Anybody mail a package to GF before. We are going in October and I really need to send ahead some "stuff" for my DS. He is mildly autistic and I can proudly say the pickiest eater ever!:D Just cereal and stuff. We are going to use the 1/2 grocery stop with TTC so we will get juice and milk etc. Thanks guys!

Questions for you experienced GFer's...If there is space available, will the GF just "give" you an upgrade? I've heard that happening at other resorts but hadn't seen anything re: that here.
My husband, myself and our 2 boys (1 and 3) will be staying there for 3 days before setting sail on the Wonder for 4 days. We arrive Sept 12th and I have seen postings that WDW shouldn't be too crowded then. Anyone have more info about that? Apparently, with a Category 3 booking we get a standard room. From what I've read here, if a standard room is what we end up with, Boca Chica or Big Pine Key looks to be what we should request, no? I called earlier today to ask about rooms on the ship and got a very crabby woman who refused to help me because I booked through a travel agent (who is also not much help!). The GF looks great, I'm sure anything would be more than fine but any help out there would be greatly appreciated!

I just got back last week. I checked in on Aug 12, and had a standard room with a request for Big Pine Key. When I checked in the CM told me I had been upgraded to a Lagoon View in Boca Chica. I have no idea why - maybe too many people had requested Pine Key, and they were out of rooms. I had a great view of the fireworks at night, and had a dormer room at the top of the lodge. I think I would request Pine Key for a standard room but too be honest, I don't think it matters where you are. Pine Key is just a little closer to the main pool, and you could request to be on the end of the lodge closest to the main lodge. I know wherever you are, you will have a great time. We were also on the Wonder 3 years ago - my kids had a fantastic time, and although it wasn't the best cruise food I ever had, the atmosphere and activities made up for it. Just enjoy!

Thanks for all the great info, CD. We'll be at the GF for our first visit on Sunday. We're staying in a suite so we'll be sure to take lots of pictures and post when we get back. Thanks again for helping us get into the DIsney magic early!

I have a question!!!!!!

I have read that there is a couples massage offered at GF Spa. With the Couples Massage, are both people (the couple) in the same treatment room? If they are in the same room, are the tables side by side? Or head to head? I assume that there are 2 massage therapists - one for each person. How long is this massage, and how much does it cost????? I didn't see any info on the main page of the FAQ about the Couples Massage, so I thought I would ask here. Has anyone out there tried the Couples Massage, and what was your opinion?????

I am really interested in this. DH and I just returned from an Alaskan cruise - and we both had hot stone aromatherapy massages. Mine was wonderful, but DH's massage therapist was less than wonderful. I know he would enjoy a little pampering at WDW! Even though it is MY birthday trip, I would like to surprise him (and treat ME of course ;) ) to a fantastic massage!

Any info is greatly appreciated!

reveric, can't wait to see pictures! ;)

krissalee, as far as I know, they can do two massages at the same time, just by opening up doors between rooms. I'm not exactly sure how that works. Hopefully someone else can share their experience.

Hello! I have been reading this thread for info on the Grand Floridian and would like some advice on planning a trip for next June. My husband and I honeymooned at the Poly (which we loved) this summer and combined it with a cruise on the Wonder (loved that too!). We want to plan an anniversary trip but we wanted to know what the most economical way to book a trip is (we did the land/sea package). We are planning to be in WDW for 5 days, but should we do the Vacation package that's on the Disney website (Dream Maker package) or book our nights at the GF and buy our park hoppers separately? Also, the only discounts we would be eligible for are the AAA discounts. Thanks for any advice!:D

Thanks for your quick reply! Do you think requesting a lagoon view room in Boca Chica with a view of the castle and a king bed is too much? I know it's just a request, but I would like to know the odds of getting all of this, if possible. Also, does anyone happen to know the 2003 resort rates or should I call for them? And one more thing....should I call Disney directly to book this or do I have to do it through AAA to get a discount? Sorry for all of the questions, but I'm new to all of this!

You can call Disney CRO (1-407-W-DISNEY) and ask for the AAA discount. For June, with tax, it'd probably be around $430 for a lagoon view room. Humm, I don't know how well your room requests could be honored - there are very few king beds in the resort. I'd request "MK View, king bed, Boca Chica" ~ the order you list them is the order they try to fill the requests in.

Hoping someone else has info as well, on the couples massages. We are going in 2004 ( seems like forever) for our 10th, and I too want to treat hubby & myself to a couples massage.

Hey guys, is there a VCR with the entertainment center?

Thanks Misti, I actually don't think we'll need one. I have a feeling I'll never got my son out of the pool area!

QUESTION ON THE LODGE TOWER ROOMS, HAS ANYONE STAYED RECENTLY? DOES THE COUCH OPEN UP? DOES THE ROOM FEEL ROOMIER ?, BECAUSE OF THE EXTRA AREA. AND WHAT KIND OF VEIWS AND LOCATION DO THEY HAVE? IS THE BACLONEY FULL SIZE?

THANK YOU FOR YOU HELP, WE USED THSES BOARDS FOR OUR LAST TRIP TWO YEARS AGO, VERY HEPLFUL AND LOTS OF INSIDER INFO.

The Lodge Tower rooms have a small sofa in the sitting area. However, the sofa does not open up to a bed. The views are of either the garden, quiet pool or marina. They are located in the lodge buildings--there are 16 of the rooms total. Yes, they feel more spacious. Keep in mind that some of these rooms don't have balconies though.

The floor plan should be on page one of the thread.

:)

The couch in the lodge tower room is actually more like a love seat. Our 2 year old slept on it with a bedrail. :)
