Ok...not sure what happened....but the New Mom thread seemed to disappear today?!?! So......I started a new one.....hopefully everyone can find their way here! :thumbsup2 Or, can re-direct me to where the old one went!!

cool....never found the original thread after the twins were born....so I can get in now!!!

Meredith

Hey Meredith!

Post pics of the twins!! I would love to see them!! How is everything going?

Hey - I finally found us!!! Woohoo!

So Christopher has discovered a new skill - pulling things out of boxes and then putting them back in. He sat there yesterday pulling blocks out, bashing them together, then putting them back in. Repeat with 2 different blocks. It's really pretty funny!

How's everyone doing? Any good baby stories?

Jen...that is so cute what Christopher is doing!! And such a good skill too! One of the first things I look for in early intervention assessment is if the child puts things in/out of a container. I know it sounds silly...but is an important play skill. :thumbsup2

Nothing much new in Brady world. I had a mini freak-out over the weekend. :sad2: A friend of mine took her baby for his normal check-up, and the ped wanted to do an MRI b/c he has a butt dimple and a birthmark on his lower back over his spine. Well, turns out he has Spina Bifida! :scared1: Brady also has a small butt dimple (as do I!) and a light birthmark right above it on his lower back, so I totally freaked out. I have calmed down now, as my friends child's butt dimple was very deep (almost couldn't see the bottom) and his birthmark had been getting bigger and darker. Brady's dimple is very small, and his birthmark has been losing pigment every since he was born. I can barely notice it now. But, I am a worrier anyway - so of course all weekend I googled everything I could about spina bifida. :headache: I really need to stay off the internet!! I plan on bringing it up at my next pedi appointment....but for now....am fine. He appears to be a healthy little boy, and my pedi has already seen his birthmark and said it was fine. So...no more worrying about it for now. ;) I will keep you posted, though, after his next appointment. :goodvibes

And for fun news....Brady is now rolling over both ways, sitting up for 1.2 seconds on his own, and screaching and laughing a lot! :yay:

Hey there! I never found the old new mom's thread either so I would like to say hello!

The twins are doing great..getting big. If I had actually carried full term they would have been huge!!! At our 2 month checkup (jan 11) they had each put on 5 lbs since birth! Sam is holding his head up very well and even though he is the drama king, is doing lots of social smiling now. Zoe almost has the hang of holdig her head up and starting to smile too. She is so mellow most of the time. She still seems to need to sleep quite a bit, whereas Sam seems to want to loook around and is interested in his little world! They really are good babies though and give mommy a break once in a while!

Eveyone's babies sound like they are doing great!

Meghan is starting to sit and she loves her Jumperoo now that she has figured it out! She is also a talking fool... so much fun!

I can't believe how fast they grow up!!! :(

Anyone have any experience with baby acne? Tessa ias 5 weeks and has had it for almost two weeks. It started out small on the right side of her forehead and then spread across to the left side and ear. It is no longer the "acne" but it's crusty! Yuck!!! I was able to wipe away some of the crust on her ear and forehead. Now it's spreading to her cute little cheeks. Everyone who has had a baby says one of their kiddos had it and it just clears ip on its own. But it's just so nasty in the mean time!!! Anyone do anything to make it better or go away faster???

Sam & Zoe both had acne, and Zoe still is dealing with it at just shy of 12 weeks. I use a little baby lotion on it occasionally when it seems super dry, but her skin for the most part seems a little oily like her dad! I have heard basically not to use anything in it and it will go away eventuallyand was h her face with just water. In the hospital though, they bathed the twins with baby phisoderm soap, which I cannot find. I bet that would help with baby acne!

I thought Ellery had baby acne but then it started to look like whelps, I took her to the doctor and turns out she was allergic to something in my diet, most likely cow's milk. She's all cleared up now.

Same thing happened to my girlfriend Ash! She thought her daugher had baby acne, and turns out she was allergic to the formula she was giving her. She had to switch to some very expensive formula....I forget the name....but it was made for kids with specific allergies. I think Enfamil makes it....

Meghan had some baby acne as well, we started washing her face with Cetaphil and it cleared up really well.

Christopher had some baby acne for about a month. It cleared up on its' own pretty quickly. He still gets it every once in a while. Right now, he seems to get a bit when he's ready to cut another tooth.

Ds also had baby acne until he was about 3 months old. It just started to go away on it's own. He still has a few stubborn blackheads but you can't really tell. We wipe his face with water a few times a day and give a bath every other day unless he gets really dirty eating which is happen more and more recently. We use the Target brand of the Baby head to toe wash.

How horrible is this and I am sorry if it turns into a vent! DS is already getting on my last nerve this morning and it's so early!! He is refusing to be feed with a spoon anymore. He will grab it and make such a mess. When I say mess, I mean MESS. (See below) This morning he was crying and crying like I was torturing him and all I was doing was trying to feed him fruit mixed with oatmeal without him grabbing the spoon. I gave up and now he is eating a waffle with a little fruit spread on top make it soft. He is all about finger foods now. The picture below is from dinner last night. I can clean his face and hands fine, it's the stuff in his hair from him running his hands through it covered in food!! As far as bib, he tears them off before he even eats a bite.

We might have to move bath time to everyday. Do you think after every meal is too much?? :rotfl: To top it off he is either disliking bath time now or something. Everytime you put him in he stands up and tried to climb out. Yeah, that's safe. I have started standing in the tub with him because I feel like I have more control on his slipperly little body when I am in rather than sitting on the side.

That's what's new with us here. I am going to have to try the block play time. I don't know that he can take something and put it back in the box. He knows that things go in the box when I put them in there, he will climb over and look in. I also hide his stuffed animal under the box and he flips it over to get the animal.

Just thought I would pop in here. Dom is now 2 months old and as cute as can be. He had massive reflux issues (more silent, but he would cry at every yawn, burp, spit up, cough, sneeze etc) and is on zantac now. I have a totally different child ;) He loves to play and is really a very happy baby.

He also deals with acne. I think his skin is like mine and oily. His hair seems to be oily quickly as well. His acne popped up at 4-5 weeks... about a week after I had a massive break out. Doc said it was the hormones most likley leaving that caused it. We do wash daily with warm water only and then use baby lotion now that it is dry out. The dry weather seemed to make it worse too. It has cleared up quite a lot though and only when I forget to wash his face, does it seem to come back.

OMIGOD that is the cutest picture EVER! :goodvibes He loves his spaghetti, huh? ;) Brady loves to wipe his hand in his hair as well. We haven't moved on to anything other than cereal/fruits/veggies....so it hasn't gotten too messy...yet! That leads me to a question....when should I be starting "real" foods. He still doesn't have any teeth - but he can "gum" stuff, right? He will be six months old in a week. Just curious when people introduced stuff other than cereal and fruits. :confused3

Elaine - that is great that Dom has done much better with the Zantac. I chat on another mommy board, and many of them had similar success after putting their LO on Zantac.

Brady's walker was delivered today!! :woohoo: Now he can zoom around the house and chase the dogs!! I guess walkers are a big no-no now due to safety concerns?? DH and I will have to keep an eye on him! If he likes it as much as his Jumperoo :yay: :yay: then he will be rolling everywhere!! :drive: :moped: :car:

That picture is adorable! I can't wait until I can get some of Meghan like that.

Kelly, we just started giving Meghan pieces of "real" foods and she just turned 6 months old. We have tried giving her real small pieces of bread, chicken, pasta... anything pretty soft. She loves to "chew" it (she has no teeth) and she will get mad if we aren't giving it to her quick enough. She also still loves her cereal and fruits/veggies as well.

hey, I have a solid foods question, as Sam & Zoe will hopefully be able to start solids in another month. What is the difference in stage 1 and stage 2 foods? I am sure it is a texture thing, but I was reading that in addition to the cereal and veggies as first foods, meat can be introduced early. All the meat jars are stage 2 though, so what is the deal?

Meredith

I'm so glad another post was started.

Brady turned 1 last Friday, can't believe how fast that went. We're having his party this saturday. Mine and hubby's families coming out.

He is walking up a storm. He was taking 5-10 steps last tuesday, then he woke up wednesday and it clicked over night...he hasn't stoppd moving since!! We are having a patriots themed party, as it is the day before the superbowl. I'll have to post some pictures after...
