Wendy5055 - As PPs have mentioned, all the regular (standard) rooms (those that are not deluxe, tower, suites) are the same decor. I would call the daybed a deep rose pink. The only problem you might face is the dormer rooms, they are slightly smaller and do not have a daybed in them. If you have less than 5 people in the room, it is possible you could be assigned a dormer room - so I would ask that it be noted on your reservation that you cannot have a dormer room. Remind them again at check in.

Good luck, and I hope you have a wonderful trip to the Grand! :sunny:

Hello, can any please tell me how long the walk is from GF to the TTC? We'll be going to Epcot a lot and don't want to switch monorails. We'd rather just walk over to the TTC and get on the Epcot monorail.
Thank you,

Thank you,

I would guess 15 min? I have only walked from the TTA to the GF but we stopped at the POLY for a Dole whip.

Wendy 5055,
Sometimes we forget what Walt had in mind when he built "the happiest place on earth !" I've been going to WDW for more then 25 years now, and through the years, I've had (and have heard about) some personal requests that were, shall we say, different. I've stayed at GF several times, and I can say to you, from personal experiences, that they can be extremely accomodating. Get the phone number for GF (sorry, I don't know it off-hand) and call them and tell them what is going on - I can almost assure you that they will bend over backwards to assist you in an special needs you may have, to make this stay "extra-special" for your daughter.

I have not stayed in a dormer room since before the rehab, but I seem to remember a report or two from those that have had that type of room recently that they did have the daybed. Perhaps someone can confirm? :confused3 They eliminated the amount of furniture in the room with the rehab (now there's the combo desk/pull-out table and chair; instead of the seperate table and club chairs, and desk and chair), so that allows more room for the daybed.

It's probably still a safe request if there's no confirmation that this is indeed now the case, but that's what I remember, as it surprised me.

I agree with Tinkaroo that you should make the request for one. We have only stayed in a dormer room before the rehab, and it didn't have one then, but might now. We also seemed to get an anomoly of a room this past December in RPC. It had double beds, but no daybed. :confused3 My guess is that something happened to the daybed and they hadn't replaced it. They had moved the desk down to where the daybed should have been, and added in two wooden folding luggage racks before the armoire so that the extra space wasn't as noticable.

I hope you have a terrific trip!

Just catching up here...

travelingal Thaks for the review...sorry that the GF was not all that you had anticipated...glad though that you are going to give it another try...we have had many stays there and have always enjoyed our trips....

I would say this though if you want your room vacuumed daily I would just request that...cant hurt to ask...(I actually tought they still did this daily...:confused3 )

Wendy I would agree with PPs that the day beds are a deep rose color...and I would definitely put that in as a request on my reservation...In our experience they have always been so accomodating with our requests...:) Have a great trip!!

Mandy Thanks for the pool activity pic and info...seems like they have added activities since our last trip....looks like alot of fun for the kids!!! wonder if it will be the same in the summer months...:confused3 Hope so!!!

Tinkaroo - I have not stayed in a dormer room since the rehab, either, and have not read any reports on them. So, you could be right that they have now included daybeds in the dormer rooms. Our dormer room in Conch Key did not even have a table, or a desk, it just had two chairs (they were chairs with arms, like a padded desk chair), an armoire, mini bar, two beds and night stand. But they might be able to put a daybed there, it would be crowded, but it's possible.

Here are a couple photos that show our room:

The first one shows the chairs, although it is very dark; the second shows the wall that the chairs/armoire/mini bar are on, so you can see what I mean about the space. I wish I had a better photo of that whole wall!

I hope someone who has recently stayed in a dormer room can pop in and let us know if they had a daybed - I'd be interested to know for sure, too!

Wendy5055- my room was in Conch Key. Like the others have said, the daybeds are all the same color now. The biggest obstacle would be a room that doesn't have one at all.

Good luck!:wizard:

I looked at some photos and reviews of the new decor on the old FAQ thread, and HockeyMomR did stay in a dormer room with a daybed! Her photos show that she had a fourth floor dormer room that seems to be a bit larger than my fifth floor dormer room - it had room for a chair and ottoman between the beds and the wall, whereas my dormer room had no room between either bed and the wall for a chair. I did not realize that some of the dormer rooms were a different size!

Does anyone know which standard Garden View rooms have pink daybeds? I know it is a silly question, but dd7 (obsessive about some things...high functioning autism) is already talking about sleeping in a "PINK" daybed like we saw online!!!!! :scared1: This just worries me if they are in the higher level rooms. She could possibly have a meltdown over this as crazy as it sounds...it happens and she will definately talk for weeks (even a year from now) about how her bed was NOT pink and how it should have been PINK and just why they don't have PINK...etc. etc. etc.

Just to give you an idea...last night was easy...she attends ice skating classes and was upset that her class was moved to a different rink without the husky under the ice. She talked non-stop for 1 hour straight about how little kids need the husky and how it was not right and that they must be doing construction to have moved them...on and on and on for a 1 hour car ride home.

Long story short, it does not generally faze me...but may raise some eyebrows when a 7 year old begins crying earnestly about a PINK bed. :guilty: So, in the spirit of preparing her for what MIGHT happen OR attempting to make absolute certain some details might be doeable...does anyone know the location of the rooms with PINK daybeds??????

I have read through all the post about the days bed and yes it is pink and yes it should be in a standard GV room!

I know we had three adjacent rooms in Big Pine Key in March 08 and all 3 had the daybed and then in June 08 I was in a dormer room in SL that had NO day bed at all. So it is pretty safe to say (and judging from the post below) that the Dormer rooms are inconsistent and the Standard GV rooms are your best bet. :thumbsup2

Have a magical trip and i hope your daughter enjoys her sleep on the "pink bed"! princess:

Well, fellow GF fans I was over at the GF for probably the last time this trip this am. Had a hair appointment and shopped a bit.

Since I last visited in January, there are two new styles of GF mugs. A dainty white with pink and black trim bone porcelain style mug and a larger off white mug with an embossed picture of the GF.

A number of new soaps in Basin including a cute shamrock one. Several Spring designs. I shipped almost all of my purchases there home.

We did have our birthday celebration at Citricos. Dinner was wonderful and the cakes were great. Linda was very prompt in getting back to me after I told her what I wanted. She called back in a matter of minutes to confirm that what I wanted could be done and to give me prices. The filling ended up not being what I ordered but it was close;) . Most importantly, the cakes were delicious and beautiful. And the birthday boys had personalized menus.

So we've had one breakfast and three lunches at GF Cafe this trip. Dinner at Citricos and Narcoossee's (sorry DD:sad1: ). Oh, the menu at Citricos is different than the one posted but not in major ways....things get tweaked there all the time I think.

The lobby floor is still carpeted. There's a larger TV in Mizner's than last time I noticed but that may be old news.

Have fun anyone going soon.:thumbsup2

I have one of the gf mugs. I will have to post it.

I have one too! I have a great friend that got one for me to remember a special trip! ;)

I have one of the porcelain mugs too...use it every day!!! Love it!!! But I had to buy my own....:rotfl:

BCV I wish they would have had the shamrock soap when I was there in February...didnt see any...wonder if that would be available online..?? But I did get some nice spring looking ones...wonder if they'll have any with an Easter theme...sounds like you had a nice long trip and lots of good dining...GF Cafe is always a must for us too...:)

Dawn I think I have a Basin soap obsession to add to my list...would love to know if they will have Easter decorated soap....maybe you could find out and if they are available to order...please....:goodvibes

:flower3: You are all so very helpful and I was teary eyed a couple of times with such warm and helpful responses to my question about the daybeds. You are all so wonderful!!!!

I have decided that I will call the Grand and speak to them about the pink daybed situation. Hopefully that will get us into a room with one! Otherwise, I will have an unhappy girlie sleeping (or not) in my bed!!!!:scared1:  I love her though and like I always say...it's a real good thing she is so darned cute!!! :rolleyes1

We have an 8am ADR at Cape May Cafe (Beach Club) and I am not sure HOW to get there!!! Can you tell me the best way and how much time I should allow for getting there?

Also...we are going to EPCOT that day, can we walk to there from the BC? Or do we have to take a bus? That is the one resort besides AK that confuses me about transportation.

My dd7 chose these smilies...:dance3:

Since it is SO EARLY I would take a cab. Not sure how early the buses would run. We normally monorail to MK and grab the BC bus, but our ADR is usually a lot later than that. We always allow at least an hour to do it.

You can walk to EPCOT from the BC (or take a boat).
