The New Misfit Island Resort, make your reservation today!

Just had to share some good news! (Some of you may see this post in more than one place I am excited!)

The local newspaper editor saw my Christmas TR and forwarded my name and a link to it to a group looking for someone to write a Montana travel blog and newspaper travel articles about traveling with your kids.

I have been waiting until it was official but "Traveling in Colton's World" is a go!

So those of you that want to follow along with our travels around Montana this summer can! I will post the link when it gets started. Basically the idea is they pay for us to travel one weekend a month all summer and I write the blog in exchange for the travel $. Any blog article that they want re-vamped as a newspaper article I will actually get paid for on top of it! Since I owe this opportunity to the DIS all the money I earn is going towards our Halloween trip

Due to the weather being somewhat unpredictable still our April trip is going to be to Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs since it is only 17 miles away as well as some of the local things to do here in Malta.

May (allowing that the weather co-operates and the station opens by May) we will be taking a train trip to Glacier National Park and their train museum.

Currently it looks like June may be a road trip that includes Lewis & Clark Caverns & Little Bighorn monument & their annual re-enactment among other things.

July we are planning on doing the Montana Dinosaur trail.. a series of museums, dig sites & interactive exhibits all across Northern Montana.

August should include camping at the American Prarie Reserve wildlife refuge where they have a herd of Buffalo among other wildlife Followed by more camping at Yellowstone.

September will be a trip to the Missouri breaks to see the Elk bugle.

All summer there will be mini trips when we take our boat out to Nelson Resivoir or Fort Peck Lake to camp and local stuff like the Dinosaur festival, Car show and Crazy days where there are things like giant tricycle races & bed races in the streets of Malta. We will also ride our horses along with the Milk River Wagon train for 3 days while they do their re-creation of a covered wagon train camping at local ranches along the way. I will also blog the county and state fairs as well as local drag and AMX car racing and Rodeo events.

All of these plans are tentative except the April one since April is already here!

Have a fun day Matt. I am out the door to go tanning and pick up donuts for the kids. (and myself, who am I kidding!);)

Tanning, are you getting ready for it to be sunny all day?

So they saw you TR on here? This sounds great, will you be ready for the traveling?

If you make down to Yellowstone and are interested, let me know, Perhaps DS and I can share a camping spot with you guys.

I prefer Norris but am open to other areas.

Colton actually mentioned it to her at church and she asked me to send her the link.. Go KID!!!
I think it is going to be alot of fun and alot of work to travel that much but we generally take the boat to the lake & camp a couple of weekends a month so just a little farther stretch I guess!

Would love to meet up with you in Yellowstone.. We have driven through and done day visits but this will be our first camping trip so you know more than I do about the camping spots there... we are tent campers don't think people in RVs are camping really. Just ordered a new tent since our old one is starting to get a bit ragged and it looks like we will be getting alot of use out of it this summer plus it will look better in photos for the blog LOL

How old is your DS I can't seem to remember...or maybe I never knew.

So funny the you got him promoting his mother's writing interests. :thumbsup2

I feel the same way about camping, it is not camping when you have a generator. I hope your tent is two tone. I have a couple tents. One is a 4 season tent and the other a 3 season, though for us that would just be summer. But the one with Blue and Yellow always looks better than the yellow one in pictures.

Before I moved out West I spent a summer camping in the region, moving every week so I've sampled a lot of campgrounds. Also as an adult I was in Yellowstone for a couple night trip during an October when it snowed so I've stayed in Hotels in Gardiner and West. Though I have camped in snow many times.

The reason I like Norris is there is a little hot spring near some sites. Though over 20 some years I've seen it decline. But I have caught a lot of small fish in the gibbon river which is in the meadow below it.

Oh and yes the boys are about the same age, within a year of each other.

good morning...nice sunshine we are having on the island.

Finally over my flu and am able to catch up on the boards. I haven't seen Funball/Sara around lately. Is she ok?

Do we have sharks surrounding the island that we should know about?

Anyways...I made my Chief's Counter reservation yesterday and a massage appointment for my daughter. Next week I get to call for the rest of our meals. :)

GOOD SUNDAY MORNING, MISFITS!!! :hippie:

Hope everyone is well!!! I had friends visiting me all last week from Boston and we had an amazing time touring all over San Diego. And the weather was fabulous. Bright sun and 80's while a snow storm was hitting their Boston hometowns. They were soooo glad they were in sunny San Diego. ::yes::

 HIYA Matt, Gisele, Sherri, Chrissie, Row, Mindy, Bret, Paula and I did try reading back and someone named Elsa … so I hope I got everyone!!! :thumbsup2

As far as Funball/Sara, where is that girl????? We were even friends on FB and she 'unfriended' me … :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: Does anyone know anything? I hope she is ok.

So, DH & I are headed out on this beautiful Sunday morning to walk the beach!!!! :beach:

Good morning.

You getting DD a massage? Can't she just shake think out and get loose riding space mountain?

I know three posters who will be in the parks today/tomorrow. It's really quite the thing that they are all there but I'm not.

Though it's sunny right now and I'm getting out the door to make the last runs of the season with DS.

sounds like a good spot to me. LOVE fishing too esp Colton... on his first ever fishing trip to the lake with a little POTC fishing pole he caught more fish than all 3 of the "experienced" fishermen on the trip he got mostly walleye but also caught a bluegill (threw it back) and a really big Northern Pike.. landed them himself too! Now he has to buy new lures everytime we go near a display of fishing gear... He was so proud (and a little cocky) about having the most fish!

Do you know if you need a seperate license for the National park or will our MT fishing licences work there?

Yellowstone requires it's own license. It's really cheap though, I forget the amount but something around $10. It's not so much to raise funds like a state license I think it is more so that the park has a chance to familiarize you with the park rules. Some of the creeks/rivers are catch and release only, some are flys only, and in the lakes if you catch a mackinaw/lake trout, it must be kept or killed.

Do you ever fish behind your house? Do you get trout in there?

I know this really good lure you might want to try. They are made my Jake's in Sheridan, Wyoming but a little hard to find. But since you live close to Sheridan maybe you'll see them. If on a little creek I like the Super Dupers, If a river of pond or lake thier spinners. Gold of Silver. If I could only go out with one lure, they would be my choise. If you see them try them.

We just heard from our boy. He is doing well. His wife sent us a couple of pictures of him. He looks so grown up in his uniform.

I miss him terribly but I know that he is doing what he wants and he will get great training.

We will miss him when we go to Disneyland. In fact, in all my planning, I realized that I was budgeting for 5 people instead of 4. It made a difference.

Well, good evening. I may be on later but for now I need to go make dinner with my hubby and I still need to start my autograph book and my LGMH.

90% of what we get on this stretch of the Milk River are catfish Occasionally a wall-eye.

Will have to look out for Jake's lures... Colton really loves spinners.

Do you use lures in the milk? I myself have never caught a cat fish or wall eye. Since I'm up in the mountain all we have are trout and whitefish.

I think you had said before, but where is he station? Do they live on or off base?

He is in basic at Fort Benning, Georgia. His wife is still her in Juneau until he finishes his training which will be in about 7 months.

So after basic is she going to move to where he is stationed? Is that the plan?

Are you close with her so you can support each other in his absence?
