Channing I'm glad to hear the champagne is good, I love it and love to celebrate with it! It would be great to have WDW (or GF) flutes to drink it, too. The strawberries w/ the warm chocolate dipping sauce sound divine! I think that could be the one.

Yes I did mention to IPO that we were celebrating our anniversary so we'll see what happens. Whatever magic they provide will be much appreciated.
They told me to let my husband know the Disney florist provides beautiful arrangements  :rotfl:

Thanks for the good wishes. And to you, too in September :goodvibes
We spent our 20th in Las Vegas and California and our 25th was 2 glorious weeks in Hawaii. Milestones are wonderful aren't they? and should be celebrated BIG. But now we celebrate every year no matter what. This will be 28 years for us. And I am thrilled we're going to be at my favorite place!

We don't usually do much for our anniversary because of our 3 kids. HOPING my parents will be able to come up from AZ to hang with them so DH and I can get away....otherwise the kids may just have to come with. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a great time!:thumbsup2

Tips.....
You guys andyour fancy tip envelopes!! (You put me to shame:laughing: ) I just write a litte note that says "Housekeeping, THANK You!" on GF notepaper or a scrap of whatever I can find lying around the room - even the back of a receipt, haha, and put it on the nightstand with my tip. I haven't ever had a problem with them not taking it.:)

Happy day!

Channing:)

smwf71,

Distherapy covered your specific questions but I wanted to add that I have always had good food at Gaspy's. It is (in my opinion) one of the nicest and best fast food areas at Disney. They will have plenty to choose from as far as food goes at the Grand with all of the restaurants. The CR and Poly have great restaurants too and they are just a short monorail ride away so that would be very convenient too. Make sure they catch the fireworks out at the boat launch a couple of times too and see the water parade. I love doing that stuff at night.

channing, I use the envelopes to keep my DD busy :rotfl:
she is a little artist and takes hours making up these envelopes:cheer2:

Has anyone here heard about the extensive remodeling planned for the GF main lobby? I know all the rooms have been redone, but now they are suppose to be doing the lobby.(in May) I got this info over on the weddings boards here and some brides have been told they are redoing the staircase and they are making it seem like it will be a major remodel. I love the way the GF looks and that is why I have picked it for our Vow Renewal in 2009. I'm just worried it will look drastically different. Anyone know what is planned?

kelly-thanks! i would love a lodge tower room but really want a balcony!

envelopes-i alwyas make them, and print them off, so fun! we always levae ours in between the two sinks and even put "we love towel animals!" on it, and we usualy got towel animals!

no prob Heather.
Those rooms are fab we had back in July and we loved the extra space and really needed it because of one of our sons. THe IPO was really great and out in a request for us and it came thru. I was very impressed.

Hi GF experts - I don't know if you remember me from the fall, but I wrote to ask you some questions for my grandmas March trip - she and her friend - both 83 - are headed to the GF for 11 days 3/1 -3/11

Now I need tips - can they buy a bottle of wine in a gift shop - how's the selection and how much?

They are talking about packing a bottle in a suitcase - I am trying to talk them out of that.

Coffee in the room - if I sent some better coffee with them, would I just get a lb of ground coffee and do I neeed coffee filters- if yes, what size?

They are on the DDP (not dx) - can you suggest some good breakfasts or snacks for them at Gaspies. I want to make this easy for them.

They're basically hanging out and doing AK one day and one table service/ day - Hoop Dee Doo one day - any ideas for other things?

I really want this trip to be flawless - I have been lurking on your thread for months. Thanks for all the pics.

Thanks for the wine and coffee tips and anything else.

They have garden view and hopefully a shower with handrails so they won't fall. Is there any specific room request I should have their TA make?

Thanks to all!

I also remember people buying wine in the gift shop in the main building (Sandy Cove). I don't know if they still do, but they did have an assortment, my DH doesn't drink wine so I didn't really look to closely!!:)

Thanks for that info. I also had wondered which ones had balconies. Heatherlynn, that is cool to be able to request the specific room that you know has exactly what you want. My husband and I had a deluxe room on a trip by ourselves at the BW. Even without our children that extra room was wonderful.

Haven't been on in a long time, actually since our Nov 07 stay at the GF. At the time, all buildings were refurbished except Sago Cay I believe. We are planning a Oct 08 trip and are requesting a Lagoon View this time. Which is the best building for a great Lagoon View? Is Sago Cay now refurbished. (I would think the answer is yes). Thank you in advance for your replies:)

Hi everyone...

Sorry I don't have time at the moment for a long post but I would like to get everyone's opinion on a dilemna (if only all my woes were of this nature)...

We are considering going back in APril... and I now have 2 reservations with a bounceback code from when we were just there... they are...

1. GF GV for 3nights (I am trying to add another night) 2nd week

2. YC Water/pool view 4nights 1st week...

Ok.. a couple of background pieces...

We have only made 2 trips to Disney both GF stays (which I LOVE!!!) have only been to MK. We have 4yr old twins and I have some mobility/back issues (I usually end up having to use a ECV inthe actual park). Besides loving GF one ofthe reason we picked this resort initially was the monorail to MK which has been awesome. Transporation/logistics with not a lot of walking is big. Love GF because of the atmosphere/quiet and the food options/restaurants...

This trip, if we get to go in April... we are hoping to do Epcot for 2 days and 1 pool day/relax day.

So given this... which option/resort above should we pick and why?? I guess the only other thing that might influence it is we do have a resv for Sept. at GF for 5nights (I think... w made this last Sept when we were there) as of now we think this will happen... but who knows..

Ok...thoughts/opinions/votes PLEASE....

Thanks in advance... You guys are AWESOME!!

Best,

Never

I would stay at the YC based on your post. I stayed there in Dec and getting to Epcot is so easy. Also the pool is really nice there. There are some great food options in that area as well.

Good Luck :)

hm thats tough b/c I LOVE the GF!!!
yacht club is close to Epcot, but you would have to walk there. from teh GF you could take teh monorail to the TTC and then the monorail to Epcot, so I guess I am really no help! guessit just depends on if you want to try somethign new!

We haven't stayed LV since they added MK view but we loved our lagoon views from Big Pine (close to Main Building, theme pool) and Boca Chica ( close to courtyard pool) :)
All buildings have been refurbished now except Main Building will be having the lobby floors and supposedly staircase refurbished in June.

NeverSayNever: I'll add my .02 worth--I would choose the YC this time. We stayed YC in Dec '06, and I absolutely loved it!! In October, we're going to try something new and stay at the GF, which I'm looking forward to trying. However, it was a tough decision to pull myself away from the YC. The YC is so wonderful. The view of the water and the boardwalk is so pretty, and the grounds are pretty and peaceful. I really enjoyed the stroll to Epcot. I think your twins would enjoy the pool, too. And, I think it's good to try new places:thumbsup2
