For those who were curious about the pillows, DD gave them a big :thumbsup2
She said they are just like she remembered so I'm happy she's happy.:goodvibes DS (I bought one for him too) said he thought it was "pretty good" but he doesn't have the same recollection about how much we loved the pillows. He thinks we need to return very soon so his memory can be refreshed!:rotfl2: I agree with him - if we could only find the time...

Until then, I may order some pillows for me and DH...

Ok...I've gone back quite far to find this and other info about the pillows...was there every any other info posted??? Where can we order the GF pillows? I LOVED the pillows and really would like to purchase some for our home. Can someone that knows post the info or tell me what post # to find it in???
Thanks for the help :)

We're booked at GF gv for our February trip. I tried to get TPV of SL but none was available for that time frame of the 7/4 package. We've stayed lots of times GF gv though and I don't think we ever had a bad view. We've stayed several times at Sago Cay and once at Conch Key gv. We had TPV in Big Pine Key and Sago Cay and I think Sago Cay is absolutely the best TPV at the GF.

I'm counting the days! This will my in in-laws first stay at the GF, I'm so excited for them. I was in the hospital for a few days this week, with a big scare - but nothing serious in the end. The thought of getting to the GF really kept me going.

I agree with Channing - for some reason WL holds no appeal for me, although I know lots of people that just love it. We go back and forth between GF and Poly (for MK time) and BC and YC (for EPCOT time).

23 days to go!!!!!!

We used to be huge WL fans, but we used to go in the first 5 years it opened, when it was a little known secret at WDW. Now it seems to have lost its appeal somewhat. The last few times we stayed there, we felt it was overcrowded and showing a lot of wear and tear. I'm not a huge fan of the recent refurb. Although I haven't stayed there since it happened, I think I would be disappointed from looking at the photos. You know, it's funny.....when we first started going to WL before we had kids, we thought GF was "way too stuffy" and not our style. Now WL seems to be less our style. It's funny how our tastes change over time.

I haven't even stayed at the GF yet and I ordered several of the pillows over the weekend as well as the bath products . I'm excited to get everything:goodvibes . I have the Resorts Collection booklet from our CL stay at the Poly and I love all the GF stuff in there..the Mickey Lamp is adorable. Can't wait to see it in person.
Is the Mickey lamp in all rooms or only RPC and SL rooms? I hope that's not a dumb question!!!

Shell That lamp is in all the rooms...I think its adorable too...How nice that you have shopped in advance! You are going to love the GF...:)

Isn't that lamp adorable? I'm glad they kept it in the new decor.

The pillows are the same ones that the Polynesian has...very comfy.

Thank you. I'm assuming the pillows at GF are the luxury pillows?

No, minniesota did some research and learned they are the least expensive option...the Ultra-Rest style. She posted about it around New Years and again in early January. Her daughter is very happy with them. Hope that helps.

Thank you! I remember her posting on it but I've been looking and looking and cant' seem to find her posts :( Ok...I'm glad I waited to confirm. I really didn't want to spend a bunch of money on pillows to be unhappy with them LOL :)

I will let you all know about the pillows - they are due here tomorrow! They are the Ultra-Rest which is a down alternative and happen to be the least expensive of the bunch. I hope they are the same!

HA FINALLY found it! Ok...thanks minniesota for posting the info and thanks BCV for pointing me in the right direction! I'll be ordering some and letting you all know what I think!

Thanks Blue Skies and BCV23. That Mickey lamp is so cute in the catalogue..can't wait to see it person! I got an email that my pillows and other goodies have been shipped so I will be getting them soon. They are being FedExed so it won't be long:)

We had contemplated switching to GF later this week, but someone said the pool is going to be closed for refurbishment, but I couldn't find any details about it. Does anyone know about the pool being closed????? Thanks.

This is from Allears.net: The Beach Pool (feature pool) at the Grand Floridian Resort will be closed for refurbishment January 5 – January 23, 2009. The Courtyard Pool (quiet pool) and kiddie pool will be available. Grand Floridian guests can also use the Nanea Volcano Pool and Pool Slide at the Polynesian Resort during this time.

It is closed I was just there however the quiet pool and kiddie pool are open. You get a letter in your welcome packet telling you about your access to the Poly pool as well. I don't know how long it will be closed only that it is right now.

The "quiet" pool at the GF is the courtyard pool the one located right in the middle of most of the outer lodges...

It is big has a shallow and deep end and is where the kiddie pool and hot tub are located...

The themed pool is nice(its got a slide and water fall) but the courtyard pool is very nice too...beautiful surroundings...relaxing atmosphere...

My family and I went to Disney October and stayed at the GF~ I cried like a baby the day we left. I decided soon after we left that no matter what it took- the price or the time~ we would go back in the near future.

I am happy to report that I am in the midst of making plans to go back and stay at the GF again!!

The best thing of all is that I came across this group which has confirmed the fact that I am not alone in my love for Disney (and the GF)

I want this upcoming stay to be even better than before (not sure if that is possible) so I am trying to book the best room that I can for our stay. Last time; we stayed in the Conch Key. I would like to get a bigger room and be on a Concierge Level as well. I have 3 beautiful little girls, me and my husband so it can get a little tight in the space department.

Any advice on booking my room? I am currently using Disney online to book and it looks like the upgrade rooms that are available are Outer Lodge- Standard Room- Club Level and Standard Room- Club Level. The Standard Room Club Level is more expensive but I'm not familiar with the types of rooms so I was hoping someone could help me?!!!

This board is great! Thanks for all of your hard work and posts- this has really made my day!

I have to agree about the relaxing atmosphere...we got one day where the weather was nice enough to swim so we took the kids and it was so enjoyable to hang out by the pool, have a drink, and watch our kids have fun in the pool. It was soooo relaxing! I loved walking by it everyday as well...it was so peaceful especially at night. I don't think anyone would be missing out by not having the main pool open :)

Hi! Welcome to the GF thread.:goodvibes Yes..we are GF lovers here!:)

The "Standard Room - Club Level" is in the main building. It is called "Royal Palm Club". The rooms are on floors 3 and 4. They are the same size as the other rooms in the outer lodges, though. YES, it's concierge access...but the rooms are basically the same. You have a DVD player in a club room...that's the only difference.

There are "Deluxe Club Level" rooms in the main building which are much larger than standard rooms...however they only sleep 4 with 2 queens. If your youngest daughter is 3 or under, you could book this type of room. There are very few though....so availability might be an issue. They are about 650/700 sq feet vs the standard rooms which are about 440 sq ft.

The "Outer Lodge Club level" rooms are in the Sugar Loaf Lodge. Once again...the rooms are the same. There are 3 lodge tower rooms in SL that are request only. These are a bit larger with the turret area as an extra seating area....FYI the 4th floor lodge tower room does not have a balcony. And...these also sleep 4 with 2 queen beds...so only an option if your youngest is 3 or under.

My favorite is RPC in the main building. The CMs are FANTASTIC and the housekeeping and lounge ....it's all wonderful. :goodvibes

Hope that answers some of your questions. Happy planning!!!!pixiedust:

From the MK, can you take the monorail in the direction towards the GF or do you have to go back around the entire loop to get there?

I can't remember if it travels in both directions or not.

TIA

Hi, you have to take the full loop around...the other monorail - the one that goes the other direction does not stop at the GF...it goes directly to the TTC...and b/f to the MK.

There is a boat that goes from MK to GF directly.

Happy travels,

Lives4Disney :)

I just got off the phone with Vonnie from the RPC and she says hi to everyone !!!
It's cold in Florida right now :sad1:
