Hi Debbie, welcome to the GF FAQ! :grouphug:

We arrived home on the 24th from a BCV/ GF RPC trip. It was supposed to be a BCV/Polynesian LVC trip but I guess the Tiki gods didn't want us.

Happy planning! :surfweb:

Thanks! Glad I found this thread. You all will soon wish I didn't!!!!

Welcome Debbie. Just an FYI though, the GF/IPO number that Julie gave is only applicable if you are staying on the club level. Otherwise, for help with an event, just call the main number and ask for private dining. They can help you out with a nice private dinner somewhere or a cake to celebrate.

Wow! This thread is hoppin'! Hi, Debbie. I am from Chicago, too - although not really Chicago, but northern IL, hour and a half NW of Chicago. Ya, this is the best thread, LOL. :thumbsup2

RPC or Royal Palm Club is the name for the main building concierge rooms. (Where I love to be ;) ) Tammi just answered what I was going to post regarding that IPO concierge number. :)

Lynr - I did see you switched over for a Poly stay. Glad IPO over there is working for you. Wonder what is up with GF IPO. :confused3 I hope your stay at the Poly is great & I will be interested to hear if things have changed for the better since your last stay. Also interested in how you find GV at GF to be. Happy planning!!

Sorry Debbi about the number-I'm pretty new to this board.
Tammi or Lives 4,do either of you know what's up w/concierge or is it normal for them not to answer the phone or return phone messages or emails? I'm not complaining, just trying to make sure I can get DD's surprise set up.

hello channing
have you done sugar loaf ??
any thoughts or pics

Kelly, it is very nice. We had a tower room on our one stay in SL. It was the top floor, no balcony. It overlooked the lounge and was near the elevators. I don't have pics - if you do a search back several pages there is mention of a website that a Diser put together. Tammi knows!

I just really prefer the main building for that lobby atmosphere and open feel of the lounge. I just really feel spoiled when we stay in the main building. SL is just another lodge and kind of an afterthought for a concierge, I think. I don't like that the concierge staff in SL is RIGHT there sitting off the lounge. Just me.... :confused3 I feel like I am in the reference center of the library and being watched and have to be quiet, LOL. Honestly, if I do GF it would be RPC or just regular GV. SL just has marina views or GVs. The lounge is very small and closed in (IMO) no windows - I just need sunlight, I think. It seemed dark to me, but others don't agree. I know folks that work there refer to it that way, too.

Just my opinion.

Channing

Any suggestions for how to get the best view when we are there? Any tricks? We are booked for a lagoon view. Also, we are usually in Boca Chica and have loved it aside from the blocked view once (from the other room that was out further) and I personally HATE those trees!!!!! I feel guilty about that because the trees didn't do it on purpose but they block too much of the view.

Okay, I usually use the cozy term of "bed & breakfast", but I gotta laugh at the reference library comparison.

Are you kidding, I have it saved in my "favorites" folder. Here's the link to StephH's great SL site, http://www.thehawkinsfamily.org/thf/sugar_loaf.htm .

Tammi - I KNEW you would know! I need to bookmark it, too. It's great. :thumbsup2

That whole concierge desk thing RIGHT there does bug me!! It's awkward! That is another reason I didn't like the CR 14th floor. That lounge is super tight and they sit right there on top of you - like 3 feet away. OK, so what if I want that second cookie??!! I feel like I have to sneak it! :p I don't feel as free to talk, laugh, drink & eat, and relax with them on us in those certain lounges. :rolleyes1

Hi everyone! I just looked on the AP site to check my dates and see if anything new has been put into the system and the GF RPC Main Building was listed for both October and December. I don't remember seeing AP rates for RPC before! So, if you have AP's, you might want to check it out...

I tried doing a search, but it didn't give any result, so...

Does anyone know where the smoking optional rooms are located in the Grand Floridian, and which views might land you in one?

The top floor of building 9 big pine was smoking we were assigned there first and we did not want a smoking room.

Can anyone tell me what the AP rate is for December at RPC? I'm buying an AP for next year, and we're contemplating RPC for our Christmas Dec 12-19 2007 trip. I know it won't be exactly the same, but it would give me a good estimate. Thanks!

anyone have the gf emails
mine are coming back to me
and no one answers the phone there and i have not gotten a return call

Ugh. It makes me so mad that you can't ever know if you'll get non-smoking or smoking. They'll let you pay for a view, but everything else is up in the air - even something that could ruin your visit!

Thanks for the help, though. :)

I just did a seach and it came out to approx. $628 per night for the deluxe king RPC room for the second week of Dec 2006. Hope that helps.

Thanks for looking. What about a standard room? We are a family of 5 and have to have a regular room. Appreciate your checking.
