Katy: Make sure your ressie # is on the mailing label & then call Y&B Club the week b4 & let them know a package may be arriving for you that needs to be transferred to Contemporary. Let them know you have switched resorts & are worried the package won't get to you. See what they say...

i really like this idea!!! i think it is better than the others we have come up with!! i would try this one. just call them and i am sure things will work out!!

That sounds like a good idea.

I LOVE THIS IDEA!!! I don't know why I didn't think of this!!! This is what we will do!!! Thanks, nemofans!!! :goodvibes

I second this. You'll need to talk to the Yacht Club. I'm sure the package will not end up at the CR if you don't.

Thanks to the rest of you for hanging in there with me and coming up with ideas...I'll make sure to let you know how it works out! Thanks again!!

I am hoping to get one night at the Contemporary for April 2009 (before we switch over to our DVC accommodations). I hope to get a AAA discount, but I don't think they're out yet. Should I just call and book my room now anyway? Also, do they require a deposit or what? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but we've had DVC now for several years and I can't remember what it's like to make a regular room reservation!! Thank you!

I would call for a reservation now and when the 2009 rates are released, they will adjust your rate. Also when making a room only reservation it requires a 1 night deposit which can be paid off right away when you make the reservation, or be paid off monthly or something. When my family and I make a room only reservation we pay the whole thing over the phone so it's one less thing to worry about.

Just wanted to post. We spent the first four nights of our trip at the Contemporary in a Garden suite and loved it earlier this month. The beds
are the most comfortable and the boys loved having the internet. We never
unpacked the computers that we brought. We had breakfast on our last day at the Wave and it was wonderful. We also went parasailing and took out the "mice boats". What fun!! Loved the CR!!

Thanks for your review and it's great you enjoyed the Contemporary. :thumbsup2

Katy: I'm glad my suggestion helped! I have sent a package to WDW b4 & I usually call & give them a heads up anyway that it's coming. That way it's marked on my ressie. So, I figured you could call & try to get it straightened out w/o giving away the surprise.

All,
I am trying to upgrade my room for our stay. Currently we have a garden wing room booked from 12/6-12/14. Sunday 12/7, Monday 12/8 and Tuesday 12/9 are the days that I cannot get into the tower. All other nights have rooms available in the Tower. Does anybody know why a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday area full??? I would understand Friday, Saturday, Sunday being full, but not this combination. I can only surmize that this is a convention of some sort, but I cannot figure out what. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Peter
:confused3

Try booking it from the week before including the days you want.Like from the 1st through the 14th and see if anything opens up. Then you can go back and cancel what you don't want. You never know...it may work~

I just tried tried putting in a room only reservation on the Disney World website from 1st - 14th of December and the Contemporary is 100% sold out for those dates. I would agree that this might be due to a convention why pbkahn can't upgrade his reservation. I would say to keep trying to see when a Tower room would become available, however at least you have the Garden Wing reservation so things could be worse.

OK so I've made it 72 hours with my secret...only 90+ days to go.

I've been reading a lot of posts where people seem to be having trouble booking tower view rooms and it got me wondering (ok...worrying) why it was so easy for me to book one. When I first decided I wanted to put together this surprise for my DH, I called Disney direct and the CM told me that, for the night I wanted to add, and I quote "There are no rooms available anywhere across property." Felt like he hurried me off the phone, but that's another story :rolleyes1

As soon as I got off the phone, I checked Disney website and there WAS availability, and I could've booked the room online. I ended up booking through AAA for the discount. Is this common that there would be a discrepancy between the phone line and the website, or did I just get a bad apple on the phone?

I'm for the bad apple. Why would WDW run free dining in September (which is 90 days from today, isn't it) if it had "no rooms available."

If you are worried, call AAA to confirm. It won't help to call the CR direct as they don't get the reservation until a week or two out.

Sometimes there might be different listings on the website comapred to when you cal CRO. I would say you might have had a bad apple on the phone, however as long as things worked out for you that should be the most important.

I'm for the bad apple.

That was my first thought, too. But I am a worrywart by nature, so I just assume something is wrong...:)

I do have an email confirmation from AAA, so I am sure everything will work out. I have never had a problem with their travel services before.

Not sure what was up with the guy I spoke with, as soon as he told me there were no rooms, I hesitated for a second and said, "ummm...ok..." and got ready to ask another question, and he just said "have a great day" and hung up.:confused3 Didn't ask me if I needed help with anything else, etc.

It's no big deal, I ended up getting what I wanted anyway, but have always had great experiences calling CS. One bad apple does not spoil the bunch.

That is the best way to look at everything.

Oh you are totally right, I am not trying to make a big deal over what happened. More curious as to why there would be a difference calling vs. the website. Trust me, I got my tower view...I am a happy girl.:woohoo:

Most of the time that is not the case. For example in February 2007 when we were making our reservations for December 2007 on the WDW website it listed no rooms for the Atrium Club Level and when my Dad called CRO they also said it was sold out.

That makes sense...thanks for the replies. My biggest problem now is, I know we will both fall in love with the CR and will want to go back every year! Last time I stayed there was in 1981 when I was 3, so I am so excited to be going back.:cool1:
