Oops! I thought "Sugar Loaf Club" just indicated the location of the concierge services, not the location of my room.

CRO said that they couldn't tell me what outer lodge building I would be in, but I could make requests. However, CRO didn't seem to know the locations or views of the 1BR suites and couldn't make any recommendations.

I'm just hoping to make an informed reservation request in hopes of getting an MK view.

Thanks again!

NEWireless - Just wanted to say....Welcome!!! You WILL love the GF!!! I am sorry I don't know much about the SL Building, but everyone here will help you out!!:flower3:

Hmm....well from your ressie confirmation saying SLoaf....I believe almost for sure that that is the lodge your booked suite will be in. If I am right, and it's a one bedrm in SL, you won't have a MK view. There really are no MK views from SL...just the marina and the pool view. SL is right near the marina and you can sit at a table and watch Wishes from the marina, but I know it's not the same as the castle view from your own room.

With some suites, you will have access to both SL and RPC (main building concierge) and with other suites it will just be one or the other. I just think the way it's stated SL outer lodge that this particular suite is in the SL building.

I think I would email the GF IPO (concierge planning service) and let them know your plans....the ressie conf. and they can tell you FOR SURE where you'll be and maybe if there are other suite options that will have a MK view. Unfortunately, often CRO is little to NO help with these room selection/view questions.

Hey all! Just wanted to say thanks for all of your posts and help! We just got back from the most wonderful trip. I am bone tired and the house is trashed, but I have been spending the morning writing a trip report! I just don't want the magic to end.

We have spoiled ourselves by spending our first DW trip at the Grand Floridian. I can't imagine anything else now. It was all perfect!

Hi Everyone!

Hope all of you Chicago folks are doing ok... I spoke with my sister awhile ago and she said you are having another horrendous snow. DVC MARY.. hope you were able to get out... but more importantly I hope everyone is safe.

Yikes... marble on the stairs I can not imagine. I asked a CM about when the floor was going to be done and she said oh it's a long story what happened I'll tell you in a minute. We got side tracked in our talking and then I forgot to go back to the floor!! :rolleyes1 So sorry... but now my curiosity is even more peaked.

Ya know, it is a funny thing I guess about men and RPC... I think after this trip and having RPC even I will be able to get DP to go back to concierge level without to much arm twisting... it's kinda amazing! But I am not complaining!:woohoo:

I am working on uploading some picutes now... so shortly... but don't get too excited... dare I say I actually took none of the lounge... what was I thinking???:confused3

But I can tell you on Super Bowl Sunday they had some of these wonderful little pastries in the evening that had team banners etc... they were so cute!! Also, did not see the cream for the scones... and DP did see the gray meat on a stick and although he loved everything served I won't mention what he thought of that "treat".... and mind you he loves, hot spicy exotic etc. We were there often in the mornings, it was busy but never had a problem getting a table and the kids loved the furniture sized for them! We really enjoyed breakfeast there.

Ok a few pictures to start with:

The bathroom looks to have been updated and this was the wallpaper which I loved.. Mousekeeping was great and we got lots and lots of toiletries etc...

No towel animals persay... but we did come back to this one evening:

IMG_4871.jpg

and it was added to the next evening with towel love doves... (have to look for that pciture.)

Speaking of mousekeeping, we had turn down every evening... no real problems... and I really like there towel wraps...

No real room pictures... but it pretty much was the same as all of the other pcitures posted ofthe re-modeled rooms... What made the room was the incredible view... it was nothing short of a WOW!

The Balcony... (with DS who thinks he must read the paper.. even though he's 4 and can't read yet...)

...and one of the night views.. sorry the picture isn't better... will look for another..

More to come...

Best,

While I am waiting for others to upload here are some pictures of Gaspies (sp?)

For what it is worth we really like the food there... it was often busy around the fireworks but otherwise it was a breeze. We found it always to be wells tocker, fresh and lots of choices... We love the chocolate mousse cake YUMMY:love: There was sushi on several nights. The arcade is small, but it works for my youngins... but I am sure any avid gammer (is that a word?) woudl be disappointed. Ok, enough rambles, here are the pictures:

NeverSayNever, thank you for the photos. Your view was amazing! Would you stay concierge again or standard room next time?

Hi guys!

I'm stuck at an airport motel. All the flights got canceled & we tried to get on all of then including ones to Tampa. There seems to be some discrimination against letting a family of 5 on standby--they'll take 10-20 people who are individuals or couples.....but we couldn't get on. :confused3 I tried pointing this out to the gate agent but to no avail.

We have an 8:50 am that gets us in at 2pm (yuck). We will try to get on the 8:25 that arrives at noon. We have to go to Tampa & then rent a car.

I'm getting really bummed & starting to feel like I made a mistake in trying to do this short trip. We have trip insurance--but we can't stay longer.

I hope when we get there that we can still make it extra special for Nana--my Mom. I hope this whole ordeal today hasn't worn her out for the start of our trip.

Thanks for reading me whine......:sad1:

Neversaynever, Thanks for the great photos! What a great upgrade and I'm glad you enjoyed RPC! I love that place!:cloud9:

DVCMary , PD for you and your family so that you get on that earlier flight today and get there with no more glitches! The drive over from Tampa is less than an hour and a half and it will all be worth it once you get to the GF and parks!:)

Neversaynever -- Great pictures! Keep them coming, please.

DVCMARY-- sending you lots of PD and prayers. Stay safe!

distherapy -- great TR! I'm getting homesick just reading about the GF and your trip! ;)

Poor DVCMary!! Fingers crossed that you get out OK :wizard:
NeverSayNever- greast pics!! Keep'em coming!!!

To my fellow IL-er's I think we ended up with about 15" when it was all said and done :scared1:

Take Care!
Kristin

Stay Focused....Think of the end of the rainbow!!!

Neversaynever - I feel like I still have such a long wait!!! But looking at your pictures gets me so excited!!! Thanks!!!:woohoo:

I'm really enjoying the pictures! :thumbsup2 My DD wants to stay at the Grand Floridian (I'm trying not to break out in hives but it's for *her*) so I'm looking forward to reading all about folks experiences at the GF. We usually do activities at the GF while staying at the Polynesian so it'll be interesting to finally stay there.

NeversayNever - great pictures - thanks for sharing them!!! I am so glad you wound up having a wonderful time!!! I hope your DP will consider concierge again. ;) It is funny about men. :rolleyes1

DVC MAry - Here's some pixie dust & good thoughts for you. :flower3: Hopefully once you're there it will all turn aroudn for you and be magical.

Distherapy!
I love your TR so far! Thanks for the link.:goodvibes

Cinderumbrella - I (w/my 4 wheel drive) couldn't get out of my driveway today....they plowed us in. :sad2: Had about 2 ft at the top of the hill by the rd. It was a BAD morning.:rotfl: DH was out there snowblowing for me at 7 am...DD11 had to miss band and take the later bus.

MsStinkerBelle - Welcome to the GF thread.:thumbsup2

Happy day,

Hi, I am new so my apolgies if this has been covered.

We are going to Disney at the end of the month and have 2 rooms reserved. They could not guarentee that we would get adjoining rooms. My parents are going so I would love adjoining rooms. Last time we went with my parents there was not a problem. Has anyone had a problem where they could not get adjoining rooms at this time of year? Thanks so much.

Also , my inlaws were going to come down for one night but the people at the disney phone number said you cant get a room for just one night. Later when my husband called them to try to get one in his name since we are staying a week and got two rooms already they said the hotel was completely booked?? What is going on, does anyone know?

The problem is that in the next couple weeks the spring break season starts. Things get booked up fast.
Or they could be filled up for a conference. I would keep trying for that room for one night. Things change all the time and that is not true - YOU CAN BOOK a room for one night. Not sure what they were talking about unless they meant that it wasn't available.:confused3
What you probably really want is "connecting" rooms.....with the door from room to room. Adjoining means they will be next to eachother but not necessarily connect together. Every GF room I have stayed in has the connecting door, though! Maybe they all do. All you can do is requst it and then at check in verify that that is what you've been assigned...if not just ask for what you want and cross your fingers it's available.:wizard:

Keep trying for that extra room.

Good luck!

Hi! we are traveling with a gg in Dec and staying for the first time concierge at SL. We were looking for some advice on how to use the IPO to pre-plan our trip. Should we make our own ADR's? We were also wondering if there are rooms on the first floor and do they have closed in balconies and are things loud there due to the lounge?

Thanks for any help!
