Although I got Cabana 9B no extra charge (having sent a grovelling fax about it being special b/day and anniversary - I'm not proud!) :guilty:

Don't ask don't get

OK all of you CSR veterans, I have been reading through this thread and I think this might be the MOD resort for us. We like WL, but our next trip (which MIL will be paying for) is on a budget and we will be choosing a mod resort. I am looking around and I think this one is it. How is the walking to the main area and the busses?? the pool?? How is the transportation to the various kingdoms?? please tell me anything good that I should know about CSR. Thank You!!

Be proud. I've done the same and have gotten a cabana room but all I'm saying is that it's not guaranteed. I just don't want anyone to pin their vacation hopes on a cabana room and not get it.

Bus Transportation is great at CSR. CSR is centrally located. You are right across the street from Blizzard Beach, around the corner from AK, down the street from MGM and just a bit past that to EPCOT. MK is the furthest away then DtD is last. The buses are usually not as crowded because of conventions at the resort. You do not share transportation with any other resort either.

Internally, CSR just started to provide shuttles vis the golf carts to resort guests. The first stop is outside El Centro's back door. Just wait for a cart to come by and it will take you to any building. There are stops set up along the path around Laog Dorado for return trips to the main building or just flag them down. The carts have yellow strobe light on top and a sign that reads "TRANSPORTATION FOR" in the front. The carts used to be used for convention goers only but they have now open the service to everyone.

Although people say its spread out anyone who has experience of a cetreparcs-type holiday will not find it too big. There's 4 bus stops around the resort so there's one near you whereever you are (and No 1 is generally the last stop on the way back from the parks). We found the buses come fairly regularly - longest we had to wait was about 12 minutes, and that was only because we wanted a particular park - 5 other buses came before that!

Also if you're in Rancheros you can get free refills for your mugs (at restricted times) at the pool bar to save you walking all the way to el centro.

Thing is, if you don't like walking far is a Disney holiday right for you anyway? As Buzz says the golf carts wizzing around will give you a lift, but if you're set up to go with kids then you'll have a buggy anyway.

When traveling from one resort to another it has been suggested that it is better to take a bus to the nearest open park and transfer there. Going to DTD should be avoided. My question is: would it be better to transfer at EPCOT, MGM or AK. Which park has the best transportation from CSR or should we just jump on the first bus that comes by.

Depends on where you are going. If going to a monorail resort then take the Magic Kingdom bus. If going to any other hotels Epcot or MGM are fine since they are very close to CSR. I would avoid the AK bus for resort hopping since it sometimes stops at Blizzard Beach and the bus depot is spread out.

Great thanks for the info

I am truly enjoying reading this thread, but it might just take me the 13-months till my trip to read every single post! LOL.

So, forgive me if this question has been asked and answered more than once. Are there still charges for the boats and bikes and such? I thought I read somewhere (and I haven't a clue where) that with certain packages, the rental fees are included. Am I imagining things?

Again, forgive me if I'm asking something that's been asked, but I just can't seem to read this thread quickly enough.

Thanks! :goodvibes

DTD can get very full - we went there one evening and couldn't get into the car park nearer than Cirque du Soleil!

The detour to BB is not that long as it is opposite CSR (almost) -we found fewer AK buses ran than e.g. MK

I'm not aware of any package were these rentals are included.

That's ok - who cares, I'll be in Disney! I must have read something about some other place -- who knows. Thanks for responding.

BTW, I love your website! So helpful! I love this thread!

I have been on "The DIS" over the last few weeks; thanks to all for the useful information.

Myself, DW, DS, my brother, his DW and DS (DS's are both age 10), are going to WDW in November staying at CSR. We have already requested water view rooms when making the ressie. The plan is to stay at one of the cabanas since we want to be close to the main pool. Preferably, since we requested a water view room, we would like to look over the lake instead of a pool. I would like to look over the sandy beach. Is there any special cabana we should request? I am also under the assumption that I should fax in a request 3 - 4 days prior to arrival. One DS has asthma and non-smoking rooms for both parties is a must. Any other info would help.

This is my first post but I wanted to gear toward CSR patrons. We're really excited about going to WDW!!!

Thanks, and I appreciate all the info I have gathered already.

Cabana 8a is a nice choice. Half the building faces the lake and have does not. So if you paying for waterview you would be in the half that does face the lake. Cabana 9b has some rooms that face the beach and the lake too and some that just face the smaller lake in the rear of the building. All are nice but no beach views in the back. Our room (9510) was right in front of one of the hammocks. All of the building have the pathway inbetween the building and the beach/lake and are push back some so its not like you are on top of the water. I have some pictures on my website below of the view from cabana 8a and will be posting more this weekend. Cabana 9a has rooms that are smoking optional so you want to make sure you request a NON smoking room. Friends of ours got room 9204 and it definitely was a smoking optional room. They moved to 9547 which was a corner room with lake view but no beach. 9a also has the quiet pool which counts as waterview.

I found the shop at CSR better than any other resort shop we nosed into, and with a great selection of merchandise (especially the mugs!) :flower:

Short answer, Yes, there are packages. I think they only work at your "home" resort though. The information is from:

http://www.mousesavers.com/entertainment.html at the bottom of the page.

When I asked CRO about it they were clueless. You need to ask CRO to connect you with a recreation person. There are also AP and AAA discounts of 15% on rentals, but they don't apply to the packages.

The Captain's Plan costs $125 plus tax ($133.13 with tax). You get 4 hours total of boat and bike rentals, which can be divided among the members of your party. Your party can be any number of people.

The Unlimited Plan costs $239 plus tax ($245.54 with tax). You get unlimited boat and bike rentals for the length of your stay (up to 10 days), for all members of your party (maximum of 5 people).

Since the lake is pretty small at CSR, I think the packages would be a better deal at resorts on the bigger lakes. pirate:
