Hi, Grannieminnie! I leave in......8 days!!!:cool1: :cool1: hm....just looked at my counter and it's off. I leave next Tues.

So, what's this about the GF Cafe & Cobb salad?? :goodvibes We love that, too!! I always make an ADR at Brown Derby for theirs. :thumbsup2 In all our WDW trips we have never eaten at the GF Cafe.:confused3 :confused3 Maybe we will get a chance to give it a try this time. Have you tried the BD for Cobb salad?? It is very chopped. Not like what they serve at home, but it's good.:)

I am curious about Werfamiy's stay,too.....also Fairytale Bride's.

Channing :goodvibes

I can't believe how fast that happened!!! I am so excited for you!!! I am in desperate need of a vacation and some nice weather!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Me too!!! I already kind of have post trip depression! How does that happen?? It seemed to go so fast and I know the vacation will, too.:rotfl:

I hope when I come back it's spring here.:goodvibes (keep wishing, right?!)

Channing :)

I don't think it is ever going to be Spring here....50's on Wednesday and then cold again for the weekend. I would love to take the girls to an Easter Egg Hunt...but way tooo cold!

I hope you have a great trip!

Im planning on going down to AAA this week, but my work has been so crazy lately. Just wonder has anyone heard if GF is filling up for August yet?

Sarah

I posted this in the main forum, but since I am staying at GF thought some of you experts may have some better insight.

We are booked for October 08. Initially I requested Boca Chica. I have changed my mind and would like to request Conch (we booked GV). I called CRO and the CM said they cannot change my request only put my new request in our ressies notes. It wont make or break our trip but I sure would like to stay in Conch Key. Do you think the room assigners will actually look at our "notes" or just assume we still want Boca Chica?

Hi Channing I sent you a pm a week or so ago :) I see you are getting ready for another trip!!!

I just read Kelly's Dream prize! Wow, that one brought chills:) How Wonderfully fun!!

The Cobb salad at the GF Cafe is great, isn't it? Lunch at the Cafe is almost always included in our trips. We had lunch there just two weeks ago.:goodvibes

The Sand Trap also serves a great Cobb. Neither are as finely chopped as BD. They don't have that spongy consistency.

The only Cobb I've had at WDW that I haven't enjoyed is the version at Wolfgang Puck Cafe. But there are plenty of other good things on their menu.

Everyone headed to WDW soon, have fun! We used to always go during Spring break. Great memories but I'm loving the flexibility of going during less busy times now!:cool1:

No, we've not had the Cobb salad at the BD before...truth is, it's been years since we've even been to that park! The Cobb salad at the GF cafe is very chopped also. I just love it...the way they chop the lettuce, and arrange all the other ingredients in a nice line across the top. You can see everything you're getting, and the salad dressing is good too. It's such a big salad that my sis and I can share it, plus get some of those good crab cakes (appetizer section) and make a meal of it.
So, you're at 8 days??!! On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are ya? 25????

Just got back from GF this weekend. As always, it was great. I was expecting some big crowds, but at least on Thurs, and Fri., it was kind of empty, I walked on to every ride. DH and I were at the PP party on Thurs. night and we were the only people on the street in front of the train station with 15 min. before the parade started. It had been raining so maybe that was the reason :confused3 . We were staying RPC, and the first night I just could not sleep and didn't want to wake up DH by turning on the t.v., so I got up and went to the lounge and the t.v. was on and I was sitting there watching and someone from the front desk came by and was talking to me, they left and pretty soon came back with a plate of cookies and a glass of milk. . Those were the best cookies, plus they were warm. I almost set the alarm clock the next night for the middle of the night just to see if I could get some more of those cookies ;).

Having had both the Brown Derby and GF Cafe Cobb salad any number of times, I can report that the GF version is not chopped nearly as finely as BD. But both are excellent just quite different.

Also at the Cafe, the dressing is served on the side. Over the years, some in my family have requested a different dressing...no problem.

Fishy&2guppies, what a sweet thing for the CM to do! Glad you had a great stay.

Hi Channing I sent you a pm a week or so ago :) I see you are getting ready for another trip!!!

When I booked I requested a monorail view, Then when I saw pictures on this thread of monorail/marina view I called to change my request no problem. I would call back.
Good luck........

Traci, I replied to your PM....hope you got it. I agree with the PP...call back. I think that CM just didn't want to bother changing it.

GrannieMinnie & BCV!!:goodvibes You guys have my mouth watering for a Cobb salad. Yummm......that is DD11's & my favorite at BD. It is super chopped there....they don't even really show you what's in it...it arrives and they start mixing away. I am used to the kind GF Cafe serves, from how it sounds. I like a Cobb salad any way I can get it. I am going to try GF Cafe's if I can get in there.:thumbsup2 YES! I am super excited. I am so sick of this awful weather......looking forward to anything above 35 degrees.

Fishy&2guppies....that is so nice.:) Anything else to share about your stay?? Hope it was great. Sounds like you hit on the perfect time. I can't remember the last time we went and had low crowds.

Not to much to report on our trip, it was just a quick 2 night stay trip with us arriving late on the first day and leaving early in the morning after our second night. We only had one full day at Disney. We stayed in a turret room which was a change for us, and now I will want to stay in one everytime, we loved it, but I did miss not being able to go out onto a balcony. We did get asked to be VIP's at the PP Party parade. They took us to this roped off section right in front of the barber shop. There was no one where we were originally sitting, and there was REALLY no one over in that corner. But it was kind of a neat place to stand and watch the parade. They come around that turn by the train station and it is a straight on shot of the parade and they exit the route right there and you can see backstage. They do in fact continue in character and they also continue to dance and wave to no one all the way around this corner backstage until you can't see them anymore. It was kind of funny to see the characters waving to the sides of the buildings.
