You make it sound like all rooms at POR with Murphy beds are Preferred. That is not the case. You can book a Standard room and still get a Murphy bed.

If all the rooms in Jamaica had them and no other Villages did then I could see them making Jamaica Preferred.

I am not being clear, I guess. What I mean is that if you want a guaranteed murphy bed, you have to pick preferred. You can still get a murphy bed if you pick standard, of course, but that is only a request. If you pick preferred, you are guaranteed. That is the difference, and I am wondering if this is how they will do it once you can book specific new rooms at CBR.

It doesn't matter as really - I will have this answered for me in a few months.

One does not have to do with the other. Preferred is close to food court not the fact it has Murphy bed so no need to change room category once refurbishment is complete. Booking a preferred at POR only guarantees close proximity to food court not a murphy bed. We were guaranteed a murphy bed in a room that slept 5 during our last trip and we booked a standard room. A room that sleeps 5 is what guarantees you a murphy bed

Lets put this to rest .............. I think you guys are saying the same thing, just differently . Even though this is a CBR thread , here goes .......

If you book a preferred room at POR you WILL get a murphy bed. ALL of the preferred rooms at POR are in the alligator bayou section , which ALL have the murphy bed. There are NO murphy beds in the mansions section, and none of the mansion are in the preferred category.
SO at POR ........if you want a guaranteed murphy bed, you can book preferred and you WILL get one .............not because only the preferred rooms have murphy beds, but they all do in the alligator bayou section, but only alligator bayou has preferred rooms.

I wish CBR were this easy for getting a murphy bed .

Jamaica is not preferred, and the preferred rooms in Martinique and Trinidad North have not been refurbished yet. I would book a standard or water view room, and put in a request for a room in Jamaica or Aruba with a murphy bed.

For some reason I thought I remember that some of Jamaica was changed to preferred after the refurb .
Do they have a "murphy" bed as a request for the online check-in ?

I don't believe so, since they aren't able to be booked yet. However, you should be able to call and request one via the central reservations line, and again when you check in.

Just checked the disney website. There are preferred rooms available for those dates, but at rack rate. They are not available under the "Late Fall Discount". You could nicely ask for an upgrade at check in and see what they can do. Maybe you'll get a free upgrade, maybe you'll have to pay, but it never hurts to ask.

Yes CBR has connecting rooms and they are spread throughout the resort. You can request that your room not have a connecting door.

THIS is precisely what I was trying to say all along LOL. Thank you for being more eloquent LOL!!! The whole thing was meant to be relevant to this CBR thread to say I wonder if CBR will adopt the same philosophy in the future, but I believe this is a dead quesiton and I will just wait and see LOL

I keep trying. I had booked a "Pirates" room cuz that's all they had available w/free dining. I checked on line and on the phone on a pretty regular bases. I arrive in 20 days and just last week (Tuesday) I finally was able to move into a "preferred room". Good Luck and have fun regardless.

You can ask for a redone room, but it isn't a bookable category, so there is no way to guarantee getting one.

For all who asked, my room number was 4217. I had requested 4249, 4252, 4217, or 4220 in that order. All were king bed corner rooms.

Did your king have a Murphy bed? Do you know if any of kings have or will have Murphy beds?

Mine did not, and while I suspect that some of the king bed rooms will have them, I can't say for sure.

I'm pretty sure the pirate rooms are also an up charge and NOT considered a "standard" room. At least least year when I got in for Marathon Weekend, she said they had upgraded me to a pirate room - at which I asked if it was possible to downgrade as a pirate room was NOT an upgrade to me (with running the marathon and being up Disney early for it, I did NOT need that extra wood to bump into!!). She called the room assigners and got me "downgraded".
