Can anyone tell me if you can request a microwave at the GF? or is there one already there. Thanks for any information!

I

Johnsonet - LOVE your pics. :goodvibes The new room decor is growing on me a tiny bit. Your room and views were spectacular. Was it the coveted 4421? Or the 4321?? Too funny....now you are addicted. That's the only shame of staying in the main building. I am dying/itching to upgrade for Thanksgiving. DH would pulverize me.:rotfl: Maybe I will leave it GV & there's some magic in my future haha! I can dream.:rolleyes1

Happy planning!!!!

Lives4Disney :)

Ugh, I need to quit looking at this thread. The more I look, the more I, too, am like, hmm... how can I make this work? When me and my Dad go in Oct there will be no upgrading to concierge (Dad thinks it's "fussy", and is more interested in food on this trip), but me and BF have a land/sea package for December, 2008 booked now, and I keep thinking about how to get out of the Poly and into the GF. I know we would have to book each leg seperate and then if we did that, maybe we should just go ahead and do RPC again since we both loved it so much, but the price difference is astronomical :rolleyes1 . Those turret rooms are SO beautiful though... Well, andway I have another year and then some to scheme.

Twingle, make sure to take lots of pictures. Maybe I can casually show all of these honeymoon room pics to BF and give him a year tpo think about it and he will go for it
:confused3

Hi, I just booked GF for Nov. 24 - Dec. 1 garden view room. Can anyone suggest a specific area I should try to ask for and why? I have a six yr. old daughter if that helps any. I'm soooo excited to be staying at GF. This is also our first trip to Disney. Thanks.

2excited4words - Congratulations! I have stayed in many a GV room at the GF and have always been happy. I used to request Boca Chica, which is one of the 5 lodge buildings at the GF. The GV rooms of that bldg. mostly have views of the "quiet" pool, although I've twice been in rooms on the side of Boca Chica which overlooked the sidewalk to the boat dock and Narcoossee's.

ANYWAY, I personally would leave your reservation as is. Every room at the GF is gorgeous and everything is pretty close to everything. However, if being close to the Main Bldg. and waterfall pool is important to you, I would request Big Pine Key.

Good luck and enjoy:wizard:

Yes, RPC is so fabulous that it's hard to give up! But I love the Poly and would stay there in a heartbeat. Also, any stay at the GF is a great one :thumbsup2
The turret rooms are luck of the draw, although I certainly had luck with requesting one and getting one :wizard:
Good luck with your plans.

Does anyone know if the new rooms will have the bigger safes like at the Poly?

Only 8 weeks until our stay! We've booked a deluxe RPC and are hoping they have all been refurbed by then.

OK, I called Private Dining this AM and spoke with Chantel. First I was surprised that I got a live person, 2nd I was even more surprised at how lovely she was!!! I ordered 10 tuxedo strawberries to be sent to the room. I mentioned it was an anniversary surprise for DH and she congratulated me and asked how many years. She said she would be sure to include a Happy 10th Anniversary card with the order.

I decided against ordering the Mickey cake because 1) still a little afraid after Channing's cake debaucle but mostly because 2) DH is on board with a SURPRISE trip next June to celebrate DS's 5th bday :woohoo: We are already going next December so I just about fainted when he agreed that he rather go to WDW than Wisconsin Dells for his birthday. (He never wants to go twice in one year :confused3) So, I will wait and do the Mickey cake for the birthday.

10 more days!!!!! Can't wait!!

The renovated rooms do have the bigger safes like the ones at the Poly and digital :thumbsup2

If you don't mind me asking, how do you go about ordering the tuxedo strawberries to your room?? Also are they pricey? Thanks, we too will be celebrating our anniversary when we are there (7 years together and 1 year married) and I think that would be a nice surprise for DH.

Hi! I currently have ressies booked for both narcoossee's and citricos for the same night at the same time and i need help deciding which one to go to! I have been to citrico's before and I LOVE it, but I read the narcoossee's menu on allears and the idea of getting a lobster for the price of the meal plan is very tempting. There is no way i can do both because they are both 2 meal exchanges and i'm on the meal plan so that would waste almost all my meals
! So which should i choose?!?!?!

I preferred the atmosphere at Citrico's - comfortable, warm, nice lighting... although we had a wonderful server at Narcoossee's and DELICIOUS food! I also preferred their wine list. Hey, I guess I've changed my own mind! Go for Narcoossee's - especially if you want the lobster and especially since you've never been :thumbsup2

Yay! I need to call Private Dining, too, to begin getting some ideas for Nov/Dec. Maybe I'll call today and see if I can catch Chantel! :thumbsup2

Congrats on a 2nd trip in '08! Are you guys considering resorts at this stage? I love that part of the planning! :thumbsup2

I've eaten at both, and much preferred my meal at Narcoossee's, although don't get me wrong - Citrico's was good, too. We're going back to Narcoossee's though, this Dec. :cloud9:

FYI - I believe lobster entrees are an extra charge on the DDP. You might want to check the fine print, but I believe that was the rule, last time I checked. Not sure what the additional cost might be, though. Good luck! :wizard:

Also, just an FYI....

My TA checked on AP rates for my Nov/Dec RPC Honeymoon Room stay. As I suspected would happen, my AAA rate was a much better value than the AP rate - by over $100 for my 3 nights!

So, lesson of the day, if you're staying at the GF (particularly in the higher category rooms), you'd be wise to reserve a room early with the AAA discount!

I was on the AP site earlier and there is nothing very little at the GF with the passholder discount and nothing concierge for the dates I was looking for.

They are $5 each plus gratutity, tax and delivery. Mine came to $65 and change for 10 of them delivered.

I don't know how I am going to manage (:rotfl: ) but we will probably do Pop for the June trip since we are going for just 5 days and are using the resort to crash only.
For December it is a toss up between WL and CR. DH wants WL and I want to be back on the monorail- I told him it was the least he could do after making me pick Pop in June!!!!! :rotfl: (I am such a princess:  )

Ok Lives4Dinsey...You asked for it!! Here come some of my questions!! :rotfl:

I see you have children. Do you think my 5 and 3 year old will enjoy it there? I know they loved the BW, because they liked going to BC to play on the beach. My three year old proclaimed to me she will ride the monorail and go "weeeee". lol

I requested a MK view, but should I have been more specfic and asked for a castle view?

How is the club level food?

Did you do the Animal Kingdom Excursion? We signed up for it and we think the kids will like seeing the animals in such a personal way.

TIA and I am sure as time goes on I will have more questions.

What is the Animal Kingdom Excursion? Is it only offered to concierge level guest? My daughter would love an excursion!:)

You call the GF private dining at 407-824-2474. I believe they only need a couple days notice, but I'd call a week or so ahead of time. The strawberries are delicious and you can have them on a platter with a white choc character, too, if you want. I did a white choc Goofy and a mix of the strawberries and truffles. (the truffles are pretty yummy!) They have other characters available & can fill you in if you're interested. They also can do strawberry brides in white chocolate - I forgot about that - we had those once....the tuxes are milk w/a touch of white, the little pearly brides are all white and cute. Have fun planning. :)

, ya, I have been out all day and just saw AP rates were released. Lots of complaints regarding the "deals" and availablity seems VERY limited in deluxes. I tried the AP website earlier and it was down. Somebody mentioned maybe Disney was raising rates/being stingy on the discounts so they'd have more money to fix their stupid website.:rotfl: I wish they would.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

I believe it is offered to GF Concierge Level and AKL Concierge Level. I could be worng. It cost $45.00 a person and you get a private tour of the Kilimanjaro Safari.

The Wildlife Discovery Excursion is for Concierge Guests of any Disney (Deluxe) Resort. It takes place at AK Park.
The Wanyama Safari is the private safari for AKL Concierge guests only and is on the grounds of AKL.
