red one!!

Spencer looks like he likes the jumper. Alexander LOVED his. It was the one toy that we could count on!!

Bethany - I hope that you countinue to have luck with Owen in his crib. We need some recent pics of Owen.

******************
DH just keeps getting hit with bad news at work left and right. Please send some pixie dust if you have any sitting around.

I had the wierdest rash yesterday from some sort of bug bite the day before. It was the size of a softball on my inner arm and my forearm was really swollen. It was hot to the touch as well. I called the nurseline and they said to take benadryl and watch it. The benadryl helped and it is much better today but it was wierd. I thought I had a mosquito bite the other day but I guess not!!

:sad1: :sad2: I am having a rough morning and just needed to vent a little. I am so tird of the puking. Zoe puked her morning bottle right after she finished it. She had drank 6 oz. We gave her more and she was fine. It doesn't seem to bother her when she does it, but it really is taking a toll on me. She had not been doing it as much, but the last week or so, she has puked a few times. I just don't know when it will ever end....I mean, she is 10 1/2 months old. How mujch longer does this have to go on. I really don't theink there is anything really wrong with her..and her pedi says she is gaining fine for her (she was between 10th -25th percentile for weight). I am so over changing my clothes, her clothes, offering a little more to drink. I mean, I expect as we are learning how to eat table food that there would be the occasional gag/puke, but come on....I just want it to be done already. She never cries when she pukes..but I end up a mess...

Anyone have any advice for carsickness?? we finally came to the conclusion that brady gets carsick.

It's if he has something heavy in his belly, milk, etc. So we havent been giving him milk when we are heading out, but he has done it w/juice, as well. It's normally when we are on rides in car for about an hour. One day we were in and out of the car and it still happened. I feel so bad for him. It just started in the last couple of months.

Meredith- vent away. Puking does get old- and I know for you- I bet you ARE sick of it! But, it will get better. :flower3:

Stacy- I have NO idea what you do with a carsick little one! I'd call the ped, maybe the can reccommend something.

DMickey- that is a strange reaction to a bug bite! Glad it's getting better though. And I will think good thoughts for your DH! ;)

Mickey Fliers- I agree with DMickey- just enjoy it for now. For the first MONTH of V's life, we slept with her on our chests (we took turns) either in the recliner or sometimes in bed with us. Then, at month 2- she would ONLY sleep in her swing. So, I finally just let her. Then, at month 3, she didn't want to sleep there anymore, so out of desperation I put her in her crib- out she went, and she's been there since then. It was like she just decided she was ready for it. And now I would like to snuggle her every once in a while, but nope- she HAS to be in her own bed to sleep. SO, don't worry you're creating a bad habit- it won't last long.

Rachel- your kiddos are so darling! And getting big! Vaylie's doing the "fit throwing" thing too. We've started doing time outs now that she's a bit older, and it's so funny. Like, last night she hit me, so I held her hand and said, "No. We don't hit. If you hit Mommy again you have to sit time-out." So she ran over to her time-out stool and sat down! :lmao: They are so hysterical at this age!

Pollito- I prefer to think of it as "preparation", not "brainwashing." :rotfl: Eh- either way. And V hates stuff on her head too- not sure how I am going to work out the Minnie ears... Maybe we'll just do a bow.

Bethany- good luck with the new kiddo! You can come watch V- I am seriously stressing over finding someone non-family to watch her- no one ever has. :guilty: And I just want someone who will pay attention to her and not plop her in front of the TV. :sad2: I am going to start calling around tonight. And Vaylie does that same cry- we call it the "tired cry" but it's the same- Yah yah yah yah yah yah. YYAAAAAHHH yah yah. :rotfl:

Ash- :yay: Ellery standing! Woohoo!

DisneyGirl- Spencer is adorable- Vaylie had that jumper too and LOVED it!

Jen- Christopher looks so cute on the tractor. Or, tra-too like V says. She thinks our riding mower is a tra-too, so we let her "drive" it every once in a while- she sits on the sit, turns the wheel and says "Vroom, vroom, beep, beep." :lmao: Ok, kid.

Meredith - I am sure the puking gets old. Please vent away ... I wish I had advice for you.

Stacy - for you too. How old is Brady again? I am soooo bad at keeping track of the ages of the babies here. Thanks to anyone who keeps a ticker in their siggie (Becky!!!) Does he still ride facing backwards?

Becky - If I was closer to you, I'd love to watch Vaylie for you!! Alexander could use a friend. Too bad we still don't live in IL, though even then we were too far from you. I only plop DS in front of the TV first thing in the morning and he watched an episode of Curious George, Sid the Science guy and Super Why or Super Reader, what ever that is called!!!

He does like baseball caps though :confused3

Oh, the flower sounds really cute! I am not set on Disney. I only thought of the princesses because we are going to be in WDW in November and I thought I could get another use out of the costume. Thanks for the idea!

Hi Guys...back from Disney!! It was awesome. Great food, short lines but super super humid!! We won a dream -- line bypass at Dinasaur and our own private car -- so that was fun! I am currently working on a dining report ("Monkey Chow") and will soon start a trip report ("Turtle Tracks").

I need to go back and catch up...I read a bit just now so my apologies to anyone I leave out...

Jen -- love the pix of Christopher - so cute!

Meredith -- sorry about Zoe and the puking - I know how hard that must be on you! Hugs.

Kelly - glad you had a good trip - I need to check out your blog.

Becky -- yeah on the transfer!! Great news!!

Michelle -- yeah on the new job - sounds great -- hope things work out for Will's party - I am sure they will! Will you get a bunch of cool makeup freebies in this new job?

Ash -- that is wonderful about Ellery standing up!!

Lachis - welcome -- your surprise pregnancy stories are amazing!

Mickey Flier -- sorry Lila won't sleep in the basinette -- I think all you can do is keep putting her in there and comforting her when she wakes up until she gets used to it.

Bethany -- hope Owen gets used to his crib -- your friends Halloween party sounds so cool! Good luck taking daycare "stranger" kids -- before you know it these kids/parents will become friends!

DisneyGirl -- Spencer is getting so big - cool jumper - nice gift!

Pollito -- hope your travels are going well -- you have to travel alot huh?

DMickey -- Hi

KPM -- Hi

Tiggersac -- Alaska sounded great -- how are you feeling with the pregnancy?

Sorry to anyone I missed!!

*******

We had the cutest reunion with Izzy on Sunday -- when she woke up both me and DH went down to get her -- she was standing up in the crib - when she saw us she started to freak out and laugh and giggle and scream -- she was clapping her hands and banging the crib -- she was clearly happy (which made me cry becuase I was afraid she would forget me!) and I scooped her up and she nuzzled into my neck/shoulder and gave me a little squeeze -- so cute!!

We missed her terribly while in Disney and being surrounded by kids did not help becuase it made me miss her more!!

Question: It is fall in New England -- which means that when we put Izzy down to bed it is still pretty warm in her room (72-74 degrees) and she sweats with long pjs or a sleep sack but by the early morning hours it has dropped to 67-68 degrees and she is cold -- ideas about how I can dress her for bed? When can kids start to use blankets????

Missed you guys!!

-Nicole

Nicole - i am glad you had a great vacation. So cute on the reunion with Izzy. Alexander has never really noticed when we came home!! As for PJ's we live in AC year round and keep the house between 68-72. Alexander sleeps in two piece pj's like from Carter's or the Target Carter's brand with pants and a short sleeve shirt. He also has a blanket in his crib that he has had in there since at least 11 months. I honestly don't know when I put it in there. He very rarely seems to be covered up with it though!! Sometimes we put socks on him as well but he usually takes them off.

I put her in her bassinet and climbed into bed myself. 6 minutes...yes, 6 minutes later she was wide awake. I don't think Ellery was off of my chest for the first couple of months. I think that's why so much of that time was a blur to me. Finally we started swaddling her and that worked great. She slept better when she was swaddled than she does now in her sleep sack.

My poor bugaboo! He's having a terrible time falling asleep in his crib this morning for his nap. :sad1: Last night was a little rough, but each time he woke up he did manage to get himself back to sleep within 15 min. He woke up early this morning, too - about 5:50 instead of 7:30 - and I tried nursing him and laying him back down but he was wide awake and chatty so that didn't work. I managed to keep him up until 9:15 - just a little bit early from his usual nap time - and he want down like a dream at first. But the poor baby woke up after 45min. and just can't fall asleep again. I've gone in a couple times to give him back his binky and reassure him when he got really wound up, but I'm trying to stick to our usual CIO routine.

I guess it's a good thing I already dismantled the Amby bed, because otherwise I'd have taken Owen out of the crib and put him back in the Amby by now! Sigh. This is going to be a hard, tiring week for all of us. I just keep reminding myself that we had to make this transition eventually, and Owen did just fine in a pack-&-play, so he's going to be just fine once he learns that the crib is where he sleeps.

Becky, congrats on the trasnfer- what great news for a shorter drive!

Ash- yeah for Ellery standing!

Amber- how cute- Will has that jumper too and loved it. he has no interest in it anymore and hasn't for months (since he started cruising the furniture). but he loved it before.

Jen- adorable pic of Christopher!

Bethany- hope the new child goes well! hopefully Owen adjusts to his crib soon.

Rachel- welcome- they are adorable! OMG on those stories. i think i read your story on Aiden though. that is so crazy. there is no doubting i was preggo- i was extremely sick the whole time. and of course i did IVF, so i was praying i was, it was a little planned! lol.....

Amie- keep trying. don't give up. she is still so little. give her a little breathing room and don't push too hard too fast. swaddling worked wonders for us too.

Nicole- welcome back- can't wait to read the trip and dining reports. so glad Izzy welcomed you home right! and on the blankets- we started using one about 2 months ago. Once he could move around, roll and stand in the crib, i felt it was okay. I know he can move the blanket or pull it off if he needs too. i have no fear of him suffocating with it or anything since he moves himself around so well now. we do NOT use crotched type ones though with holes, he could get his fingers or toes caught. We just use a regular lightweight small blanky and he likes to be covered up at night. the AC blows cold in his room. in fact, i put him down on his tummy, put on his blany and he pulls it under his arms tucking himself in. it's pretty darn cute!

The second day at the new job is good. they ordered me a brand new desk and hutch/return. So i just got all my pictures put out and settled in more. I am a picture freak, so i have a ton up everywhere. i even have my WDWCP mickey grad ears. lol.....and my mickey desk set. i wonder if it is too much? i also have great speakers, so i can listen to live365 and disney at work. i am in a back office where it is quiet. I need a few more things, but in all, i am getting settled and learning a lot about aesthetic lasers! Maybe i can volunteer for an upcoming workshop and get a free resurfacing to remove this brown spot i still have from pregnancy mask.

Poor Will was running a 102.2 fever yesterday. day care called DH since i didn't have my new phone # at work yet. i went to pick Will up and he wasn't there.....lol- luckily DH had left work at noon to get him and stayed home with him. a first! i always stay home when he is sick. so it was nice for DH to do it. he knew i couldn't leave on my first day of work. Will is better today, but i had my mom come over and stay with him all day. He was still running about 100 or so last night, but was better this am and actually eating again. not sure what it was.

so here's a QUESTION OF THE DAY

When is your next WDW trip and are you taking your little one/s? How many nights and where are you staying?

oh and the halloween costumes sound so cute. everyone will have to post pics! Will is going to be a pirate. I found it online for $15. I am being Alice in wonderland, but the costume I ordered is on backorder. I was looking for something decent- you know, not the 'slutty' one that comes up to your behind basically. lol....i found one just above the knee that was still cute and not too dowdy. I guess I will have to keep looking now. My 6'2 friend is going to be the mad hatter, another is the Queen of Hearts (she sews her own renaissance type stuff, so i am sure it will be great) and another friend might be the march hare. should be fun (for a party).

The costume sounds really cute. Sounds like a fun halloween. We don't really get into halloween here. I don't really know what we would do!!

As for my next WDW. Probably early December for a few nights. Alexander and I will go up and meet my mom there while my dad is in Orlando for a conference. I don't know where we will stay yet, hopefully POR or something.
