not sure if I follow you. If available > and you call are you saying they just don't show up? Or, is it that when you call, they tell you we don't do that unless your concerige? I have done it at the Poly in all room types with no problem. Have done it at CR in tower, but never in wing. I know housekeeping has been an issue at CR or at least when I have been there. Is that the problem?

thanks, mky
If your not staying Club Level and still want turn down service it needs to be requested through housekeeping, so since it's only a request there is a chance it might not happen.

Sorry, didn't find this thru search,

Does anyone know if you can have turn down service, if not staying in suites or concerige? Tower or garden?

Bummer, about the pool. Hope they get working so done on time. Anyone got pictures of pool work?

Thanks, mky

I was not on the Club Level, but I called and requested it for each night of my stay, and got it. I even told them to come after 7:30 each night so I knew I'd be gone when they arrived. Just call Housekeeping when you arrive.

That's not true. Turn down service is a perk offered to ALL Deluxe level resort guests, regardless of concierge or not. It is simply *automatic* at the Concierge level, and not automatic for everyone else in the deluxe resorts. IF you want it, all you have to do is let housekeeping know at the beginning of your stay, and you WILL get it for the duration of your stay.

It is not a "maybe you will, maybe you won't" type of thing. They just don't automatically do it for everyone, because not everyone WANTS it, and since WDW has so many families with kids, and some go to bed early, etc. they do not do it unless it is requested.

Most people who stay in Deluxe resorts simply don't know that turndown service is offered to them, but it is.

Actually the only Deluxe Resort where it's offered to all their guests and not just the Club Level guests is at the Grand Floridian. At all the other Deluxe Resorts the none Club Level guests need to request it.

I would love to see how the pool is coming along. I know it's probably silly for me to be a bit panicked about it since it's only late Jan and we won't be there until mid April, but I'm sooo afraid we'll be there without a pool. My husband will OF COURSE take it out on me for insisting that we stay at The Contemporary...so please...prayers that it will be complete and will be one heckuva divine pool.
Or at least just complete.

Does anyone know what they are doing to the pools? Are they just being refurbished/marble dusted/resurfaced or are they doing something different with them? We were there in August and the pools were the one thing I'd change about that resort. They just seemed dated.

From another thread on the main board if you did not see it regarding CR pool:

The main pool has been open the entire time. (arrived Saturday, staying til Saturday)

The quieter pool out by the marina is closed but I don't see any work going on. There is a construction fence up though. The cabanas are up by the quieter pool and they are lovely.

From what I've read, here's what the pool refurb entails:
1) the pool area is supposed to resurfaced,
2) they're going to add some type of fountain/splash play area for kids
3) they're going to add cabanas that guests can rent.

I also heard they were supposed to get some new foliage for the pool area (one thing I read mentioned palm trees), but I read that rumor awhile back and everything I've seen since then does not mention any new foliage.

Hope that helps. And yes, I also hope they meet the refurb schedule they originally gave....

Thank you. That does help. :)

On Monday night I texted my friend who workks as a baker for the Contemporary and he did not see anything much in terms of construction happening by the pool.

Sounds great! But, I don't think all of that construction would be complete by April :scared:
I really do hope all pool construction is complete by April :confused3
To travel to the Poly pool via monorail with three (3) children, strollers, bags, pool toys, then back on cold monorail after being in the pool (kids always complain about the monorail being cold) etc.....is not my idea of relaxation by the pool on vacation. The pool is a must do every day (weather permitting)on our vacations and pool hoping is not convenient for our family right now :sad2: Lets hope it all works out pixiedust:

My guess is once they are renovating the main pool the quiet pool will be renovared, because I heard that will be another option if you don't want to swim at the Polynesian.

So if the main pool at CR is closed, we can use the pool at the Poly? What about other resorts. I thought I read on at least one resorts website (I can't remember which one) that the pool area was for registered guests only.

It wouldn't be my first choice to travel to another resort, but it would be preferable to having no main pool with slide for children.

The only time your allowed to pool hopp is when the pool at your Resort is closed for renovations, so in this case it's only at the Polynesian and no other Resorts.

Nope, also the Wilderness Lodge. I will be staying at the Contemporary in March and was told by two different CM's at Central Reservations (they were reading off a computer screen) that "Guests at the Contemporary will be welcome to use the pools at either the Polynesian Resort of Wilderness Lodge for the duration of the Contemporary feature pool renovations."

I guess they decided to add the Wilderness Lodge since the Polynesian volcano pool is not that big. Oh well at least it gives the Contemporary guests another option and both resorts are easy to get to, since one is on the Monorail line and the other one all you take is the blue flag boat to arrive.

I think it will be nice to hop around the resorts, it will give me a chance to check out the Poly and WL. I don't think I would have ever ventured over to either one otherwise. My husband wants to stay at the Poly eventually (where I, even though I have no personal experience of any of the DW resorts yet, believes I'd rather stay a Contemporary girl) and the pool situation will be one way of getting me over there to check things out. He's already been using Dole Whips to get me over there, lol. And too he wants to do the Spirit of Aloha.

Which reminds me, I really need to get around to booking reservations.

So much to do...so little time!:laundy:

As I'm about to head off to the Contemporary in just a few weeks, I've been wondering about this pool thing. How exactly are they aware that somebody is pool hopping?
