Just booked Coronado Springs for early December! We've been there before and loved it so much. It's definately our favorite of the moderate resorts. My only concern is that the southwest theme (which we love) wouldn't feel very "Christmassy". Does anybody know where we can find any pictures of CSR decked out for the holidays?

need help in picking room location, can't decide, confusing to say the least. we booked a water view room. we have a car, so we don't need to be near the bus stops. we don't want to be too far from pepper market or the dig, but don't to hear all the noise either. we don't want ground level. was looking at cabanas, but they don't look to hot from the pictures i have seen. was looking at casita 5, but then that seems far from the dig. some of the rancho pics look nice, but others don't. i would have to say the casitas look the nicest in the pics. are the casitas part of the main building/convention area? i know i have a lot of questions...i apoligize.

your help is appreciated!

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge. Most preferred location. Your best bet!

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. Some rooms within steps of the Dig Site.

Cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above. cabana 9a has a quiet pool. cabana 9a also has smoking optional rooms so make sure you are clear as to what you will accept.

Cabana rooms are mostly waterview rooms or non parking lot views.

Rancho 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a. rancho 6b is also fairly close to the main pool area.

Casita 4 is close to the gym, spa and has quiet pool. The casitas have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

are you saying there are no water view rooms in the casita section, just the cabana rooms?
is it me or does cabana 9 look like nothing special compared to the casitas?
casita 4 lakeview looks nice, what is that near?
gee....this is harder that picking restaurants.

thanks again!

not at all. our first stay at CSR was a great waterview room in casita 5. we had a view of the fountain and the lake. but fountain views count as waterview.

the casitas are nicer with the fountains and courtyards.

the quiet pool, the laundry, the gym, and spa are all located in casita 4 and bus stop #2 is close to casita 4.

thanks again mario. i am going to request casita 4 lakeview, just have to decide on a 2nd choice to be safe. i hope casita 4 isn't too far from pepper market.

It is approx a 1/4 mile walk to the Pepper Market. Back up could be Casita 3, it is closer to the main building. Some nice views there as well.

Walking Distances
From El Centro moving clockwise around the lake path to:
Casitas 3 = .16 miles
Casitas 4 = .24 miles
Casitas 5 = .27 miles
Ranchos = .46 miles

From El Centro to the Dig Site, via the bridge near the Cabanas
= .35 miles

From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles

I'll be doing a split stay (POFQ and CSR) Dec 9th-18th taking my 73 y/o mom for her first trip to WDW. I'll be renting an ECV for her to get around.

I know requests are just that: requests and aren't guaranteed, but are they pretty good about honoring requests for certain areas? I think I would like to be in Casitias 3 (or at least somewhere in the Casitas). I don't particularly care for the look of the Cabanas and have a feeling that if they put us way out in the Ranchos that I may be squealing to be moved back to POFQ. I booked the rooms using the AP Best Rate Program and wonder how it would work if we were really unhappy with our location at CSR. I am really pretty easy to please, but if they put us way out in the Ranchos or even out in Casitas 5, I will probably be doing some begging for another room or even another resort. I would prefer the Casitas, but think we would be alright out in the Cabanas. Ranchos--NO WAY!

I would think in Dec you should be able to get casita 3. Some great fountains and courtyards in that area.

Leaving in 3 days for 8 days at CSR. In case I don't get a chance before then, just wanted to thank everyone, especially Buzz, for all your help in making the planning for this trip easy and fun. :worship:

Another topic for Buzz!

I know at the Deluxes you can order specialty desserts like tuxedo strawberries,Cinderella's slipper etc. I was wondering since Coronado has a partial room service menu and they cater to Conventions can a guest order such desserts from Coronado?
Thanks for any help!
I found my menu! You can order chocolate covered strawberries, cookies & cream, int'l fruit & cheese basket and a refillable mug with assorted candy.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide on a moderate resort for our early Dec vacation. POR is booked :guilty:

Can someone tell which is best: French Quarter, Coronado or Carribean?

I stayed at Carribean in 1999 and wasn't impressed...my worst stay at Disney for sure. But it's been almost 6 years.

Thanks for your advice!

We have reservation for Sept. 23-Oct. 2 and after reading everything on this thread and visiting Buzz's and Epcotfans website it looks like this is the best moderate out there... We've stayed at Carribean in '99 also and we weren't that impressed either... i thought Pop was just as good. Anyway, i didn't answer your questions(s) but i look forward to other responses and check out those websites.

We would like to be near the main part of the resort - Pepper Market/Bus Stop etc.
Would like some suggestions on the best place to stay, we booked standard view?
TIA!

Well we all love CSR here! Check out my website below for pics, links and plenty of CSR info. CSR was rehabbed in 2004. Good luck deciding!!

Having stayed at all four now here is our order of preference:

POFQ
Coronado
POR
Carribean

We really liked FQ because of the way the theme was carried out, the size of the resort and the transportation, specifically the boat ride to DTD/PI.

We would not hesitate to stay at CSR if the FQ was booked. We were in the Casitas #3 with a lake view and really enjoyed the location, the room decor and the food court. Had we been stuck in one of the buildings nearer the main pool I don't think we would have been so happy.

If both of the above are booked I think I would opt to stay at a value over staying at POR or CB. We just did not care for them that much and a value in our opinion would then be just fine.

100AcreWood-

Never stayed at CBR. Would rate the others:

CSR
POR
POFQ

Thought CSR had the best transportation, food court, main pool & good food/drinks at the pool bar. Dixie Landings (POR) was our first on-site resort & we've enjoyed our stays there, too.
