Just put in a request with IPO on what you'd like, for example ~ 4th floor, lagoon/beach view, smoking optional, 2 queen beds. Similar to making any request, I would also list what you want by priority. This will let the room assignor know which is most important to you, just in case they can't meet all of your requests.

Do you have any advice on when to make these room requests?

Do we send the requests to the same kind people who are assisting us with tours, childcare and ADRs?

Thanks!

Sometimes the CM's are not extremely knowledgable about the resorts. I have no idea what he means by the phrase "tower" :confused3 .

There are no guaranteed MK views at the GF. You would want to book a lagoon view and then request and MK view.
A "Tower" room are those rooms in the buildings (1 per floor, not including first) that are right next to the entrance, and jut out a bit. They provide a small sitting area in the room. They are thier own category, except for in Sugar Loaf where they are just first come first serve.

They all face the garden/pool area, with the exception of Sago Cay's, which face the Marina.

Thanks Tyler, I knew about the tower rooms. I was just trying to figure out in what way the CM was using the term "tower" when he/she told the caller that there were no MK views, but they could see the fireworks from the "tower" :scratchin. Other than Sago Cay, the tower rooms are all garden views and I'm not even sure you'd see the fireworks from a Sago Cay marina room.

Garada, you can make a room request at any time and yes it is with the pre-planning staff who've already been assisting you. They'll notate it on your reservation and then you can follow up a few days before you arrive.

Edited to add: By the way, I just priced out 2 vacations for June. The first is a 4 night Disney cruise and the other is 5 nights at the GF RPC. I'm thinking the 16th-21st of June, which is close to the end of the school year. The only problem is that we need to be on Cape Cod the weekend we get back for a skating competition. It may be our only option for a true family vacation this year. Got to wait a little bit longer to see what plays out, but it felt good to actually plug in some numbers and at least start planning.

Im not sure that he meant a room. I said is there anywhere the kids can see the fireworks, and he said from the tower????? I want to know if I can walk the kids to a spot at the resort where they can view magic kingdom fireworks like theu did at Polynesian last year. Does anyone know the answer to this question, the disney rep was not at all helpful unfortunately I think I got a new one haha.....not his fault.........thanks ahead of your replies:) :confused3

Hi gidge,
I am sure the other posters on here can give more detailed advice, but when we were there in September there were 2 places we watched them. One was on the lawn of the building we were staying in, Boca Chica. The other was where the boat launches...I don't know the name of the building by it (help me out experts) but there is grassy area there which was really nice :)

Hi gidge, you will be able to watch them from the marina area right in front of Gasparillas. You can get a nice patio table & chairs there and I believe they play the Wishes music. I have seen people do this from my balcony. (not sure about the music, but the view is terrific from there)

Happy planning! I don't know what the CM meant by the "tower" either - sounds like the CR tower to me. :confused3 That is the only resort tower I think of in WDW.

I've seen in other posts about the GF pool being under refurbishment or future refurbishment. Is this true? If so, does anyone know what dates the pool will be closed?

Stupid question: what's RPC? TIA.

We're looking at doing a quick (read: short) trip in early December cuz watching the Food Network and Travel Channel specials got us all pumped! I'm planning on the GF, flying (we usually drive), with a limo to pick us up at MCO. And telling the kids NADA. Of course, on the plane back we'll explain that Santa may short them a bit this year! ;)

RPC is the Royal Palm Club, that is what concierge is called in the main building at the Grand Floridian.

There is another concierge service located in Sugar Loaf, known as "SL"

That's great! I sure hope it works out and we are there together. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Looking forward to meeting you, too! We are very excited to go back at Christmas! We found December a great time to stay RPC because we really did spend a lot of time in the lounge enjoying the spirit of the season!

Someone tell me the pool will not be closed in May for repairs. I will cancel immediately if this is the case........the kids HAVE GOT to have the pool.....and at those prices they better have an extra pool in reserve hahaha :confused3

We enjoy watching fireworks from the boat dock. Many people seem to gather there. Also, you can view them from the marina area right outside of Gasparilla Grill. :)

Hopefully Tyler will see this question and let us know what the current rehab schedule is. From reading another post, it sounds like it's going on now and is not expected to last much longer. To be clear, this is the courtyard pool. The theme pool with the zero entry, slide and dancing water is still open.

The main pool is down for rehab. I can't quite remember when it will reopen, but it should be soon. The feature pool has extended its hours to compensate for now.

The Feature pool does go down for maintenance about every 6 months, to maintain the slide and all, when that does happen, guests are allowed to use the Polynesian's Volcano pool, and a boat shuttle is provided.

phew that was a close one haha. You all had me worried.......sounds like we are good to go on fireworks and pool, now if they see there way clear to upgrading us hahah that would be perfect!! :flower3:

I was so glad to hear pool problem would not ruin our stay :rotfl: I used new AP code to upgrade to SL (RPC not available for our time frame :sad1: )! :cool1: Now, I would love some imput on SL! We have stayed CL at Poly (numerous times) and AKL (once last Oct)! We would love some SL reviews! :cool1: Also, we haved stayed at GF several times, once in a Lodge Tower room and have requested one for up-coming trip. :confused3 But we know there are only a few! :scared1: So, any other suggestions for room requests? Are there any good MK views in SL? :scratchin Would love any imput! :rotfl2:

So in planning our next trip I of course turned to Marion from IASW Travel. I ordinarily don't have her do much except keep an eye on room prices for me.

I had found out about the "Wildlife Discovery Excursion" for Concierge guests a couple of months ago. Was told by IPO that you had to be a Concierge guest on the DAY you did the tour. Since this tour is only Tuesday-Saturday...no go.

So...today I am on the phone with Marion to check some other things....she said that NO you can be a Concierge guest anytime during the stay. Within 2 hours she has everything straightened out and the tour booked!

Once again....Marion has arranged PD extrodinaire! So...if you don't have Marion doing your vacation...I suggest you do! And don't believe IPO if you can't an answer you don't agree with!

Thanks Marion!

PS...Thank you Tyler for helping Marion out with this...your name was on my answering machine as the bestest!
