KC Mike - Aww, so sorry to hear your kids are under the weather, and your trip is off. Doubly upsetting. I hope the kids recover quickly. My DD has been battling a back injury for several months now, sometimes it takes a while.

pas130 - So cute about your DD and the GF. Your DH is in trouble.

Jungle Cruiser - Still no power?! Do they have any idea when it will be back on in your neighborhood? I agree, you need a GF trip NOW.

catyanna - It is difficult to choose another resort, once you've fallen in love with the GF.

My road trip is off. Two of my kids came home sick. One hurt her back somehow and the other came down with a cold. So sad. Oh well I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Dh and I are debating Sept 2013 vs May 2014. We want to plan early because our last spur of the moment trip made us stay at the poly as GF didn't have the right rooms available.

I am beginning to plan my Dec. 2012 trip. Dec. 2010 was our first stay at GF and we LOVED it. When we returned from that trip I told myself the next time I go I want to stay in a theme park view room. So, it's either Contemporary or Grand Floridian. In my mind, I don't think I can give up GF so I would love to see any photos you have of theme park views?

We got power back yesterday, and are waiting for Verizon to show up today to fix our Internet, tv and phone. So lucky to have my iPad that works off a cell tower!

As long as I stay healthy, we will be on the road to the GF three weeks from today. Getting really excited!

Hello from the Grand! I am lying in a hammock on the beach. I must say that this resort has spoiled me and iDK if I could ever go back to the Poly now!

Have had a couple of minor issues, but nothing that I could say has ruined the trip. We checked in around midnight Thursday and our room in SL is wonderful! Got my request of upper floor, marina view. It is beautiful. There are 5 of us- 2 adults, 3 kids in one room and I don't feel too cramped.

The pathway to the Poly is not that bad actually. You can't see the beach from it but they have done a good job with planting palm trees and the walls are a pretty blue color. I'll post pics when I return.

I believe my worst fears have come true and I'll not be happy anywhere now but the GF. What a shame!

Need some pictures of the Sugar Loaf rooms. I realize the concierge level is main floor. Are the rooms as large in this area as they are in the main building?
We stayed in the main building 4 yrs. ago concierge and had an absolutely beautiful room and view on concierge floor so it was very convenient. If anyone has any info on a great room in in Sugar Loaf with a day bed as well as 2 Queens on the main room I would love to see them. PLEASE?????

Sorry, I forgot to take pics of our room in SL. But I will say that they seem a comparable size, maybe a bit smaller, but without the hallway configuration of the RPC rooms. The SL rooms are more like regular resort rooms, but seem almost as large as the RPC rooms.

We loved SL....so I know exactly how you feel about not wanting to stay anywhere else

I agree KCmike, there is a depth, almost surreal type quality to a black and white pictures. The color pictures of the GF makes you imagine being back in that spot, the B&W makes you think more about the picture and the composition. Does that make sense? That being said, any picture of the GF puts a smile on my face!

Latinqt. We are staying at Sugar Loaf in 3 weeks. I will take pictures of the room for you and post them if someone does do it sooner.

I'm happy you are having such a wonderful trip so far. I hope the minor snags are finished, and the rest of the trip is nothing but magic.

The standard rooms are the same in every building; same size, layout, decor. If you've seen photos of any standard room, a SL room will look just the same. The only differences are with the dormer rooms, which are a tad smaller, with a dormer ceiling and enclosed balcony.

I posted the standard room photos on the first page of this thread, and to be honest, they may be from SL! I can't remember for sure which trip we took those photos.

Nearly all the standard rooms have a daybed - some of the dormer rooms may not, but many had one added during the last renovations in 2007. Do you think you would prefer a pool view, or marina view? Both are very pretty, the marina views are quiet and relaxing.
