... I wanted to say HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY! I had my 40th bday at the GF in July and I can honestly say it was the BEST birthday I have ever had.

Happy Birthday from me, too. I just celebrated my 39th there on October 29th.

Phyllis, happy b'day. My DS is a major monorail fanatic. We both love the pic in your signature!

Hi Phyllis: Let me start by saying " Happy 40th Birthday to You" We will be arriving at GF Jan 12 to celebrate my 40th during that week. I hope you have a great birthday and your DH is right that WDW is the best place to celebrate! I told my Dfamily that I didn't want a party or any presents just a vacation in WDW. Have a great time!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

hi, has anyone stayed (or have knowledge of) recently in a deluxe consierge room in the main bldg? i've stayed on the fourth floor with a magic kingdom view, but i was wondering what the view was like on the other side of the hotel (maybe of the poly?). i'm pretty sure deluxe rooms are on that side. also, is there a day bed/pull out couch? anyone? thanks in advance, francie

Hi, I know that there is one deluxe room right off the lounge (right past the kids' area). It has a courtyard view & that nice convenient location going for it. I am not sure where the other deluxe rooms are, though. :confused3 If you stay on the other side of the main building, you may have a nice view of the waterfall pool and the wedding chapel and Poly and a fairly close up view of the monorail.

Happy planning,

Stayed in a deluxe concierge in Sept. It was on the 3rd floor- on the side away from the concierge desk. The view was very nice. We had a great view of the wedding chapel, beach area, Poly and a little of the waterfall pool. It was a nice view. The room was huge - it did have a couch but we didn't check to see if it was a pull out because we did not need it for that.

Have fun

Well, thanks so much to all of you for the birthday wishes - it seems that WDW (and the GF) are the place to be for a special birthday! Happy birthday to all of you who have just celebrated or will soon be celebrating your birthdays in the happiest place on earth!

BCV23, thanks for the Conch Key info - it's our favorite building, even though we've only stayed GV there in the past. Since it's supposedly a slower time in early December, we'll hopefully have our request granted. I'm not even asking for a castle view specifically - we just love the location of Conch Key and as it was the first building we ever stayed in on our first trip with DD, it's a sentimental favorite.

Thanks also for the compliments on my sig photo - I'm really proud of it!

I will be staying in the RPC at the GF for the first time this January!

My parent will also be staying in the GF, but not in the RPC. Can they come to our room, check out the RPC, etc? Can they grab a drink and snacks and sit with us? Obviously, they didnt pay, but we will get less use out of it if they can't spend time with us there.

Maybe we should stay in a regular room like they are to avoid getting in trouble?

I had this same problem in August, friends of mine were in a regular room and we were in RPC so I felt bad using RPC services when they couldn't so we only took advantage of the snacks and beverages at night when they had gone back to their room.

In my opinion you probably should ask concierge staff if it would be ok for them to use it. When we stayed at the Grand California Hotel in Disneyland the concierge staff actually said our other family members traveling with us could use their amenities.

New to the GF thread. Can anyone tell me (who has very recently been) if the gingerbread house is currently being put up? When is it usually completed? I am traveling to WDW over Thanksgiving and would like to make a special visit to the GF to see it.

Thanks in advance!

Hello! Just returned from 8 nights at the RPC at the GF. The gingerbread house should be finished by now - the signs said it would be "open" on Monday. It looks beautiful!

Phyllis, I really, really hope you get your Conch Key request. Have you noticed over the years getting the same building as before? I have at the Polynesian and think it adds to the memories.

How many are staying in your RPC room? Maximum occupancy is 5. If you are below that, you may be able to add your parents to your room reservation as well. It will cost you an additional $25 per night, per add'l adult, but they will have their own key and be "legal" so to speak. Otherwise, you can certainly all meet downstairs in the lobby and enjoy a drink from Mizners while listening to the orchestra.

Thanks so much! We'll certainly make a stop over to the GF to see it!

We've always gotten our Conch Key request, except for this past May, which was the first time we ever splurged for LV - they put us in Big Pine Key with a lovely view of the Poly and wedding pavilion, but the view wasn't worth the extra $500, IMHO. All our other stays were off-peak, though, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Tammi, that is a great idea... unfortunately they are in a king bed room... I dont think the max occupancy is 5 for that.

good thinking though... maybe at check in I can ask if we can pay that anyway (we wouldnt sleep in the room under either scenario, we have our own).

It doesn't really matter which room they have, as it's your room that is on the RPC level right? And actually, they could have requested a king bed, but it's not a guarantee (only if they have a honeymoon suite booked). They may end up with a 2 queen room. But, it's your room on the club level that matters. If you aren't over your occupancy limit of 5, then that should be do-able. Just ask the club level staff, they should be able to let you know.
