Thanks for the anniversary wishes! We have it noted on our ressie too, but not counting on anything. I do plan on grabbing a bottle of champagne from Gaspy's one night and discreetly stashing it in the room. I also ordered a gift basket from Memories by Betsy with a GF theme

giftbasket2.jpg

It has GF champagne flutes, a GF picture frame, Happy Anniversary buttons and a WDW throw blanket

While we are on the gift basket theme, here is picture of DS4's. She was able to get the big Mickey for me :cool1: Plus a monorail, Mickey car, mouse ears, lanyard coloring book and lots of other odds and ends.

ETA: This is the 6000th post in this thread!! My, we are chatty group!!!

Does anyone know if the GF is using the dreams mug or do they still have the GF ones?? We have never bought one before but I love the idea of a GF one!! :goodvibes

They were selling the Dreams mug. I did see people with GF mugs, so, I am unsure if they just switched over when we were there July 14 / 15.

I believe Kelly reported that they had moved to the standard Dreams mug, but that there were still some of the Alice and Capt. Hook mugs in the minibars (which obviously won't be there if you get a refurbished room).

Kristin - the baskets are precious. If you don't mind my asking, would you PM me the approximate costs for both? With this large family trip in December that I want to make memorable for everyone, my wheels are turning. Thanks! :goodvibes

PM sent :goodvibes They were pricey but worth it! Betsy was outstanding though!!

Bummer about the mugs... will have to venture into a gift shop and buy a "real" one then ;)

That cake is incredible :woohoo:

I AGREE!! LOVE THAT CAKE! The Brown Derby is a favorite of ours....no matter what we've ordered it's been delicious. We just tried that cake in May because before that every time I asked our server about it, they kind of squirmed and didn't recommend it. In May, DD and I bit the bullet and said we wanted it and split it and loved it.:thumbsup2

I also love the creme broulee at the French restaurant in Epcot. Very creamy w/out being too rich and filling. Mmmm.....Oh, and I can't leave out the apple struedel in Germany with the vanilla sauce....and speaking of vanilla sauce any bread pudding (NOT banana bread, though!!)

Wow! You guys are quick! I was just going to repeat what Tikaroo said and then Hockey mom got to it, too!!

Love the baskets!:goodvibes

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

Feralpeg, a DISer is doing baskets again and they are so cute! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to her website?! Does anyone know? Or you can PM me!:)

I see that her website is posted on another thread so here it is: peggyssweetsandmore.com

They are adorable! I'm going to do a Christmas one for our December trip!

With all of this talk about food, I need to chime in with a reccommendation to not miss Narcoosses. It was hands down the best meal (including desserts) we had last week and we had serveral very good meals at other restaurants. We had very good meals at the Flying Fish, Brown Derby, Kona, and Crystal Palace. The food at Narcoosses was just a step above. The food was more imaginative and just tasted fresher. I had salmon with an orange sauce that was fantastic and my husband loved his crab encrusted halibut. The desserts were also great. I had key lime creme brulee that was just right and one of my daughters had a chocolate dessert with chocolate sauce and real whipped cream that was out of this world. The cake itself was light and tasted like it had just come out of the oven. The best looking dessert though was my husband's cheese cake that came with a white chocolate strip that was printed with images of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderrella dancing with their princes. I promise to try and post a picture of this later.

Love Narcoossees! Had my 40th birthday there last year with the personalized menus! Food was great - the kids liked theirs too but I don't remember what they had! Had a table looking out on the water! Wonderful!:)

GREAT! I booked Narcoosees for the Wed before Thanksgiving.:thumbsup2 Never dined there before but you all highly recommended it, so I am going to try it. I am not a seafood fan, but Heather said the filet was delicious. :) I have a 7:30 ADR...hope to see Wishes.

Princesses, I had my 40th at Citricos! :goodvibes They did the personalized menus, too, and brought out a gorgeous creme broulet with Happy bday to me written on it all around in chocolate. GF is perfect for bdays and anniversaries!:goodvibes

I love the personalized menus! Your Creme brulee sounds delicious. This is sad- I can't remember what they brought out to me! I think DH ordered a cake! I need to go look at my pictures - thats sad that I can't remember!
Would you recommend Citricos? We have never been there! We did my b-day this year at Cali grill but Citricos was our next choice! :)

Citricos was really nice and the food was scrumptious for my 40th. Service was just the best & the restaurant was low key and peaceful. We had this very attentive and friendly waiter & that really added to how we felt about the experience. Also, they had my absolute favorite white wine that you just don't usually find - they also had it at Artist Point that trip. We all enjoyed Citricos so much last July that it was where I booked us to eat on Xmas Eve. Totally different experience. Turned me off of the place, actually. I don't know what to think of it at this point. Maybe it was just Xmas crowd, but the food was not so wonderful, the service was weak, the noise level was extreme. And when I asked about my wine because I didn't see it on the menu, the server acted like it he hadn't heard of it, then said it hadn't been on the menu for years and I was an idiot for asking. Not such a great time. Maybe somebody has a more current review than Christmas 2006, but I am not in a hurry to repeat Citricos.

Here's a pic of the dessert. That 40th bday trip blew all other trips away it was so fantastic.

With all this talk about restaurants I have to say that I am sad that the 1900 Park Fare will not be properly open for my trip :(.....I was hoping to go there. oh well there is always next time. Anyway, anyone have any tips on how to get ADR's on Le Cellier Steakhouse in Epcot....I tried today...and every lunch and dinner is already booked for my entire trip...do they allow walk ins or is the entire restaurant reserved for people with ADRs?? Also anyone know anything about the Hoop Dee Doo Revue?? We are going to that and want to know how it is?

I have to say that one of my favorite things to eat at GF is the scones with marmalade and clotted cream that is served in the RPC lounge at teatime.

I loved them!! In fact, I think that was one of the reasons CR Atrium Club was disappointing to me last year. (No scones!--even though I knew not to expect them there)

Maybe I'm strange, but that was one of my favorite experiences when we went Dec. 2005. I'm so looking forward to them!

Keep trying, but Le Cellier is super popular and books up fast. I had my bday dinner there last year and it was outstanding!! They decorated the table with maple leaves and brought me a crown- I felt like such a princess!!

We went to HDDR last year. The food is horrible (except the strawberry shortcake) but the show is hilarious (very slap stick) Normally I am not into that type of humor, but it was laugh out loud funny. DS4 had me pull out our trip DVD last night and some of HDDR was on there- I was still laughing 8 months later!!

The only meal we booked at the GF this time was the Cindy dinner at the GFC cafe. I must admit, though, I am extremely sad that the GFC won't have there normal menu. I absolutely love that place for breakfast!! We skipped the Alice breakfast this year and will go again next year once 1900 is re-opened. I won't go back to Narcoosees as I got a horrible stomach bug on my honeymoon after eating there :sad2: (not very romantic) I had to live on chicken soup and jello for the next day or so to get my system back to normal...

While we are speaking desserts, I am super excited to try the chocolate wave at Coral Reef. I can't believe in all our trips that we have never eaten there. :confused3 There is also a No Way Jose over at Beaches N Cream with my name on it! :thumbsup2

I've just spent a ridiculous amount of time reading this thread from February on -- we just switched our Poly stay to a Grand Floridian stay, and compulsive over-planner that I am, I had to play catch up!

A few questions about the cabanas:

I see there are two lounge teak cushioned lounge chairs and then it looks like a table and two regular chairs, and then a cabinet thing with a mini fridge and tv. The fridge has sodas, water and juice boxes. Have I missed anything and do you pay extra for the sodas and such (a sort of poolside mini bar?) or are they included in the cabana rental fee?

Can you get lunch delivered to the cabana? And would that be set up with private dining? Drinks I'm sure we could get from the poolside bar.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jennifer

Rental Cabana amenities include:
. Two padded chaise lounge chairs
. Two padded straight-backed chairs
. Plush towels
. 22 inch LCD television with cable access and optional earphones
. Sirius Satellite Radio
. DVD/CD/MP3 player
. Phone for internal resorts calls
. Oscillating Fan
. Mini refrigerator stocked with complementary sodas and water
. Complementary fruit basket
. Private dining and poolside massages are available at an
additional cost. See Special section below for additional information.

The fridge & contents are included in your rental fee. There is a room service/private dining menu on the table and you can order lunch or you can pick up burgers etc from the pool bar.

Have fun! I have stayed at the Poly several times and the Grand many more...you made the right choice. :thumbsup2

Cinderumbrella....OMG...the dreaded stomach bug from Narcoosees??? How awful! You probably saw I am trying that place for the first time in Nov.:rotfl: Bad news! I'd never eat there again, either....DH got food poisoning from Nesquick he bought at the MS Bakery late one nt.....we've never stepped into that place since.:rolleyes1 It took me a while to go back to Rose and Crown after a kid next to us tossed her cookies all over the ground and they came with the school disinfectant stuff and sawdust to scoop it up with. ICK. The kicker was the family stayed!!! They couldn't miss Illuminations.:sad2: Just put the sick kid on mom's lap and ordered more beer.:rotfl: That totally grossed me out and I was sooo worried for almost the rest of my trip that my girls would catch the stomach bug sitting almost right next to that sick girl.

I LOVE the No Way Jose sunday!! Also, a few trips ago we had that choc wave at Coral Reef. Yum & pretty.

I enjoy those scones and apricot marmalade too!! Now I am seeing very clearly why I gain about 5 lbs every Disney trip.:rotfl2:
