Tammi,
I'm with your 6 yr old! I LOVED sitting on the balcony watching the castle change color! I would book it again in a heartbeat!

CaliD,
I'm in the process of sending you those pix right now! I have to send them one at a time because they won't go as a bunch...too large. I tried, but it got kicked back to me. They are on their way! (finally)
Email me if/when you get them.

Lisa:)

Lisa, so far I've gotten 1 picture of the Conch Room and one picture of the Main Building room (both were facing the door). Those are great pictures, your camera takes a good quality picture (I just bought a digital camera last month to take to WDW --- I hope mine come out as well!). What size and quality were those pictures?

Thanks! ;)

Does anyone know what floor the Clarendon level in the Main Building is? I've heard it is one of the quietest floors at the GF.

I don't know what floor the Clarendon level is on, but they are very quiet rooms located off a private hallway. This is an adults only area and many of the honeymoon suites are located there.

Thank You for your quick response to my question about April rates. We try to plan our time at WDW to start at the end of peak season in April {which I know varies each year due to Easter}because if there are any discounts to be had at this time I know they won't start until then. Please bear with me and all my questions....there is so much to know about the GF. I know when you make a request at other resorts there is no guarantee anout having it met. If we book a Lagoon View and request Boca Chica, is it very likely to get the building we request? I read on your thread that this whole building is non-smoking and this will be our top request.

The Clarendon Level is on the second floor of the Main Building. It is only accessible by the marina/pool elevator. The second floor has concierge honeymoon (jacuzzi) rooms only.

Boca Chica has one of the most amount of Lagoon View Rooms (second to Big Pine Key) so you'd have a pretty good chance getting your request! ;)

Isn't that also where the laundry is located? I used the machine (only one) there and it was VERY noisy! I can't imagine having the room next to or directly across from the laundry room!

hello all...i could sure use some help!...i booked a lagoon view room for july and would like to know if i asked for bocha chica bldg with mk view would i be ok??...is this a good choice?...thanks for any help:confused:

This question may sound bizarre, but I think that some of you are probably knowledgeable enough to give a good answer on it. Right now, we have a lagoon view room booked, and I know that about 2/3 of the lagoon view rooms have MK views, so I figure we have pretty good odds. If we were to upgrade to a honeymoon room, how many of these are there, and how many of them have MK views? Also, is there a difference, like maybe the Jacuzzi honeymoon rooms have better odds of an MK view?
Just wondering if anyone knew the answer - I think a honeymoon room would be nice, but wouldn't be willing to give up our good chances of an MK view.
Another question: of the lodge buildings, are there any buildings that have good views of the MK and the Wedding Pavilion? We are getting married at the Wedding Pavilion, and I would love to be in a room that looks at both, but didn't know if this was physically possible from the GF. Any idea as to a particular building we should request, if this view is possible?
Thanks for any help!
Heather P

hmp2z,

I can't answer all of your questions, but here's what I do know.

I believe both jacuzzi rooms and octagon rooms in the main building can have a view of the MK, but you have to request the view and it isn't guaranteed. However, make sure you let them know it is your honeymoon. The GF staff is known to work extra hard to get you what you want if they know you are celebrating a special occasion.

My wife and I stayed at the GF for our honeymoon several years ago and had a dormer room in the Boca Chica lodge that had a great view of the Lagoon. A dormer room has a higher ceiling and seems bigger. So that may be an option for you. You get a unique kind of room with the view you want.

I don't know about the lodges, but the octagon honeymoon rooms in the main building have multiple windows around the octagon and can have a view of the wedding pavilion and the MK. Of course the benefit of staying in any main building room is they are all concierge rooms!

Another thing, an advantage of the main building is that you are closer to the food and the shops, as well as the monorail. The lodges are more removed.

Please let me know if I can help further. A honeymoon at the GF is something you will always remember!

Well, of the 15 honeymoon rooms, 9 have direct MK views (jacuzzis), and 3 have castle views visable (turrets). The other 2 (turrets) face towards the monorail/gardens/ParkingLot/WeddingPavilion.

:)

Cali-D,

What is the difference between an MK view and a castle view? When we stayed there, I seem to remember only being able to see the castle from anywhere at the GF?

They are basicly the same thing. All lagoon view rooms with a view of the castle are MK view rooms (same with rooms in the main building facing the marina). The turrets with the castle view - you have to look across the courtyard pool and between Conch Key and Boca Chica to see the castle. :) So, MK view and Castle view are the same thing. Just the turret's castle view isn't direct.

Thank you both for your help with these rooms! It sounds like the jacuzzi rooms have better odds of having a MK view.
Thanks again!
Heather P

Cali-D,

Are there not some main building rooms that look over the marina towards the MK (between Sugar Loaf and Sago Cay)? If you look at the top down map of the GF on the first page of this thread, it looks like there is one turret on the main building that could possibly house honeymoon rooms right next to Sugar Loaf. Do you know if that is the case? I'm not sure if the that is a turret or not.

Thanks!

The "turret" that you are talking about houses the Roy Disney Suite on the 3rd floor, the Walt Disney Suite on the 4th floor, and the Grand Suite on the 5th floor. These are all large two-bedroom suites.

Does anyone know where there are photos of the Honeymoon Jacuzzi Rooms in the main building and the the main building suites at the GF?

I'm not CaliD, but I did just stay in one of the rooms you are mentioning. 4401-4409 and 4301-4309 all look down the marina to the castle. There is a suite on that corner near Sugar Loaf, but I'm not sure if you can see the castle from it. (I'm sure Cali can help you better.)

Lisa:)

I have no idea where to find pictures of the Jacuzzi Rooms or the Main Building Suites. I do know of one suite (the Royal Poinciana Suite - 1BR) in the Main Building, Wedding Pavilion View, that there are pictures of it over at "Our Laughing Place" http://www.ourlaughingplace.com - I think it's under "Dormer Cameo theme suite" or something like that.

And, Lisa, yes, you'd be able to see the MK from that suite on the corner by Sugar Loaf. :)

Thanks, Cali-D. I have seen those pics and some of the octagon Honeymoon rooms as well. Some websites refer to the octagon rooms as suites, I have found. It seems if you dig around, you can find pics of just about every room type except for the jacuzzi room. Perhaps someone will post a trip report soon with some!
