The New Lizard Lounge

Nancy: I was just sitting here thinking that I hadn't visited the Lounge in a long time. It was a pleasant surprise to see that someone else was thinkning the same thing. I hope your weather isn't too bad although I miss the snow in the worst way. I spoke with someone in PA by my parents house and they said you can't even get back to their place. I'm so glad my mother is with us now.

No trips planned for now -- we were supposed to go next weekend but it's just not in the budget right now. School tuition for 06-07 and homeowners insurance is due soon so no trips until the end of March.

Hopefully that trip will be at the Poly -- I've got my New Years Resolution to think of. This is one I might actually keep.

Minniesummer: you are right, it is good that your Mom is with you. Is she adjusting to her new "temporary" home? We have been fortunate that we have had just cold and one major storm, and that one was not as bad as it was supposed to be.

Don't worry that there are no trips for now, we are not planning any either, although I still wish I could have a "girls" trip with my sister and her girls as well as my Marisa and Kady. My sister is building a home that will accomodate her MIL as well as her BIL who has CP, it is very expensive and then college for her youngest. We are finishing our basement and will need to replace my Bronco, so we are also saving. I am giving my DH a hard time about my truck though. It is old, not pretty and still running good. He hates it, but I feel safe and don't like anything else. In our home the "no's" have it, so for now Nancy 1 Buddy still trying to hit 0 :lmao:. He says he can't believe I'm the one saying no and he is trying to justify the expense. I usually am the one explaining why spending is a good thing :thumbsup2.

Anyway, have a great day,

Nancy: So far my mom is doing OK. She better be as the woman who takes care of her in PA -- the one who did such a wonderful job -- had to have emergency surgery (according to the Doctors she was hours from death) and had to have two collostomies. They will be reversed in March and then she'll have another six weeks of recovery. Hopefully, after that she will be able to take care of my mom again. My Mom really is looking forward to going "home" for the summer.

So, for all of you Poly fans, tell me what is so great about the Poly. It looks like that's where my DD wants to stay for "Adoption Day" and we may be bringing her friend with us. Most likely we will be giong the weekend after Easter when the rates drop again. Is it really that kid friendly? We've only eaten there or visited people who were staying there and swam. I still want to stay at BC but for some reason she doesn't.

Good morning and long time no see!

It is with great sadness and great joy that I tell you my wonderful, courageous dad has passed away. Sadness because the world has lost one of the best and joy because I know with absolute certainty he is in heaven and at peace with the Lord.

He died on Ash Wednesday and it really was a beautiful death, if there is such a thing. All of my siblings and my mom were with him at the lake for the last week of his life. He shared many thoughts, feelings and wishes for us during those days. We laughed, cried and prayed together. He was lucid right until the day before he died - and he had a quiet and peaceful passing in his beloved cabin in the woods. We will miss him terribly. My heart has such a hole but my spirit is full. We had a memorial Mass on Tuesday in the city and we will take his ashes home to the lake on Friday where we will have a final service and burial. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers the past months!

That was beautiful Minniesota. Your strength and faith are inspiring. I will keep you and your family in my prayers and hope that you can continue to let your faith guide you through whatever life holds for you next.

Not sure why I was compelled to log in this morning, but now I know... Thinking of you and yours, minniesota...:grouphug:

Oh minniesota, I am so sorry for your loss. I know that you are peaceful in the knowledge that your Dad is with his Lord. He must have been s special man to be called Home on Ash Wednesday. Both my Dad and Buddy's Dad passed on Palm Sunday, and I believe that these most Holy days are reserved for a chosen few.

You and your family remain in my prayers. I know that while you feel such a void where his presence was so strong, I feel that he will find a way ot let you know that he is still with you always.

Minniesota, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your post was so beautiful you brought tears to my eyes. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending Hugs and warm wishes to all her on the Lizard Lounge.

Does anyone know if private message is working? I have sent out a few and not heard back.

Angel- How are you? I don't know about the PM, I send very few and receive not too many so I would not notice if it was not working properly. Anyway,it is good to hear from you.

i never knew this was here. I would love to join in the Club level chat. We love it and have stayed CL at the WL, BWI, Beach Club, GF so far. DH likes to act like he doesnt care but I know he does.
Our last stay was just 2 weeks ago at BWI and it was fab! King bed room over looking the boardwalk. Jackie robin lorenzo everyone was so great.

Hey everyone!

I have some very good news. The Lord has truly blessed us and given DH a generous raise. Now we are no longer in a financial bind and can support ourselves on DH’s salary. I feel so blessed to be able to look for a job without the accompanying stress of knowing the money is needed. We are truly humbled and excited!

Goofy’s Muse, that sounds like such a fun resort combination! And the AKL concierge is truly top-notch, so I think that’s a great choice to end with. I know exactly what you mean about having too many restaurant favorites and not enough time to try them all! I have a few favorites that I can share as well. My #1 restaurant on Disney property is Artist Point at the WL. It’s one of Disney’s Signature restaurants, so it’s on the pricey end, but every single meal we’ve had here has been delicious along with impeccable service. Our second favorite is Le Cellier Steakhouse at Epcot—yum! And since you’ll be at AKL for part of your trip, I must tell you that breakfast at Boma is delicious for sure! Enjoy planning your trip!

MinnieSummer, the Poly is absolutely kid-friendly! It and the Beach Club are some of the most family friendly resorts at WDW, and that’s saying something considering all of Disney’s resorts are family oriented. One of my favorite things about the Poly is its overall relaxing atmosphere. Plus, it has some great restaurants. Kona Café is a favorite of ours no matter which meal of the day we eat there. Kids also seem to really enjoy the volcano pool area.

Nancy, thanks for your encouragement about the job!

minniesota, my prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of your dear father. It sounds like he died surrounded by those he loved and then headed straight for the Father’s arms. May the Lord comfort you all as you miss him and help you remember all the cherished memories.

Angel, I got your PM and sent one back. I hope you got it! I read on another thread that some people have had problems with their PM’s going through.

Kelly, welcome! It’s nice to have a new face in the lounge! I loved your comment about your DH. Mine pretends that it’s always me wanting to stay concierge level, then he’s the first in line for all the goodies throughout the day! :teeth:

thanks so much
Yeah my DH is a riot he always acts like he doesnt care where we stay or if its a plain room but I know he does.
I saw some asking about BC a page back and we stayed there for a week over XMAS. It was very nice, casual and very kid friendly. I have 2 sons ds7 and 3. They loved it and the pool. The lounge is very small there, I think thats the only draw back. The food was very good, everything was very clean. The staff was nice, mousekeeping was very good. Overall it was a nice stay. We would like to try the Yacht Club next. We loved the lobby and feel over there. That or the poly I think, its gonna be hard because we both LOVED the BWI so much, the staff there was amazing and it made us feel very much at home.

Elisabeth: It is so good to hear from you again. I always miss your warmth here on the boards.

Alice: I know that's not quite your screen name but I hate scrolling down to make sure I spell it right soo --- WELCOME TO THE LOUNGE. I'm sure you will love it hear. I actually jave no business hear as every time I plan on staying concierge the budget gets blown to bits and I have to change the plan. I'm a wannabe lizard but the ladies and gents hear still make me feel welcome and they are some of the greatest people around. You'll enjoy yourself hear very much.
To everyone else:grouphug: and muchpixiedust:

Hi everyone. The Lounge has been very quiet lately so I thought I'd check in and make sure everyone is alright. I just scrolled back a few pages and realized that we haven't heard from Tammi for a while. This is competition season so I hope her son is doing well.

Does anyone have any trips in the works -- WDW trips that is? I love to hear about the plans. I've already got Christmas planned but not booked. After our not so great stay at GF this past Christmas:confused3 we decided to stay at AKL concierge. I just love walking into that lobby and during the holidays it's even more special. So we're going for the WOW factor instead of convenience. We're also going to do the CP with dinner at La Cellier instead of Coral Reef this year. I'm allergic to seafood so I always get the same thing a Coral Reef and I'm tired of it. :sad2: This year we're doing it my way. CHristmas Eve is going to be Bomas -- I wanted Jiko but my husband likes the idea of a buffet so Bomas it is -- I guess he should get it his way some time:rolleyes1 . I want to do a character meal while we are there but I haven't made that plan yet -- my DD wants to try HDDR or MBYB but they never seem to be running on the nights we are there so I'm not sure where we will end up for that.

Ho everybody!

Minniesummer- I loved AKL! My family really liked the Poly, but while I thought it was pretty, and I was not sorry that we stayed ther, I would choose AKL every time, and that is one resort that I would like CL again. The Christmas decorations were so pretty and the staff welcoming. I know that you will love your Christmas stay very much.

I had thought that when I take my DGD for a Christmas trip I would like the GF, but after a few meals there, I just could not warm up to the decor. When she is a tad older I want to bring her to the Christmas party and to enjoy the CP as well as the other activities Disney does so well. SInce she wanted to move into AKL, I think that may be the place to take her. She "never wanted to go home".

Elizabeth- I am so glad that your door opened to take the stress away from the job hunt. It is tough enough to find a job without always keeping salary considerations at the top of the list. I remember when I had to explain to my site director that my DH still thought that Leave it to Beaver was the way a family should model themselves after, and the day that my stress level was such that I did not want to walk in the front door was the day I was going to make Buddy a very happy man. It really made the difference in my attitude because I knew that I could leave and they knew I could leave. I know that now that the pressure is off you will find the perfect fit for you.

I don't have any trips planned for now. DH is still in a coma from the price tag of the last one, so every time I mention "free dining" he just about collapses :lmao:. I like to tease him, and I would like to go again in August, but it was hard on him last year. I usually take on scheduling our help and picking them up, feeding them and then taking them home. The weather set us behind and I was away for some of the cutting so he had to manage that as well as his own job. Between that and the time I was not around when my Mom was so sick, so he got the stripping and packing done alone too. I don't want that to happen again. He did not mind, but I felt badly.

I have some good news. My youngest son is coming home in May. He has lived in Lake Worth for the past 2 1/2 years, and I have missed him so much. He had a difficult time when my Mom was so sick, he lived with her until he moved to NY, and being so far during her illness was a hardship for him. Anyway, I was able to tell her that he was coming back home, and now I cannot wait! DH is beyond thrilled. Dan was his little sidekick from the time he was 4 Yo and always was his right hand man on the farms, so he has missed him way more than he will admit. There was always something so special between the two of them, and while my Donny tried to fill in the void, he was like a fish out of water.

Also, you all have been so supportive of my nephew I wanted to let you know that he did reenlist. He is in the Marine Reconnaissance Forces and should be in training until January of 2009. My sister doesn't know how to react here. Stateside after 3 tours in Iraq is wonderful, but RECON :scared1:! He Timmy is also a Marine and training as a driver of Humvees, no date for a tour yet, but it is always on her mind. Her daughter Debbie has enlisted (?) in the Marine OTS. She thinks she will be able to pass the physical test in spite of her knee. Her date is in June. I wish she would look in another branch because there are no social workers in the Marines and that is what her degree is in. Gail said if Kim enlists she is going to have a meltdown!

I hope that Spring is good to everyone! And if anyone hears from Tammy, I would love to know how her kids are doing.

we were are booked for the summer
Poly Concierge in JUly for 9 nights
I have emailed the IPO and with my ADRs I made them myself after not hearing from them. Then sent them a follow email and have no heard back about that either. So far the service from them is not as good as the service I got from the WL Ipo( which is the same) last summer.
If I dont hear back from someone today I will call and leave a message

Well, Spring Break is this week for my DD and we decided to do the last minute trip to WDW.:cool1: We're going up thursday and coming back Saturday. Not much of a trip but at least I will be there.

I'm still planning Christmas though -- and for once we are all in agreement on AKL Concierge. Even my DM who will be with us again. (She's not happy about the trip this weekend though. I guess she doesn't "get" Disney:confused3 like we do.)

alicenwndrln: I hope your trip is great. Someday we will also do Poly but I don't think it will be this year which means :sad2: I won't make my New Years Resolution of staying at all the resorts before the end of the year.

Oh well, cheers to all.

:cool1: Hi everyone!

I know it has been way too long since I have posted. Things have been very busy in my household, but we are all doing ok.

Welcome Alicnwondrln - KELLY to our lounge. There are some really wonderful people here. We all have just been very busy with our lives and don't post as often as we would like or should. I'm guilty :rolleyes1 of that one. However, I am going to try and change that.

Your trip sounds great. You will really enjoy Poly concierge. We had a fantastic time there this past Christmas holiday. The IPO was super and really went out of their way for us. I hope you have the same experience.

Minniesummer - Oh, I am thinking of you right now. You are in WDW on your mini spring break Minniesummer trip. Now that really does have a ring to it doesn't it. :) Where are you staying? Be sure to give us some details when you return.

Your Christmas trip ALK....ahh I wish we were going. :santa:

Minnisota- You have been on my mind and in my prayers. Take care and let us know how you are when you feel up to it.

Elizabeth - So glad to learn about your "blessings" That is wonderful. How is your family doing? I hope everyone is healthy. Yes, I did get your PM. I don't remember if I answered it yet, but I will if I didn't. :confused3 ;)

Nancy - I laughed so hard when I read about your husbands reaction when you talk about "free dinning" . Mine would love to go again, and we have Annual passes good through end of the year. However, as he said, you still have to pay for airfare, hotel and such. I am even thinking about talking to him about Shades of Green for late this year. We will have to see. I am anticipating surgery, finally on my knees this fall.

Tammy - Do you have your ears on??? We all have missed you here in the Lounge. (I did hear from Tammy recently, she is fine just very busy with her children and skating. Championships are coming up soon I believe.)

GoofyMuse - You are going to have one fantastic trip. Are you doing the dinning plan? We did it for the first time last Christmas. Our children and grandkids were going with us. It was perfect. Everyone could order whatever they wanted and not worry about price. It made for a very relaxed trip $ wise. I also made ADR far in advance and we did some really great places.

Ladies, I have to run. My lunch is about over and I have a doctors appoitment in an hour. :grouphug: Maybe we can all get this lounge busy again. Have a wonderful afternoon/evening.

Angel

Hi Happy Friday Everyone!

Ok...here is a question. I have a friend who has never stayed at any of the Epcot resorts and wants to stay there for the F&W Fest. What is everyone's favorite resort and why?

:moped: Got to scoot, only have an hour left at work.

Have a great week end.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :grouphug:
