The New Lizard Lounge

Yes, not in school for quite a while longer! He just turned 3. So I'm doing football games (daughter is on the majorette squad) and trying to keep him occupied at the games (actually he enjoys them and loves to watch his sister perform.) It makes for an interesting life adjustment. BUT it is worth every minute, and I have to say that this go around I'm taking more time to enjoy the little things. Now I know just how quickly they pass.

What a long strange trip its been, these last 72 - 96 hours.....

First, I want to say thanks to those who started and kept going this new home for the Lounge Lizards. Ever since I discovered the original thread, I found a warm and welcoming group who not only shared very useful trip planning (and trip enjoying) advice, but a group that cared for one another.

Second, I thought I should set the record straight. I did not start the useful concierge info thread in the Resorts Forum. I had simply replied to an existing post. I then got the idea, that one of the first posts could contain the contact information for all of the concierge planning offices. As people posted contact information, I took the liberty (without asking) of updating my original post with each new addition. Looking back, I should have asked the original poster if I could use their information.

At about this time there seemed to be some controversy about where posts belonged, and the creation, moving and deletion of many threads connected with concierge and the lizards. Meanwhile I was out of the boards for significant blocks of time, due to several reasons:
On Thursday evening, I fried one of our two computers. My efforts on Friday evening to restore it resulted in complete disaster.
The weekend found our family dealing with very large time commitments for children's activities. Since this is the community board, I will give you all the details. Oldest DD is in community theater, doing performances Friday and Saturday. Both DDs had their final Cheerleading Exhibition (imagine 10 hours in a high school gym, sitting on bleachers).

When I finally came back to the DIS very late Saturday night, I found many PMs, from various people. I also discovered that my original reply to an existing thread, became the start of a new thread. This was done without my knowledge, but I do understand (after reading many many posts, across various threads) why the moderators felt the need to do this.

I did feel that I was placed in the awkward position of either offending my friends in the lounge or the moderators, based on how I responded to the events and requests. This was not a comfortable position for me.

I did not want to loose my friends from the lounge, whom I genuinely enjoying sharing our lives with.
I did not want to offend those whose knowledge and experience of Concierge was far greater than mine. I only meant to add my 2 cents.
And lastly I did not wish to do anything that would offend the moderators, and ban me from the DIS. A true gem of a website, containing invaluable information on Disney World and numerous people with vast knowledge of how to plan and enhance the Disney experience.

Again, I am truly sorry if I have offended anyone in the lounge by anything I did, or failed to do.

I hope we can continue with our "family" here in the community board. I am very sorry that we have lost some of our members. My life will be a little less because of the loss.....

Thank you for letting me share this.

GoofyJoofy - No offense taken here - not at all. So sorry you were caught in the crossfire. I think a lot of us feel that way. Your "apology" is obviously very heart-felt. Like all good families, we will get through this. I feel a bit as though I'm in Emerald City and Toto has just pulled back the curtain. Guess I need to find those ruby slippers and click 3 times...

Glorioski...did I have a hard time finding this sandbox...and then to find it with so many feelings hurt....come on now, everyone....play nice!:Pinkbounc :yo-yo: :Pinkbounc

CaliforniaDreamin'...I have sent you a pm...I mean every word of it! As a survior I'm here if you need me!:chat:

VAGal...thank you for leading me home!

GoofyJoofy...I'm so sorry that you have been made to feel that way, I for one haven't felt anything of the kind.

Should I harken back to my days of peaceful protest at the University of Pennsylvania, grab the guitar (don't know if it even has strings) and start singing "We Shall Overcome"? Nah, none of you want to hear ME sing!:rotfl:

So does anyone want to hear about my latest battle with WL IPO?

It's a cloudy Sunday, so after church I think it's a fine day for Earl Grey, movies and snuggling in the bed with my hubby....

We're all packed and ready to go btw.....woooo-wooooo!

JUST A THOUGHT! Especially for GJ....my hubby is a colonel in the USAFR...he recently got a NEW Kevlar Plus vest....wanna borrow it??????? *tight hug buddy*

Please tell about the WL battle! It seems DH thinks WL is more his taste than AKL. *he puts AKL in the zoo category where I don't* WL is on the Easter long list, but you know where my heart belongs!

OK, you play and I'll sing! Do tell about your WL drama. They share an IPO with the Poly and I've had some "bumps" along the way with them. I think the planners are, in general, terrific, but they are overworked and there is a lack of continuity because of the way they are rotated out so frequently. I think it must be a very difficult condition under which to try and do a job that requires a lot of organization and attention to detail.

GoofyJoofy I pm'd you. No offense taken here, either.

Oh I forgot to give goofy joofy *and wife!* a hug! No offense taken, and I saw most of the order of what happened so I knew how/what happened. *ok, I confused myself* Let us all keep passing the word around so everyone knows where to find the lounge!

GJ~Sadly, a S/D sorority sister was a casualty and a very sad one for us. I wish you all continued happiness, sharing and the love of all things Disney here at the LL. Btw, I stayed CL at the Dolphin about 2 years ago. My one and only experience with CL and I loved every minute of it. :hyper: I hope someday to do it again.

Keep smilin' and pop on over to the sorority house!

Now, how do I get my sig clippie back! :(

For those of you who don't know I have been having an ongoing battle with WL IPO since we first started planning our trip. Phone calls not returned, emails not answered, rude staff members...it's been a nightmare!

In any case, after a letter of complaint sent to Al Weiss, Valerie Charron...who is the Director of Operations for all of Guest Services (including concierge) at the WL became involved. She seems to be the only one who cares about her guests.

About 10 days ago I wrote to the IPO requesting verification of some room requests (I'm asthmatic and CANNOT possibly survive in a room where there has been a smoker...was guaranteed a non-smoking room by WDT, in writting)...just this Friday (more than a week after my letter to IPO) I recieved a reply stating that while my requests were noted they could not assure me that they would be met and oh btw...I'm out of the office until the 18th of November and I've asked someone else to look after your emails but.....

Ballistic is an understatement! My blood pressure went through the roof.

I have heard nothing but wonderful reports about the same staff when one is staying at the POLY however it would seem that concierge guests at the WL are "red headed step children". I have had the most awful experience with this group and will never stay there again...it's back to the Beach or Yacht Club for me. We decided upon the WL because we're from the NW and hubby and boys love the park flavor but never again...at least not when dealing with concierge.

Long and short...tell hubby the AKL should be the place!

GoofySuse,

I think I may have some good news for you. All of WL CL is non-smoking.

The IPO office doesn't know this and always comes back with that same response. Should they know? YES.

They just always seem to be one step behind in everything.

You may want to call the concierge CM's directly shortly before your stay and advise them of your need for a non-smoking room (even though they are all NS, people still smoke in them)
Do you have the number? PM me if you don't

When are you going to WL?

Sadly those clippies were being hosted by the originator of the Lizard Lounge thread. Since she seems to have been banned from these boards, it is not possible to get to her website and pull the images.

I have deleted the image created by my friend, from my signature.

Even if someone could pull the image, and host it somewhere else, I would not feel comfortable using it, without the creators permission.

FloridaFam....thank you, so much, for that bit of information. Yes, they should know....but since it isn't the Poly why would they???

I just don't understand....

I have a question.....we have several weeks of timeshare, with Interval International, that we are considering "banking" (for 2005) to use towards a Disney Cruise in 2006. Has anyone done this? If so how many weeks did you bank to use for the cruise?

Debbie - While your hubby may like the themeing, location and the boat transportation that WL offers, their service doesn't compare to AKL.

GoofyJoofy - Have no fear, we know where you are coming from.

GoofySuse - I believe Majestic stated that all concierge rooms are non-smoking. They probably put that disclaimer on everything going out. We didn't smell a hint of any smoke when we visited.

Oh, BTW, I did get a phone call back from a Joe regarding my e-mail to Valerie on the WL. He wanted to let me know they'd received it and would love to hear any further comments or complaints to help improve their service. I've had a heck of time trying to set aside time to call him back. I was pretty glad I was heard....I want to call back to to suggest they bring back that oatmeal. I'll have to make it a priority this week.

VAGal...I should have posted that Valerie does not work weekends. I have talked to Suzanne, her assistant, a time or two. I'm glad to hear about the rooms. I really think that Valerie is the gem @ Wilderness Lodge...really!

I liked WL, but didn't like CL...does that make sense or what? With WL getting a new lounge soon and they seeming wanting to bring WL brought up to par on service standards, I may have to try it again in the future. They have a rough road ahead. They definitely need more talent to keep up with us. That's what makes us repeat guests.

I don't think you can use the II weeks for a Disney Cruise, but I might be wrong. You should check with II.

I think that the only timeshare that can be used toward a Disney Cruise is DVC.

If you can trade your timeshare it would likely not be a good value because for other cruiselines (yes, I have timeshare) they want you to trade your week and still pay out the nose. You can likely do better by booking the cruise on your own and renting out your timeshare.

Good luck.

Another apology here; I already offered one to our missing friend, which I had thought at the time was accepted, but it would appear not. I didn't think it was a huge deal to start a new thread when ours filled, and just wanted to kick things off. As soon as she opened hers, I apologised to her and asked that mine be closed, which it was. I don't understand how everything just exploded after that, but since I started that first replacement thread, I feel the weight of the world on me now. I just got a PM from someone blaming me for it all. I feel like I'm back in grade 8.

I just wanted to let you know that I didn't intend any offence, I'm sorry for my part in this, and I'm pretty depressed about where it's all gone. I don't want to be a drama queen, but if anyone feels that I've messed things up for everyone and would rather not see me, I will certainly make myself scarce on this thread.

Sadly,

Kris
