So, if I only want to pay for a "standard" room, what's my best choice? I'd rather be closer to a bus stop than El Centro. (we usually have more time to walk for dinner than to hit the parks before opening! :goodvibes ) No Cabanas though, huh? I'm so sad.... :sad2: Are there any standard rooms that don't look on a parking lot, maybe some trees or something? Close to a bus stop?

Thanks again for everyone's input! Glad I"m planning this a year out!

I didn't say that you wouldn't get cabanas, just that they are waterview rooms. We have gotten cabanas numerous times without paying for it. Last June was the first time we didn't stay in the cabanas since our first trip and we never pay for waterview. Casita 5 is close to bus stop 2 and the dig site. Rancho 7b is close to the bus stop 4 and the dig site. And rancho 7a is close to bus stop 3. All I am saying is not to let getting a cabana room dictate if you have a great trip or not.

We didn't pay extra for cabanas, and were only a 2 minute walk from bus stop 1 which is at one end of el Centro

Not too long a walk to the pool either, and very near the hammocks on the sandy beach (not that we had time to test them!)

Buzz thanks for all of the info. I really want to be in the Cabana section so I am hoping I get a better shot at one of those rooms with a waterview reservation. It certainly will not ruin the vacation if we don't!! By the way, when I booked my reservation the CM said that there is a new CSR map and that the cabanas have been renamed or renumbered.

I heard that just before we went (and just after I sent my fax requesting cabana 9b!) but the map we were given on check-in looked the same to me and certainly cabana 9b was in the same place as on Buzz's website ::MickeyMo .

A colleague of my DH is going to CSR in the fall and wants to know what she should ask for as a smoker accompanying someone in a wheelchair - is it cabana 9a? :wave2:

MazdaUK-the CSR map is a real puzzle! I had a copy of an older map and what I thought is a new map which shows 9B as 9E. When I made the reservation the CM pulled up the CSR map and she had the 9E map too! Isn't that strange that CRO would have one map and the resort is giving out another one? Who knows!! Sorry I can't answer your question about the smoking room.

I'll try to get these answers in 2 weeks. I can't wait to get there!

cabana 9a (old numbers) is smoking optional.

smoking locations
rollaway beds
new map confirmation

Last question before I leave.

Does anyone know how late the pool bar is open? My bf and I loved the pool bar at CBR, and it was usually open until 1am I think.

And how late is the other lounge open until?

It wasn't open very late when we were there. The refillable mug window closes at 6.00 (although the CM on duty did manage to unearth some tea-bags and hot water for me a bit after that) and the bar closed not long after - maybe dusk? (6.30-7.00?). It could be open later in the summer when its warmer perhaps - it did get cool in the evenings (although the pool was so warm it was still nice to swim, and the jacuzzi was blissfully hot!).

The bar in El Centro opens later, but with two smalls half asleep after a day at the park we never got to try it out.

It all depends on the season and how busy the resort is. I've seen it open till 10:00pm and I've seen it close at 6:00pm

Hey Buzz or anyone else who knows CSR

Are these rates for the watercraft still the same?
kayak - $6.10 for 30 mins, $10.32 for 60 mins
pedal boat - $6.10 for 30 mins, $10.32 for 60 mins
canopy boat - $24.88 for 30 mins
water mice - $20.65 for 30 mins
fishing pole - $3.75 for 30 mins
bicycle - $7.61 for 60 mins, $20.65 for all day
surrey bike - $16.90 (2 seater), $20.65 (4 seater) for 30 mins

Also my dn will be joining us on our trip, she will turn 18 the day after we arrive and my dd will be 19 a few days after. My dn has never been to Seaworld and wanted celebrate her birthday there, so that is our plan for that day. I'd like to have a Mickey birthday phone call for her before we leave for Seaworld that day or when we arrive back to our rooms that evening and the same for my DD. Can I ask the front desk for the birthday call's at check in? Anything else special that you guys and gals can think of to help celebrate their birthday's while we are at the world would be great. Also ds age 17 and ds who is 12 will be with us. Maybe something can include them as well. Thanks in advance for all your help. ;)

Also thanks Buzz for all of the great info on your website. :flower:
Thanks to you we are staying at CSR for the first time and can't wait!!!!!! :cool1:

Siesta's pool bar hours vary depending on the season. I usually found it closed in the early evening. Like around 6:00. Franciscos is usually open till midnight or 1am.

If there wasn't enough stuff to make you love this resort, CSR has now gone and added an internal resort shuttle service available to all guests. No more walking to the ranchos if you don't want to. Just wait at the established shuttle stops or wave down the specific golf carts for a ride. The carts have a sign on the front that read TRANSPORTATION for RESORT GUESTS and have a yellow light on the top of the cart. I will post pictures of the shuttle stop signs and the new cart signs when I return. CSR just keeps on adding new features.

DQ offers virtual reality type rides. my favorite is Pirates of the Caribbean and my DD loves Cyber Space Mountain. You make your own roller coaster and then get to ride it in a simulator. They have many other rides and games too. If you do a google search on Disney Quest you'll find info

Is it possible to do a room request?
I have NEVER done one before - always left it up to the Disney gods but we will be there 5/18 with a 2 1/2 yr old and a 12 week old. My plan is to come back to the resort everyday after lunch time to hit the pool for the entir afternoon and I would love for us to be near the pools.....which section is best for that...?
And how would I go about asking to be placed there?

Call CRO and add your request to your ressie. Cabana 8a and rancho 7b are very close to the Dig Site. Cabana rooms are waterview rooms and will cost more.
