Since we will be at the GF during spring break which is week before Easter - Will the GF be decorated special? Easter bunnies, etc....Does anyone know?

Hi all,

Newbie here. I am amazed at all the great info you've compiled. I have been working my way thru the posts and am learning so much.

I was hoping to get some feedback on a special situation. During our visit to the GF in May, we were hoping to meet up with some friends who live in the Tampa area. One can come for 1/2 a day, the other for a full day, both are bringing their dh's and 2 kids.

We were talking about spending the day at the hotel, maybe go out on some boats, and hang out at the pool. We opted not to visit the parks since it wouldn't give us a chance to talk and really visit.

Is it going to be a problem for all of us to go to the pool? Is there a strict no visitor policy? If so, do you have any other suggestions for places to spend time together?

Thanks,
T

Has anyone used the Magical Express? What are your opinions, experiences....I am really nervous about using it during Spring Break - any opinions would be appreciated.

I really like it, but you are going to be there at a really busy time. I hope you dont have to wait very long to get on the bus. Cause it can seem like forever after you get off the plane intill you get to resort, but they run it very well I have used it 2 times and loved it.

Welcome to the Dis and Welcome to our thread!!! :goodvibes
You should be fine at the pool with your guests. If you really want to spoil everyone- rent a cabana!! See page 1 for details and pricing.

I think renting one of the bigger boats from the Marina sounds terrific (We usually do a Boston Whaler but I am not sure how many people it holds). I am pretty sure they have Pontoon boats as well which obviously hold more. If you wanted time away from the resort, you could also go to DTD Marketplace or the Westside and tour the shops.

Have fun!

We have used ME 3 times, but never in peak season. We have always been fortunate to get on a bus immediately after checking in and being the first or second stop (First at POR, second at AKL and second at GF). We are almost always at the front desk with in 60 minutes of landing (and we always fly in on a Sat or Sun). We really enjoy it if for nothing else than not having to get our luggage!! We skycab it here at home and use the resort airline desk for the return trip- we love it!

HTH!

Hey Welcome

Our friends come with their 4 kids every year to meet us at the GF. Thats 5 of them all together. We rent a cabana (I gave the pool staff a heads up and asked if it was OK) and stay at the pool until 2:00, then the girls take showers, while the boys play video games at Gaspies. Then the boys take showers while the girls shop. I make dinner ressies real early so we can sit together. This year is the first time we are going into the parks. My friends kids are just tortured by not going in but it is an expensive DAY for them. Renting the boats sounds like a great idea, maybe next year if the park thing doesn't work this year.

By the way, mousekeeping was great. I gave her a heads up and she had tons of towels waiting for us and she straightened up after we all left. I wish she would come home with me!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

What is the earliest that anyone has been aloud to check in? Regular rooms and concierge.

You can check in at any time. If your asking when you can go to your room, that depends on if it is ready or not. We have checked in as early as 9 a.m. and gotten our room, and we have checked in at other times, and our room was not ready until after 3 p.m. I would say, as soon as you get to the resort, go ahead and check in. Get this part of your vacation out of the way, before the crowds start showing up. ;)

We always check in asap so we can at least store our luggage and move on. ALSO, I like to see the room location options and have as much choice as possible early on. :)

Happy planning,

We checked in around 11 last time. Our group had 3 rooms in a row, with 2 connecting.

At 1pm we were able to get into 2 of the rooms but the 3rd room which was the connecting room took another hour or so.
We had a snack in the lounge and then took our friends on a tour of the resort since it was their first visit.
