With all the talk about codes and secret pins and discounts, I had to call "just to check". Well, no pin, no discount, but we got a AAA Standard room at CSR for $130/nt (including taxes) over christmas AND new years!:cool1: We'll probably drop the later days but I'd rather grab them now, than want them later and not be able to get them.

Dance with me....:dancer: party: :dancer: :ccat:
Hi, just curious what dates during the holidays did you get that great rate? Would love to go back during Christmas it was so beautiful!! Plus CSR celebrate Los Posados the Mexican Christmas Traditions and we would love to be there during that time.

Dec 19th (14 days takes us through 1/2/08). I always end up reducing days due to finances, but atleast for right now, I've got a home for christmas and new year's! :goodvibes

What size coffee filters will I need for the machine in the room? Is it the cone shaped ones or the regular ones? TIA

Hi Coronado lovers!

My son and I made a rather last-minute decision to go to WDW at the end of the month, and CSR popped up as available with an AP rate! I've stayed there once before (2/2001, in the Cabanas section) and DW and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. This time, we're going to request the Casitas...both my son and I are mightily impressed by the courtyards (and we won't mind a few conventioneers(<:)

Here's a pic that I stitched together from several shots available on Microsoft Earth...it really shows the expansiveness of the place:

Looking forward to reviewing your thread in the next couple of weeks!

That's a great photo. Thanks for sharing it. It really gives you a good idea how large an area the resort grounds cover. No wonder it always felt like I was walking forever to get to Pepper Market for my morning coffee. (I was in Casita 5 during my trip.)

What a great photo of the property. We are staying there in October & this gives me a good idea of how far I'll be walking around with my 1 year old son! :)

There will be some walking involved at CSR but not as bad as some make it out to be. The distance around the whole lake is just under a mile (.97 miles).

Walking Distances
From El Centro moving clockwise around the lake path to:
Casitas 3 = .16 miles
Casitas 4 = .24 miles
Casitas 5 = .27 miles
Ranchos = .46 miles

From El Centro to the Dig Site, via the bridge near the Cabanas
= .35 miles

From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles

WOW that is an awesome pic -- but it really makes it look like the distances are huge and in reality they aren't. I've actually found the walks to be very pleasant -- especially the morning ones when the world is just waking up, and the evening ones when the fountains and lights are on -- and I'm not into the whole exercise thing.

Most guests forget that there are always options to walking too. You can drive to the front (if you have a car), use the internal shuttle, or use the buses. Park buses start at bus stop 2 and work there way to bus stop 1 and DtD buses start at bus stop 1 and work there way to 4. So if you hop on a park bus at any bus stop, it will take you to the front. Just double check with the driver. If you are at the front, just hop on any bus to get to your section.

Thanks for posting the distances. It is not nearly as far as I thought it would be. Besides, it is nice to wake up in the morning and take a little walk :)

The one time we stayed there, I had the same experience...I SAVORED the long walks around the resort! So, I'm not worried about where we end up because of the potential walking distances. However, I'd like to avoid "most distant" Ranchos only because I'd be a bit too tempted to use the busses and might spend less time around the lake and El Centro.

My son, who hasn't stayed there, likes the look of the Casitas, so I've requested them for his sake. That would be great with me...we were in the Cabanas last time.

Hey, Buzz...has the Maya Grill lunch buffet been discontinued? I don't see the menu anywhere except in "old" pics.

That buffet started the week we were there last year in April. They said it was a trail period so as far as I know, it still is going on but I don't know 100%.

We just booked a long weekend trip and will be staying at CSR for the first time, YIPPEE! Would also love to know about the buffet? I made no requests other than non-smoking ,DD has Asthma, I am going to "try" to keep it that way. I tend to get all worked up on "view" or "location" and this time I just want to let all that stress go! We have our own car so transportation is no problem. The only thing I really, really like is a CLEAN room. I am a germ phobe and so if the room is clean, which I'm sure it will be, then all is GOOD! We leave in 3 weeks and I am so excited...I have not told our 2 DD's I am going to try and hold out until the day we are to leave. Love the thread and all the advice given on here. I know it will make our stay much more enjoyable!! Thanks!!

Now I am starting to worry if I picked the right place. That picture makes it look sooooooo big. I am concerned about the walk from the pool to the Food Court. At CBR we would walk from Jamica to the food court every morning, and walk from Jamica to the bus stop with no problem, we are walkers, but I don't want to push DH and DS to much. Wish I could find out how long that walk was.

From El Centro (main building/food court) to the Dig Site (main pool area), via the bridge near the Cabanas = .35 miles (just over one lap at a track)

From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles

Look at the same pictures of POR or CBR from google earth, they are bigger.

What an awesome thread! :yay: I'll be joining my husband at his convention at CSR in June, and I stumbled across this thread in trying to dig up info on the resort. While he is locked away in sessions all day, my teen daughter, niece and I will be out having fun.:rotfl: My main concern is that due to an ankle fracture  a few months ago, the size of the resort scares me a little as I can't walk the grand distances that I did on our first trip to WDW in 1991. I can manage a short walk, but the mad dash from park to park is going to go a little slower now. However, after reading the posts on this thread, I feel much more comfortable about the transportation around the resort and to and from the parks. As this is our first visit to CSR, are there any words of advice about transportation for those of us who have limited mobility?

Hi Everyone! I was just wondering if anyone has rented the individual speed boats from the CSR marina? I was wondering how fast they go? Also is there anywhere on Disney property to do water tubing?
