The New Lizard Lounge

Just thought I'd stop in for a bit - I've been busy getting my knee looked at again and again. I go into UVA for major surgery on Dec. 28th - Happy New Year for me :scared: ! I'll be PC-less for about 3 weeks. The docs told me that this is like organ replacement, so I have to keep really healthy. I'm getting a new type of knee, quasi-experimental (but I still have to pay for it), that is supposed to last longer than the nickel and plastic ones. I am apprehensive about the whole thing, lots of different feelings right now. Just need to process it all at my own pace.

Either that or just not think about any of it.

ARGHH I can't remember where I am posting lately! Michaela, please see the other place for my post! I do hope that everything goes well.

I wanted to log on to tell everyone thank you for the prayers and good wishes. I came through my surgery (just over 2 weeks ago). It was pretty rough but just today felt like I turned a corner. Maybe part of it was finding out I will not need chemo. :umbrella:

I can't believe I won't be going to WDW after all that planning. But I'm happy to read about those of you who are on your way. What a wonderful time you'll all have.

CaliforniaDreamer,

Just wanted to send some good thoughts your way. Glad to hear that you do not need to have chemo.

Take care. :grouphug:

What good news, CaliforniaDreamer! Sending prayers & PD for a continued smooth recuperation. You'll be planning that next WDW trip before you know it.

Prayers & PD to you, too, Michaela. Focus on the holidays for now (nothing you can do about the surgery 'til the 28th, right?) and let the positive thoughts boost your immune system and strengthen your recuperative powers. Just keep thinking about walking around MK with your fellow Lizards and being pain-free!

Hope Tess is treating that new addition like a concierge guest, lucky little guy.

Have great trips everyone; we leave soooo soon...don't know if I'll be checking in again as we have a weekend full of holiday events and tasks. Can't wait to read your trip report, Minniesota. I hope I have enough energy left after 4 days with Tyler to write one!

Evening everyone.

Our Safari for Christmas is back on at AKL CL.

Any tips on what a pregnant woman should avoid at WDW.

Is there anything that bothered you at WDW while you were pregnant?

Thanks in advance :flower1:

I am so happy for you, floridafam! I think common sense will dictate most everything for you. Mommy knows best, and knows what foods she wants or doesn't want anywhere near!

calidreamer>. GREAT NEWS! Oh this is what we've been waiting to hear! Now let us know when chemo is a nogo!

debbie,

Luckily, most foods are no longer a problem.

Do you think the Sunrise Safari will be too bumpy?

We're muddling through with our new little :cat: . He's a sweetie pie, but the other one is not all that thrilled with the new addition. I took Buster to the vet on Friday and he has all the normal stray cat disorders--ear mites, worms, and fleas. My guess was accurate--6 months old. He's going in on Monday to be declawed and a few weeks later he'll be neutered (only 4#s so one procedure at a time). He might not be so :D to have chosen this home. I know our Precious cat isn't too thrilled either. :(

In any event, it's  at first sight and I'm sure the older :cat: will grow to tolerate him. At least my fingers are crossed that will be the case. . .she is--at least--allowing him to be in the same room without war erupting. No "cat fights" yet--he's smart enough to just walk away! Guess he's brighter than the average male. . .

Now to train this little one to stay OFF the counters and OUT of the tree! It had to be a Christmas cat. . . :(

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. . .We spent all day at wrestling today--as we will be doing for the next few weeks until competitive cheer begins--then we'll be tossing a coin I guess. . .no more football Saturdays for me (or my husband). . .how long 'til March? :earseek:

Debbie (hockeymom), it is definite, I don't have to have chemo! I had to wait for the last test which is done about 4 days after surgery to be certain. Two of my doctors agree, no chemo. :cool1:
I will take a pill but that is no big deal.

As much as I had to go through, it could have been worse (nodes, chemo). The key here was getting it quickly. So please remind your loved ones to get their mammograms on time. Also, don't ignore pains. While most of them are not an indication, some of them can be.

Thank you Donna, I'm not up to even thinking of replanning the trip (some bad assocations at this point, you can imagine) but no doubt that will change.

Floridafam, remind us how pregnant you'll be at WDW?

CaliforniaDreamer,

Again, I'm so glad everything turned out like it did. Take it easy and you'll be feeling 100% in no time.

I'll be 25 weeks while we are at WDW.
:flower1:

I really don't think there would be a problem with the safari. If you can handle the back roads of Michigan you can handle that, right? I would, of course, consult your doctor.

CaliforniaDreamer and mmausse... Have been thinking about you both. So glad to read your posts...continued healthy wishes going your way...

Well... at long last... Goofy and I decided that our December trip, which was booked in a moment of summer madness, will be a GO! So... we told our kids last night at our traditional "red & green picnic" celebration which tops off our holiday decorating day. We gave them a card that said we were sad to have discovered we hadn't bought a Christmas ornament to commemorate our summer trip, so we were returning Thursday... did anyone want to join us?

Their reaction went something like this...:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :sad2:

The girls were absolutely thrilled, even our oldest who I feared would be plagued with worries about school and "missing things". Unfortunately, it was DD10 who housed all those worries and more. As of today though, he is slowly coming to see the upside to taking a trip this week (so yes, we'll be lining up or FPing with the rest of creation for the new Stitch ride)!

Quite literally, there is SO much to do and SO little time, but I think that's our basic rationale for why we're doing this trip. We can do this right now and so we will...

:grouphug: to all! 4 days and a few hours according to DD13 who has created a new family countdown for us!

YEAH goofy family! Where will you be staying? Wait... it doesn't matter... you'll be at DISNEY WORLD!

Hi All!
Been real busy and haven't been on the boards lately.

Sounds like lots of exciting trips are coming up soon!

Floridafam-I was 6 months pregnant with #3 when I took my DD in 2001. I carried that baby really low and found the ramps to the monorail a bit of a challenge. Just take it slow and try to do an afternoon rest. We went back to the room every day and DD never napped but I did. Enjoy!

Oh my we must be

We will be at WDW in just 3 days! and I have not done ANY Christmas shopping.
I am so overwhelmed right now.

CaliforniaDreamer and mmausse Continued Prayers and PD for the both of you. Cali that is great news about the chemo. mmausse the recovery may take a while, but the result is well worth it. Who was it that said to think about walking around Disney with your fellow lizards, created a powerful positive image.

Tess - So nice of you to welcome the Cat that Came for Christmas.

Now to go and create a counter I can watch for the next 2 days......

Hi all! I have so much catching up to do! Our trip was as close to wonderful as one can get....except that I became ill and have been battling pnuemonia for the last week (actually was in the hospital the day after return for IV antibiotics) so this is my first opportunity to visit. I'll do some reading and than start posting reports/reviews. Our photos are not yet developed so that will come later.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Suse

GOOD MORNING LIZZARDS I have not been on the boards for several days. I think I dropped in last week for a minute, trying to catch up. :teleport:

So much is going on, running around like a crazy person. :D we are scheduled to leave for Northern Wisconsin on December 23rd. I really cannot believe we are doing this trip. You just don't go from the fairly comfortable west to super snow and way low minus temps. :scared1: But the joy is we will see one of our daughters and son-in-law.

California Dreamer - You have been on my mind. I am so very happy to hear your wonderful news. Remember to take good care of yourself and don't push getting back into work and things around home. You are in my prayers and I am sending pd for a very special holiday.

Floridafam - Woo Hoo Your AKL Christmas trip is a go! I am very happy for you. I really don't think the Safari would be too bumpy. However, I felt like I had been really knocked around on Dinosaur. I am not sure I will ride that again even not pregnant. Have a wonderful trip. Rest and Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy.

Tess - I have been :rotfl: over your story of your new family addition. You certainly have good friends here on the DIS that help increase your family ;) Hopefully your older established cat will settle down. I have a new puppy that was eyeing the Christmas tree as we put it up last night. I just hope he doesn't feel it is his "personal" Christmas gift :rolleyes1 I figure lots of toys and special treats will keep him busy. I am sure you have purchased many items for your new Christmas cat.

Steveanddonna-
I hope you have a wonderful vacation with your nephew. It certainly is a great idea to take the children individual groups. That way they have more Aunt & Uncle time, as well as you being able to enjoy them exclusively.

I am putting out chicken salad sandwiches, which I have cut into diamonds and stars. There is also a large selection of teas of the world next to the cappuccino machine. For dessert I have imported fresh strawberries and whipped fresh cream to go on top. Enjoy and have a wonderful day. :grouphug:

FloridaFam...I'm back...I'm back! Have been sicker than stink however. Have started posting...will work on more later today.
