Over the years, my family has experienced some wonderful things while staying at the Grand Floridian Resort. Our Fairy Tale Weddings vow renewal vacation last October allowed us to experience a few of the more unique items. I finally placed some photos of those items into an on-line photo album (click here):

Fruit Bowl & Spring Water
Chocolate Grand Floridian Picture
Cookies, Milk, & Chocolates
Grand Floridian Chocolate Box
Grand Floridian Chocolates
Grand Floridian Chocolate Champagne Bottle & Flutes
Chocolate Tuxedo Strawberries
WDW Florist Floral Arrangement
WDW Florist Rose Arrangement

I need to note that I don’t know if all of those items can be ordered by a guest, but it certainly never hurts to ask either the Grand Floridian’s Private Dining or Concierge staff. They will let you know what is possible to order and how to go about doing so.

Thanks for sharing those pictures. My DH doesn't drink, so I was thinking the chocolate champagne and flutes would be a great way to celebrate our 10th anniversary! We Disneymooned at the Poly 10 years ago. Our first trip back and the kids first trip ever.

Great photos, but now I'm so hungry!

:) just want to say thank you to everyone on this board who have been such a great help. I will call CRO tomorow and request Sago Cay, marina view, and I will also try out DME. We are leaving next Friday, Sept 2nd, and will continue to monitor this board. I will probably have a few more questions  ,but just had to say THANK YOU :grouphug: , to all that have been so helpful :) . Karen

Hi all

I contacted the GF Concierge team about my split stay in December and asked whether they could help with dining reservations the entire trip or only while at the GF (were staying 13 nights Polynesian GV and 4 nights GF LCV). Barbara from the GF emailed back to say they could help with EVERYTHING !! A big thanks to Barbara - I now have my ADRs for my entire stay sorted out, my Safari trip, MVMCP and just waiting on the confirmation for CRT the night of MVCP (for our wedding anniversary).

Excellent service so Far !

I agree. The IPO staff has gotten me ALL of my ADR's already (and we're not even at 90 days yet!). They are all within 5 minutes of my requested times. Got CRT, PSB, LeCellier, Brown Derby before Fantasmic, 1900 Park Fare, 'Ohana. They've been EXCELLENT!

BTW, any other suggestions on stuff to ask them to book for our anniversary and b'day trip? Have the Family Magic Tour, MVMCP. Any other suggestions?

Colin (I love the name by the way, it's my son's name),

Anyway, glad that the IPO staff was able to come through for you. As I mentioned, there are no set in stone procedures for assisting with a split stay, I think they look at each situation individually.

CRT sounds like a very romantic spot for your anniversary dinner. Just an FYI if you didn't know it already, CRT is not open during the MVMCP. What that means is the latest dinner reservation you'll probably be able to get is 5:30 or so. I don't know if that's what you were planning on, just thought I'd mention it.

Hi Triplefigs, just curious, did they give you confirmation numbers already? I've had the IPO department show the ADR's on my itinerary, but they are listed under the "pending items" heading with the date showing when they can actually be confirmed. I wonder if this is something new?

Have you thought about a little mother/daughter time at the spa? I know my daughter loved the mini-manicure. You could have them done together. Maybe the guys can do a little mini-golfing or cruise around the lake on a pontoon boat.

Cirque du Soleil is an impressive show to see. I loved the Illuminations cruise and not having to be in the middle of that crowd was wonderful. They can bring some hot chocolate on board, maybe a special dessert. The special holiday ending that they add on to Illuminations is not to be missed. You could also look into doing an ADR at the Rose & Crown. You can request a patio table, but they're not guaranteed. Even if you sit inside for dinner, your server can direct you to the VIP where there's standing room to watch the show. With Illuminations being at 9:30 in December, I'd go with a 7:30 or 8:00pm ADR. Insider info is that if you stop by the podium during the day, you can talk to the host/hostess about patio seating. It's a little less hectic and perhaps you can arrange for something special on the table or for dessert.

Keep planning, it makes the time go by faster !!

Yes, it's supposed to be a secret :ssst: , but they are testing booking ADR's at 100 days out, not 90! I have all my confirmation numbers.

Thanks for the tips. I may ask them to book an Illuminations Cruise for us! ETA: I just emailed the IPO to ask them to try to book the Illuminations Cruise. If we get it, who do I contact for arranging food?

GF IPO should be able to make the arrangements for you. Because the cruise leaves from the YC, it would ultimately be their private dining department that actually puts it on the boat though. I think I remember you mentioning having friends come over and arranging a special dessert. Are you still planning on that? If not, you could ask the GF to send over a b-day cake, or do individual ones like a mini-castle for your DD and something a little more masculine for the guys pirate: . Little goodie bags with glo-sticks or those spinning light toys are fun too.

I may try the cake topper idea for the cruise. We have dinner ressies at LeCellier at 6:50pm that night. It's DH's b'day and our 10th anniversary. I'm taking glow sticks, etc with us, so I'll make sure to bring them with us for the cruise.

Yes, we're having 13 people at 1900 Park Fare for dinner our last night. Don't know if I'm going to do anything for that yet (getting a little pricey!).

 Hello, all! Finally ready to jump in here! I've been reading and taking notes for our December vacation. As of now we are planing to be at the GF from 12/3 - 12/8 or 9 (as in I have a reservation through 12/9 but we are doing a split stay and I may modify it by a day or so depending on how our itenerary falls in to place. I have been keeping my fingers tightly crossed for being able to bump up to SLC. I have a TA rate for our room as it is and while I can handle $ amount of increase between the rack rate for the room we have booked and SLC, I can't handle the difference between a TA rate room and a rack rate SLC room...to big of a jump! I was told to keep checking back at 30 days and less to see if they open any remaining SLC rooms to a TA rate. Unfortunately now it looks like 12/3 is totally sold out at the GF so no chance there but I would gladly split my ressie and do one night in a "regular" room and then 5 nights at SLC if that is an option later on. I've got my fingers crossed!

Anyway, we are meeting up with 3 other families there. All are women who I've gotten to know on a parenting board who will all be there the same week. The are all at different resorts but we will be doing a private dining "event" at the GF our first night. As of now we are set up for dinner out on the 3rd floor balcony but we may consider other locations that would give us a little more room. We will have 2 three year olds with us so we want somewhere with at least a perceived boundary where we can say "don't go past that hedge/railing etc." I know Janet2K had what sounds like a fabulous meal at the Summerhouse. Are there any other areas that we should consider?

Anyone have any suggestions on some special little touches for private dining? The CM I've been working with has been really fabulous and I get the impression that she really cares about making this special for us. :goodvibes Considering that one of these families is coming from Australia, this is a once in a lifetime thing for meeting them. As of now we are planning to have something special for the kids. We were going to send each of the kids a postcard from a favorite character (with the help of my cousin who lives in Orlando!) telling them that they heard the kids are coming and that they want them to have a very special dinner complete with some surprises. When the kids get to the balcony (or other location) they will find plushes of the character who sent the letter as well as a Mickey cooler that will be filled with stickers, crayons, temporary tatoos etc. One of the couples joining us will be celebrating their anniversary as well. Each family is going to get a mini-cake but only the anniversary family will get a white "wedding-ish" cake, the others will have mini-tiered cakes w/ chocolate castle or ears but the cake icing will be colored. As of now, our dinner is scheduled so that if the fireworks are early, they should be happening just after we finish dinner. If the hours go till midnight on 12/3 with 2 spectros and late fireworks (which I wouldn't be surprised of given that more than one resort is showing sold out!) then we will finish in time to head in the MK to catch the parade and shows.

I am just beyond excited about this!!!!

I've vowed to do "new stuff" this trip. We are booked on the Family Magic Tour (actually the same morning as TrippleFigs! :teeth: ). It may end up just being myself and my almost 4 year old on the tour while my DH and oldest DS go on a guided fishing excursion on Seven Seas Lagoon with some of the other "manly men" going with us. All the girls are planning on High Tea at the GF and then we have spa appointments before going to MVMCP on 12/6. We're doing the Illuminations Dinner & Desert reception Grand Gathering event and the group our agency has coordinated will be doing a Fantasmic desert reception.

We changed our FMT to Tuesday, Dec 6. Are you still doing Monday the 5th? We extended our trip by a day and are leaving on Dec 7 now.

We're still scheduled for Monday but actually may be changing as I'm mapping out our itenerary. I keep hearing MK is NUTS on Mondays so I've been toying with switching. Of course I will change my itenerary 17 times between now and when we actually go. I'll set it then they will release park hours and I'll tweak it, then they'll release the EMH schedule and I'll totally revamp it b/c they will have screwed up everything I planned. ;)

Hi Tammi

I didnt know it wasnt open so thanks for that - I actually asked for a 5pm sitting so this would be ideal :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Cheers

Denise, thanks for the update on ADR's. I had to get myself into gear! I just need to call Concierge to give them my CC#.

At open house my DD's 3rd grade teacher said, "please don't take your child out for a week to go to Disney World." It isn't against the district's policy so I'm not worried about it. This will be our last Dec. since my son will be in middle school next year. I guess I better start sending in the home baked goodies!

Since my husband :love2: has decided to join us, we moved our ressies to SL. I'm so glad that it is full concierge now. I am taking an oath not to change again. :badpc:

Ya'll have a great weekend!

Hey, will we be there together, Lori? We are there Nov 29 - Dec 7. I hope to meet you! BTW, I can't switch anymore. The GF is completely booked in all categories for my days (unless I wanted to switch rooms during my stay).

Denise

We will be there on Monday morning Dec. 5 after we leave Port Canaveral. We have a late flight out on the 9th so the lounge will be a great place to gather before we leave Friday evening.

I can't wait to meet you too! I'm sure you'll see me chasing my DS3. In fact, you'll probably meet him before you meet me. It is his personal mission in life to talk to everyone he sees. I'll keep a look out for the triplets.

Now, how can we get them to put a TV in Sugar Loaf? :rotfl:

Lori

DH loves google earth (free to download from google). It is this mapping program where you can see all sorts of stuff and users can add to the database of what objects are. Why do you care, you ask...

All the GF buildings are labeled. So it is a cool resource for those trying to figure out which building to request!

Anyone had an recent experience with the kids club recently? We will be at the GF 9/8 - 9/14 (10 days!! ) and have a ressie for Victoria & Albert's on the 10th. We have never used the Mouseketeer club and are just curious as to the experiences of others. Our DDs are 11,8,6,5. Will they each have something age appropriate to fill their time? What length of time have you left your kids here? I am hesitant about "dumping" them while on vacation anyway - but I would so love to enjoy our dinner (5:45 seating) and maybe even walk around the resort, listen to the music in the main lobby, or even just sit out on the grounds and hold hands with my hubby ( :love2: ) for a bit afterwards! Would 3 hours give us enough time? We did V&A in 2003, but for the life of me I can't remember how long we were there - did do the wine pairing, you know :drinking1

Second ? - Is coffee availale in the lobby of each building each a.m.? (We have requested Sago Cay once again). If so, can we use our own mugs or do we have to use either resrt refillables or styrofoam/plastic?

Ok y'all, I know this has been asked before and I am sorry for repeating it. However, I can not find the number for ordering special cakes from the Grand Floridian Bakery. My husband and I will be celebrating our anniversiary there soon and I would like to order a cake to celebrate. Can someone please post the number for me?

Thank you so much.

I just got back last night from the GF, and there was no beverage service in at least our building (Conch Key). HTH!

I will be posting a more complete review of the GF to my earlier thread - have to finish unpacking first, though. I'm pacing myself! :rotfl2:
