krbq,
In those pictures with the Contemporary being in the far distance where you can see the Tower and the new building being built in the backround, where did you take them from? I want to guess somewhere along the beach between the Polynesian and Grand Floridian, or am I wrong about that?

If you mean the shot in post #819, I took that from Sunset Point at the Polynesian. I didn't get over on the beach between the Poly and the GF, but it's about the same perspective, just farther away.

Assuming the information told to krbq is true that Chef Mickey's Express will have a roof over it to block out the noise for guests staying in the Tower, isn't it kind of weird they now close the arcade at 11:30 PM? I know one Cast Member told me they did not so there would be no children running around the 4th floor late at night making noise which makes sense, however since they now have doors to enter why couldn't it stay open for 24 hours like when it was located in the Food & Fun Center? Since my family and I have stayed at the Contemporary when the arcade moved to the 4th floor, we did not hear any noises from there because they have the doors which block out the noise. So what are your thoughts?

DH gets up very early in the morning (like 4 or 5 am) and in his wanderings around the CR he said he never saw the Arcade closed. He said the doors were always open, even though no one was inside. I don't recall seeing the doors closed when we were on the Concourse late at night either (although I wasn't looking for it). My guess is that it's probably open 24 hours now. It wouldn't make sense that they would close at 11:30 and then re-open at 5 am. Just a guess, though, because we didn't ask anyone about it.

Maybe they were using the same policy that was used when it was located in the Food & Fun Center. At 11:30 PM the Cast Member working at the prize table would be leaving so you could not get anything until the nexy day, however you could still play the games. I guess what confused me is that I never saw that said anywhere like in the old location. Anyway thanks for that information.

no car. stranded in the world of Coke! we might get a taxi to go eat somewhere out of the World, so i might be able to get some then! What's the taxi situation, easily available? expensive? I need a Pepsi so bad it doesn't even matter.:)

My family and I have never used at taxi in WDW so I don't know about the costs, however from what I have read bell services should be able to get you one without any problems.

Take a taxi to goodings at the crossroads. I think our taxi from WL was $12 plus tip.

Does anyone know if there is any rumor of when sales at the DVC Tower will begin? I know AKL started early and we are kind of interested in the Contemporary DVC site. Thanks.

I think I read on the DVC boards they might announce them on July 1st, although who knows when that will happen.

There should be taxis waiting across from Bell Services. If not, one will be along soon. We took one last week from CR to Epcot. The cost was about $15 plus tip. The theme parks also have taxis waiting near the bus stops. From Epcot to the CR it cost us about $13 plus tip. We find we've been using them more often when we're really tired, hot, or when crowds are heavy.

NEW! The Wave Restaurant at Disney's Contemporary Resort is now accepting reservations for dinner on June 7 and all meals June 8 and beyond. This new restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will honor the same DVC, Passholder and Disney Dining Experience discounts which are in effect at the Concourse Steakhouse. One entitlement will be needed as part of the Disney Dining Plan

A few more shots of the construction on the new tower:

DH believes the yellow area is an elevator shaft and the area with the wooden rails will be windows, if the artist's conception that's been posted on the internet (and on this thread several pages back) is correct.

For reference, the close-ups above were taken of just to the right of the center of the new tower:

Some shots of the "newest" floor of the new tower and the columns being placed for the next one. Should be some great views from up there.

A look at the glaziers' work -- balconies, maybe?

Well, before I get this thread shut down for reaching the maximum pages too soon, I should probably start posting some of my pictures on the "Photo Only" thread. See you there!
