The New MacBooks are HERE!

Go to apple.com to check out the new MacBook and MacBook Pro, both of which are completely redesigned inside and out. The MacBook's graphics card is 5x faster than in the previous model, which means that you are able to play games once confined to desktop-only use.

The only downside to the new model is the $300 price jump ($999 ---> $1,299)

I'm really excited and can't wait to go to the Apple Store this weekend to try one out. Now I actually have a reason to keep money in my wallet.

That $999 MacBook only has 1 gb of RAM and 120 gb hard drive. If you upgrade to the 2 gb of RAM and the 160 gb hard drive the new MacBook has, you're up to $1124 and still don't have the better graphics card, larger screen and the other extras you get with the new MacBook. That baby's pretty sweet.

It actually has two graphics cards: the fast one you describe above and a more pedestrian one. You choose which one you want (Power Saver vs. Power User, I guess). You can't go back and forth. You have to log out of your user account and log back in.

They are, basically, bigger and more powerful versions of the MacBook Air. And the MacBook is cheaper than the Air.

It has the programmable multi-touch track pad that can even be programmed so that the bottom corners act as mouse buttons.

I went ahead and bought a refurb model for a very good price. I don't mind using last year's technology for a while.
