The *NEW* Grand Floridian Resort and Spa FAQ thread (Nov 2007)

Hi everyone

I just wanted to remind everyone that we are now over 150 pages. We get 250 per thread before we have to start a new one.

I have been pulling post numbers with info and adding them back to the beginning. When the thread the starts over I would just take all the really good info from the beginning and then start us over.

Once we hit the 220 mark I will probably start it and then let the mods know.

The thread name will remain the same I will just change the date. This one says Nov 2007 the new will say the month and then 2008.

If anyone has any issues or concerns please let me know.

Thanks everyone :yay:

Never, I say go for it and try the YC. Especially based on your post that you'll be spending your time at Epcot and most likely going back to the GF in Sept. (us, too!) Walking or taking the S L O WWWW boat to Epcot from the YC is so much easier than walking up/down monorail ramps at Epcot and then at TTC and switching to the resort monorail and waiting in the end of day lines. I usually do a split stay with MK resort and Epcot resort so it just makes our days so much easier and leaving the parks at closing SO much easier. :thumbsup2 No fighting crowds to leave....just a nice casual stroll back - and it's so pretty at night.

YC is my second favorite wdw resort. The rooms are large and sunny like the GF's & it has that peaceful upscale but casual feel like GF has. The BW area is kind of fun & your twins might like that in the evenings. My kids enjoy the split stays to get the best of both. April should maybe have some nice swimming days for you, too, to use SAB. :thumbsup2

Tough decision, but I say based on the info you gave in the post, you will be happy at YC.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

Never- As much as I love the GF, I would recomment YC also (never stayed there, but have been to the BC) We really like it over there but don't stay there now since the transporation to MK is horrible!! (and that is where we spent most of our time). Since MK isn't a priority this trip then absolutely stay there!

Kelly- thanks for the update on the thread. Keep up the great work!!

Hi! We are staying at the GF in March and want to see fireworks from the resort. Wishes each night is too late for our family, but on 3/14 the PPP is happening and I wondered what time those fireworks start and would we see those from the GF? Thank you so much--

Hi! We are staying at the GF in March and want to see fireworks from the resort. Wishes each night is too late for our family, but on 3/14 the PPP is happening and I wondered what time those fireworks start and would we see those from the GF? Thank you so much--

When we were there last week, the PPP fireworks went off at 9:30.
They were much better than the wishes fireworks too!

We were there when 2 parties were held during the week. We went to the one on Feb 2 and watched the fireworks from the GF for the party on Feb 5.

You got a full view of them and they were REALLY pretty. The only bad part is the fireworks for the PPP have a storyline to them. You can't hear the storyline from the GF so you miss out on a big part of the show.

The basics of the story is the start of the fireworks show the princesses are showing off... then the pirates (Capt hook) tries to take over the castle <GASP> The fireworks during this time are really red and more violent... less "pretty" ... then Peter Pan and I think Alladin (shoot my memory fails already:rotfl: ) defend the castle and defeat the pirates. When each character speaks over the loudspeaker they have their own colors combo firework display... to go along with the storyline.

When you see it from the GF they are just pretty fireworks but from within the park the show makes a lot more sense and it REALLY a lot more amazing.

Hi Everyone, I just tried to call for the 4th time to see if they had any availability so we can upgrade from the SL to the RPC but no luck.:sad2: I know that I have read on here that some of you have ordered something special and had it delivered to your room. We couldn't go this May for our 21st anniversary so we had to make it for April  due to our DS school and schedule. I wanted to have something special sent to our room the second day after we check in for my DH. He has a sweet tooth and loves white chocolate. Who would you recommend and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Never,

I also vote for the YC. Since you are going back in Sept. you could let this be your Epcot and Disney Studios trip. Like everyone else has said - the pool and activities are great their and at the BW. We love the MK resorts but when we want to spend more time at Epcot we stay over there. It is a lot easier to get to Epcot. Also, I love trying out all of the resorts. I have now stayed at them all in all categories and I definitely think you will be happy staying over there if your spending a lot of time at Epcot and the pool. I do have to throw in though that I do not like taking the bus to the MK from there at all.

CoachBagFanatic,

I'm sure there are other things that can be ordered with white chocalate but for now I can remember the Cinderela Slipper and strawberries dipped in white chocalate. I don't know if your DH would like getting a slipper but it is really pretty.

Only you girls would understand :sad1: :sad1:

Hi GF friends, I know this isnt GF related but say a little prayer for the school shooting that happened today..this university, Northern Illinois, is relatively close to us and is my husband's alma mater. We also have lots of friends whose kids go to school there. Thanks.. it really is a sad world sometimes. :sad1:

It's just horrible. I went to NIU for two years and spent several lectures periods in Cole Hall. So sad for all involved and the families. :sad1: What has this world come to?:sad2: And Grannie Minnie, you're so right....I feel scared now when my kids are out of my sight.:guilty:

OK, Praline. Is that a slam?:rolleyes1 Do I need to email somebody?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You can squeeze into my luggage any time, haha. :rotfl: Just pay the stupid $25 overweight limit fee. Seriously, though, i have luggage I cannot even use anymore because it's so large and to fill it up I'd be looking at a mega fee. Not worth it!!!! I had to buy smaller luggage.

I say YES, tell Savanah the Poly is booked up. :thumbsup2 There ya go....I have been known to pull that. It never harmed anybody.;) Once when the girls and I extended our stay(last minute) the guys left and we moved over to the Poly....it took a long time to get used to the dark rooms and the lack of GF and GF friendliness. It's pretty but VERY different in many ways. ALSO, their pools are so much smaller and always feel crowded - and the seating is super limited at the Poly pools. That's what we always found over there.

Happy day,

Lives4Disney :)
