Denise- I believe they outgrow their seats in length, not by the legs, but by when there is less than 1" left of HARD shell above their head at the top.

Okay thank you. :thumbsup2 I'll share that with hubby.

Yeah I had a babycenter coupon and I didn't get right on it and it expired the day before I bought the carseat. so I just got mine from albeebaby.com. Really fast shipping, free shipping, and most of them are on sale right now.

I just purchased it on Amazon for $224. I decided against the Onyx one anyway, it gets hot here in FL and I want Mo to be comfy and I'm sure that dark color will attract some serious sunlight.

aww man, there are no safety checks in my town. That stinks. I think I got it figured out finally.

I don't have any local people in my town either. I'm just going to go back to the Fire Department where I went for the infant carrier and look for the same gentleman. I'm told any state trooper can do it too, and that's right down the street from me.

We got one of the Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 convertable seats that goes from infant to 100lbs. We are still using his Graco infant carrier and he does really well in it. He goes right to sleep in the car.

We go in for his other two shots today...poor guy :guilty:

As for paci's...He can take them or leave them. I have tried three different kinds but he just doesn't seem very interested.

Does anyone know if it hurts them to get water in their ears? I'm so paranoid about this. Chase loves his bath and he loves to splash so sometimes the wave he creates will come back and get his ears. Am I worring over nothing :confused3

That is what I remember from my training.

Not all police and fire personnel are certified. At least they weren't when I was certified.

well bradys chicken pox really popped today!!

I went to work early and just got home, so I didn't see him this am. But boy, he's covered...mostly on his face/scalp. he has some on his upper body and legs, but tons on his face/scalp. The poor little guy.

Hubby and I are rotating days off work. Stinks, just got back from vacation and don't have much time left, so I'm trying to make up days that I don't work by working 12-14 hour days when hubby is home. going in tomorrow from 5am -11:30 -12 so hubby can go to work for 1-9pm.

So how do I find that out? Just go and ask or call maybe?

Either one really, most fire stations and police departments have at least one person on staff but in most areas it isn't a job requirement.

There are also regular people who can get certified. Do you have a local Safe Kids chapter? http://www.usa.safekids.org/ they can usually point you in the direction of someone. That is who I worked with.

AAA may also know of someone as they hold certification classes.

Stores like Babies R Us also often hold seat check clinics.

The issue I have with SOME fire and police personnel is that they don't really have a passion for it and just took the certification because someone needed to. They DO know their stuff but a lot of time they just check the seat and if it is wrong (most are) install it correctly and send you on your way. I'm far more interested (or at least I was) in teaching the parent to do it right. A lot of the independent CPS techs really take the time to show you exactly what you need to do so when you upgrade or need to move the seat you don't have to go back and see them.

I think she likes it.

hey denise, is that a winnie the pooh activity station in your avatar? haha I just bought one of those today.

I am sooo glad it's Friday. But May is a crazy hectic month for me- we have weddings/birthdays/graduation parties every single weekend! Oy!

What is everyone doing for Mother's Day?

I am going to catch so much crap for it, but I am not hanging out with my mom and grandma all day- just stopping by to give presents... But last year was my first Mother's Day and it was DRAMA (my family is the very definition of drama). And I don't even want to participate this year- I just want to spend MY Mother's Day (everyone seems to forget that it's my Mother's Day too) with my daughter and husband. We're going to St. Louis to the art museum and out to lunch. We were going to picnic in Forest Park- but the weather is not going to cooperate, I don't think. Boo.

And, DH and V got me an Ipod Shuffle!!! I'm going to buythis thing to use with my Ipod on our walks. How cool is that? I just didn't think headphones were a very good idea- I didn't like the thought of not hearing V or a car or whatever. So, now we can both listen to the music!

Yes it is! AND MO LOVES IT NOW! When I first put him in back in March, he was like, okay what am I supposed to do in here. Would only stay in about 5 minutes at a time. Now, he'll go half hour stretches nearly and it's very nice when I'm trying to cook or clean. Mine was a gift from two of my bosses and a co-worker! SO glad they blessed me with it! :goodvibes

that thing is so cool! now i want one.

don't have any plans for mothers day, but it will probably suck for me. dh isn't much of a gift giver and he'll probably forget about me and then we'll probably spend the whole day taking the baby to see his mom and my mom. blah.

I just sent DH the link to the Stroll-A-Tune with the subject line "something to add to my wishlist..." :rotfl: Knowing DH, he'll promptly order it, then stow it in a box in the closet until he has another gift-giving opportunity. Gotta love that about this guy - he keeps a box of presents for me and whenever he decides he's supposed to give me a gift, he goes to the box and pulls something out. Rarely wraps it, just opens the box, digs around, and hands me something. Whenever I point out something I like that he thinks is a reasonable price, he buys it and tosses it in the box. It's his logical, systematic approach to gift-giving, and it cracks me up, but it works!

I already know what DH got me for mother's day, but I'm not supposed to know so I'm playing dumb. It's pretty hard to hide, though, and I caught a glimpse of the corner of the box and it's clearly labeled "hammock stand", so I know I'm finally getting my hammock for the back yard! :cool1: Plus DH told me that I'd only get part of my gift on Mother's Day because he's sure I've got opinions about the other half of it, so I wouldn't be able to use my gift until later. I'm guessing this means he didn't get the actual hammock, but just the stand, and he's going to have me pick out the hammock I want to go on it. I'm already dreaming of dozing in it with Owen this summer! :goodvibes

We're going to have a late brunch at DSIL's after church on Sunday. I'm guessing it will be just DSIL's family, us, and DMIL. DH has 2 other sisters, but they live 2 and 4 hours away (depending on traffic), so I don't expect them to come down. The younger one might - she only lives 2 hours out - but we'll see. My family is all in MN (except one sister in MD), so we won't see them. DH is always a grump at family gatherings, but hopefully he'll be able to focus on Owen and that will distract him. ;)

Bummer...sorry about that! :guilty: Can you do something nice for yourself? Maybe go shopping and have Ellery pick out something to give her mommy! :goodvibes My mom used to do that all the time because my dad would forget about mother's day, her birthday, valentines day, their anniversary...
He eventually caught on after a few years of having a baby and/or toddler picking out boxes of chocolate, nice jewelry, books, etc. for mom on these key holidays. Mom always opened up the gifts and read the cards with surprised expressions like "Oh, how wonderful that you picked this out all by yourself! That's so nice, and it's just what mommy wanted!" :rotfl:

Happy Mother's Day Ladies!!!!!

We go out for dinner every year with my parents and grandparents, but DS has a baseball game right in the middle of the day, so we're looking for an early brunch!

Call the station and check. There aren't a lot around here. I was the only one for a few years, but I forgot to do the recert stuff while I was pregnant (mommy brain...). Usually you can find someone at the hospital pretty easily - most of them have a few folks from maternity who do car seat stuff.

Probaby won't be doing anything here much either :( Lack of fundage really sucks. Plus with 2 babies under 1 *lol* I have more important things like diapers and such to buy LOL

Hubby, Mo, and I are gonna go out to the Destin Commons and then to the beach if it doesn't rain. I'm taking a lunch with us as we don't eat out. It'll be nice a day rain or not. Just happy to be celebrating my first Mother's Day! :yay: :goodvibes :cutie:
