Well they called me back and they don't want me to come in and have a blood test or anything, but have prescrived provera to start af. The doctor said if I'm that late and I've taken that many pregnancy tests that I'm for sure not pregnant. I would have felt better if I had gone in to the office. Anyone know anything about Provera? Why do I feel so uneasy about this?

Ash~~~a couple of months ago, I had no period for about 45 days. I tested right around the 14th day and of course came up negative. I suppose I must have just had a lot going on and AF was a no show..which in reality, I really didn't mind. NOW...she's been here for the last 5 days and shows no signs of going away! :eek: :headache: It was only 19 days between my last two periods....BUT if I took my pill every day and not two at a time in one day....:rolleyes1 then we may not have this problem. :rolleyes: I'll do better on the next set after this experience, that's for sure. Just stay calm and relax. :hug: We are here for you and getting into everything is what little one's do. Mo's favorite thing~~banging on the tv set! :scared1: So we have to set up an obstacle course around it so he can't..but the little stinker still finds a way in! :snooty: He is a smart one. It'll be okay Ash, things HAVE to get better. :flower3:

Ash

I regularly take provera because of my POF/peri-menopause condition since I no longer get a normal period on my own.

It is a 5 day prescription - 1 pill a day -- usually it brings on AF within about a week or so after finishing the prescription. It does not hurt or anything but you have to be absolutely 100% certain you don't take it if you are pregnant because it induces your uterus to shed the lining.

Sorry if this is TMI: I just took a provera prescription at the end of August so I wouldn't get a surprise period while in Disney -- I had a "period" that lasted 3 days and I thought all would be good for Disney. But then, 2 weeks later - while in Disney -- my "period" started again and lasted another 3 days!!

So don't be surprised if you have 2 mini periods.

PM me if you need to -- but don't worry too much about the prescription - I take it regularly (every 3 months) and its okay!

Hugs,
Nicole

Denise- has Mo found out how to escape the obstacle courses yet? Ellery is crawling through benches, through that exersaucer, underneath ottomans.... The more challenging it is for her, the more fun!

LOL- Will has done that. I literally built a barrier iwth the dining room chairs turned over on their sides and other misc furniture to keep him in the living room. He somehow figures out how to squirm in the small spaces and escape under the table! It's like a challenge to them isn't it? ;)

:hug: Ash, hang in there. I'm sure everything will work out and you'll be okay! Glad your dr. got you the prescription and I hope that helps.

LOL at Ellery, Mo, and Will and the overcoming obstacles - Owen has just started doing that this week and it's cracking us up watching him! He now likes to crawl under the exersaucer almost as much as bouncing like a maniac in it, he's tried to crawl onto the shelf under the coffee table, he loves crawling under his crib, he's pulled everything off the bottom shelf of his changing table to crawl onto that, and he now prefers to crawl OVER the toys, toy bins, us, the cats, and anything else in his way! :rotfl2: Two of the cats just lay there and let him crawl over them. :confused3 They look a little surprised and very concerned, but they don't move. The third cat takes off if Owen even looks like he's going to move closer to her...she's the only one with any sense, I think! :laughing:

Of course Owen is always very pleased with himself when he accomplishes any of this, and now that he's learning to clap he likes to stop and have a little "Owen appreciation fan club" time whenever he makes it over some particularly challenging obstacle. Just rolls onto his back, shrieks with glee, and claps his hands a few times. :lmao: I'm still trying to get it on video, but I'm not fast enough with the camera yet!

I started teaching him how to climb the stairs this week. Normally he can't get near them, but I've decided that he needs to learn so we might as well practice in a place where I can closely supervise the process.

Hi Ladies!

Ash....hang in there...:hug:

Nicole..I have no idea what is up with Izzy's tooth. The only thing that comes to mind is bottle rot, but usually that stems from long termhavig a bottle in bed at night from what I have heard/:confused3

Beck- yes quality child care is hard to find, and the center I worked for was quality, but the prices around here seem pretty good compared to some that you guys have been quoting. The infant room was like 165 a week, and it went down like $5 each room. Good luck with your decision!

LOL at all the climbing.I love watching the twins climb around..they really love playing with each other now...crawling and chasing each other, or cruising up and down the couch..and the big news........SAM AND ZOE CAN BOTH TAKE A FEW STEPS!!!! Well, if you stand them up. They have both been letting go of things and standing there, so looks like I will have walkers soon! Fun stuff. I need to update the snapfish album.

The puke issues seem to be under control again, and they both seem to be eating more finger foods. I am getting ready when they turn 11 months (oct 11) to introduce milk in a sippy at mealtimes. We will drop a bottle then too.

:
he likes to stop and have a little "Owen appreciation fan club"

:lmao: Isn't it funny when they do that? "Yay ME!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meredith- I can't believe Sam and Zoe will be walking soon! Don't they grow so fast? Just wait til they are toddlers- you're gonna have your hands full! ;) (not that you probably don't already! :rotfl: )
Michelle, Denise, Ash- Vaylie did that too! She would crawl under furniture or her jumperoo and then cry because she couldn't figure out how to turn around or get back out.
Ash- I would feel uneasy too, and I think I would wait on the Rx. It's just me (and my opinion), but I would want a blood test to be absolutely sure. Because if you are just late, af will come sooner or later anyway. But like Nicole said- provera induces the uterine lining to shed. So, if you are pg and would opt to keep the baby, provera would not be the thing to do. :hug: Go with your gut. It's always right.
Pollito- whats with you and the flu, lady? :sick: I hope you feel better.
Michelle- don't feel guilty- I only think about being a SAHM because at this point in our lives it might cost me more to work if I have another kid (with daycare and such). I totally respect SAHM, and think everyone should make the decision that's right for themselves and their families. Personally, being at home too much makes me stir-crazy, and there isn't much to do around here. Maybe I'd be more inclined to be a SAHM if I lived in a larger community, where there were Mom groups and parks and museums- things to get out of the house and go learn and interact with other people (adults!). But I live in such a rural area, the only things we have are: corn fields and a dismally underfunded library with a very limited selection. :rolleyes: And if I tried to start a Mom group, I'm pretty sure people would look at me like I was an alien. :laughing:
ETA- I got out the video camera last night and recorded Vaylie saying her letters in her Sesame Street book. DH would point at them, and she said which letter it was, and she only misses "z" because she says "N"!! But, I thought, if I don't get this on camera no one will ever believe me later! She was also going through her Star wars toys ( :rolleyes: - my DH's work) and naming them. "Yuke" "Yoya" "Vader" "Mace" "Chewie" - it was adorable. I just can't believe how much she's learning!
Morning!
Ash- Oh, hon, I am sorry about the scare, but I agree with Beck. I might hold off on the Rx to see if AF comes on her own. Maybe just a few more days. However, try and relax in the meantime. I know, easier said than done.
Beck- I would love to see that video! It sounds too cute. V sounds a lot like my second son. I have him on video saying "Happy Father's day", "the ice cream man is coming", etc...all when he was about 15 months. Of course my 3rd son was still running around with a bucket on his head at that age :rotfl2: .
Well, Lila is a month old already. We are having one interesting challenge. At about 4:30/5:30 every morning, she starts to grunt very loudly. She squirms and grunts and stretches so loudly, it is crazy. This goes on for at least an hour. It is like she is uncomfortable...like gas. Not sure what the problem is or what to do. She is still in my bed and I tend to nurse her laying down. I think tonight, I am going to try and get up to nurse her. I don't know, any suggestions???
Well I definatley feel like something else is wrong other than just hormones. I haven't picked up the rx yet, I'm going to call the doctor back on Monday morning first. But I'm having really severe pains through my abdomen, and last night after I walked for a while it was running along my c-section scar. I really wish I knew what the heck is going on.
Ash, do you think it could possibly be an eptopic? Not to scare you, but I know that sometimes those don't show up on pregnancy tests. I hope not,but I would se the doctor before doing anything.
Amie, Spencer would so that (and still does). For him, he was just getting comfortable. He wanted to be on his stomach or back, but wasn't able to move himself.
Becky, it seems you have one smart kiddo!
I don't know if I mentioned it, but Spencer finally got his first tooth the other day! He will not show it to anyone though and will cry if you try to look at it.
He is also doing a bit better eating. He still hates bananas, but likes carrots, green beans, and pears.
We have tried some other food, but he's on the fence with those.
MickeyFliers- Is she having a bowel movement afterwards? Maybe it is gas. I used to "bicycle" Vaylie's legs gently to kind of help things along. Push one knee to her belly and alternate.
Ash- I would insist on seeing the doctor. DId you call your general practitioner or your OB? Are you very regular normally? And, are you using BC?
Amber- Vaylie HATED to let anyone look at her teeth. She would flip out. Finally, one day after she got her first four in front, I was feeling her gums and she was mad and she chomped down and drew blood! :eek: I have pretty much let it go since then!
Well Brady got sick in my (well hubby's) car again today.
So I called pedi. They don't want me to drug him out all the time, but for long drives, they told me to give him benadryl. Less than the normal dose. Also, try to move seat to middle vs behind passenger. Not sure if I can do that in my car or not...w/other DS seat.
I am at my wits end. For the past several days Spencer FREAKS if I leave the room. It happens to a lesser extent with ther people, but it is every time with me.
Now, he is getting to the point that he won't play by himself at all. He will sometimes play in his walker or jumper, but it is only for a few minutes. He won't even sit by himself and play (with me sitting next to him). He cried and then climbs in my lap. If I put him back down, he freaks.
I have tried to let him fuss, but if I don't get him right away he has a meltdown. He screams at the top of his lungs and stops breathing.
He has never been able to soothe himself. Even in the hospital, he would go nuts in the bassinet. I tried CIO early on, but it never worked (once he started fussing, there was no soothing). So, we did AP and it worked well - until now.
Any suggestions?
Amber, Zoe is getting to where she is the same way...goes nuts when I leave the room. Sam is fine, but she gets mad. I just walk away if I need to do something. She cries, but has to get over it! I constantly sit and play with them, get up leave, clean, whatever,and then go back. sit for a while and play, and repeat.
So, S & Z will be A YEAR OLD in like 6 weeks!! Whoa! I am working on their birthday party. The theme is going to be "bugs and butterflies". My mom is making cupcakes, I am making a dirt cake (very yummy) and MIL is making the smash cakes. We are basically having a cookout here at the house. I can't wait!!!!
Another thing...I had a Question of the Day....or is it night....
What is your favorite children's music/singer?
I love Laurie Berkner..I just got the babies her new CD..its great!
I also love Elizabeth Mitchell...she is kinda folksy, but great..check out her CD called You are My Sushine!
Amber, Owen has been like that. He started at about 7 months, and he's getting a little better, but if he's at all tired or hungry or not feeling well, then he has to have me, and only me. I cannot set him down or leave him for even a second sometimes. When it's really bad, DH feels jealous because he wants to comfort Owen, and Owen is screaming and won't be comforted until I take him. :guilty:
We play peek-a-boo a lot, and that has helped some. I leave the room and say "where's mommy?", then pop my head around the corner and say "peek-a-boo! Here I am!" and I repeat that a bunch of times, with longer spells between when I show him I'm still here. Eventually I stop showing my face to him, but I keep talking, and then I go do whatever it is I need to do and come back. He's always right there watching for me, and sometimes he doesn't cry while I'm gone now.
It does help if I can get one of the cats to stay near him when I leave - he'll be distracted enough that he usually won't notice I'm gone. :laughing: We sometimes put Alton or Beatrice in the room with Owen and say "Beatrice/Alton, you're in charge. Be a good babysitter and you'll get a treat!" :rotfl: Poor cats put up with a lot, but they are sooo good with him!
Oh, and apparently I often say "Owen, mommy's right here. You're just fine." when he's crying, because all the kids I've babysat in the last few months have said it to Owen or when they are playing with a babydoll! :lmao: Several moms have reported back to me that their kids now use that phrase to comfort their dolls. I'm a trend-setter for the 5 and under crowd, I guess! :laughing:
Meredith, I love your idea for the twins birthday party! What a great theme, and I love the dirt cake idea! :goodvibes
We don't have a favorite children's music/singer yet, although I always get a kick out of Sandra Boynton's CD's and sing some of those songs to Owen. Her books are so fun, and the lyrics are entertaining.
I'm still trying to work out a location for Owen's 1st birthday party. Our house is too small to have more than 6 people over at a time, so we have to have it somewhere else, and since his birthday is a week before Christmas I figured I should get busy to get something reserved before it all gets snapped up with Christmas parties and events. I'm hoping that we can use our church fellowship hall, but there's always the chance that something will be going on there, too. Otherwise I'm afraid I'll have to ask my SIL to host it, and that feels weird. We can't afford to spend $$ on renting space, so we may end up doing Owen's birthday in shifts if we have to host it at our house - part of the family on one day, part of the family later that day, etc. etc. :rotfl:
Amber - It is just a phase and Spencer will outgrow it. I like the peek-a-boo ideas. But, *hugs* to you until he works it out.
Bethany - Nothing wrong with a "shift" party. Our house right now is small as well, so I feel your pain. What about a restaurant that won't charge you for the space?
Meredith - Great idea on the party! Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Not much new with Lila today. Last night, she slept in the bassinet for several hours before coming in to bed with us. And no matter how much I tell myself that I am going to get out of bed to feed her, in the end I am just too tired and we stay in bed to nurse. Thus starting a yucky pattern of not knowing exactly when I fed her. I need stronger resolve :rotfl2: .
On the upside...she started smiling!! :lovestruc
