Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!
I was so stressed yesterday about changing resorts (was booked at POR) We decided that since POR was becoming so popular that Disney has decided to restrict the discounts. After a long talk with DH we decided to make a switch. Looked at CS but the whole buisiness atmosphere did not appeal to us at all. I did a little research on CBR and was nervous. Found your thread and all my stress disappeared. We will be staying Jan. 25 thru 30. All 6 of us. :dance3:

I'm so glad that you are no longer stressed about staying at the CBR. It really is a beautiful resort and has a laid back vibe to it. We fell in love with the place the minute we pulled onto the resort grounds. Approximately 100+ nights' stays later and we've never looked back.

I have 3 hours left at work before I am officially on vacation!!! We are taking off Sunday to CBR and I cannot be more excited! I have a pretty painted Minnie Mouse inspired Magic Band and fun Disney nails...I have my priorities straight! My DS9 is very excited for his first airplane ride and real vacation...and he is telling everyone he is going to WDW to go to T-Rex...lol At least he knows what he likes! I am crossing my fingers and putting on my "pretty pretty please face" to get a refurbed room...I will be sure to report back!
:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

Have a great trip!!!! Hope that you get your requested refurbed room.

I was counting down to when my vacation started, but now I can't wait to see what September 2nd holds. Will the pool be closed or not?

I sent an email to guest services today. This is the response:

Subject: Re: Disney Resort Hotel Reservations
Dear Tammie,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

At this point in time, we have not made any announcements regarding any
closures to the pool at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. We are working
on upgrading some of the rooms, but nothing that will effect the pool
area. Please keep in mind that the blogs such as the ones you have
mentioned are not official and not endorsed by Walt Disney World®.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.
Sincerely,
G............

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, the CMs are not kept up to date on what's going on and often give out misinformation. Right up until a day or two before we checked into the resort in May of this year, they were still saying that there were no room refurbs being done or even on the schedule. Of course, I knew that there was because people on the Dis were actually there and had seen it. When we checked in, sure enough, the construction was ongoing.

Here are my Minnie Mouse inspired nails and Magic Band :)

This is really cute. Did you use paint?

We are heading down to CBR on August 31st through September 7th for free dining.

There are five of us (including one infant) so I am REALLY hoping for a refurb'd room with a murphy bed. I called the resort today and requested a room in Jamaica, and also requested a room with a murphy bed. The cast member that I talked with said that the murphy bed request isn't an option for them, but I should be OK with my request for Jamaica. We usually request Martinique or Trinidad North because of their location, but here's to hoping we get a refurb'd room.

Does anyone know the percentage of refurb'd queen rooms that have murphy beds? I thought I saw earlier that it was around 50%...

For my band I just used a nail art pen and a shiny top coat. The nail polish wipes off with a wet wipe if you mess up. There are some very talented people decorating theirs on the DIS if you search for decorate magic band. Mine is very simple but Minnie is my favorite :) I took a picture from Pinterest to my nail salon and they did my nails there. I cant even paint my nails with a steady hand! Down to 24 hours til I leave for the airport!!

I haven't seen anyone's thoughts on shutters at CBR. Do you all eat there?

We usually eat there on our first and last nights at WDW, however we didn't this past April because we were touring with my sister who was staying off site so we had adrs in the parks.

I've found the food pretty good (especially their steaks) and the more recent reviews are better than a few years ago. :)

We've been back a few days now and I just uploaded our photos here:

We all really loved CBR!!! We reserved a preferred room and were in Martinique Bldg 24. I was surprised at how large the room was. The storage space was great and I thought the room was in really good condition. We used the coffee maker daily and the fridge did get cold enough to freeze our water bottles when it was turned all the way up. We only ate at the CS restaurant a few times, but I thought it was great. I used the Microwave to reheat leftovers and they had a spot with "To Go" plates and boxes, bags, plate covers, etc. It was really helpful to bring food out to the pool or back to the room.

Our girls loved the pool area and the slide. Our older DD is just 48" and they did measure her when she was in the pirate ship splash area. The girls also loved the hammocks and playground on the island. We roasted marshmallows one night and watched the movie near the pool area on several nights. The activities were great and we were always able to find a seat or space, so overall it didn't feel too crowded.

The buses were average for Disney. It did take a while with all the internal stops, so I always planned for a whole hour to get to where we needed to go. On average it took about 35 minutes to get everywhere. MK was the farthest and HS was the closest.

Hope that helps!
Amy

Is the main pool gated? And do you have to swipe a magic band to get in?

The pool is gated, but not locked and anyone can get in. They never checked our Magic Bands and they didn't give out resort pool wristbands like they do at some of the other pools (Poly).

I am wondering if anyone has experience with the pack n play/cribs at CB? We will have a king bed room. We are traveling with 20 mo old DD in October. She sleeps in a crib normally but does do PnPs on trips, etc. I have heard that CB only has the PnPs and the cribs,if there are any, look sort of like a jail cell. Lol. Just wondering if anyone has any experience? Pictures? How they set up their king room with PnP/crib? TIA!

Can't actually answer any of this from personal experience, but I think there would be enough space to set up a PnP in between the bed and the exterior door. Here's a photo of my room last week for reference-I'm thinking specifically the area by the connecting door.

I'm seeing a lot of room photos with connecting doors. I will need to make sure we don't get one - you get a lot of noise transference as they're not soundproofed.

I actually never heard my neighbors, but I know I had some because I saw them on several occasions. At the Grand Floridian, however...it was like we were in the same room with them!

We didn't have a connecting room last week. We were in room 4163, Jamaica second floor, two queen beds. It was a nice spot with a view of the water, although near the road and a little bit of a walk to places. We really likes the room though.

In the next couple days I will post some pictures. I took pictures if the "details" in the room. Hopefully some of the pictures will help answer questions.

Was Wondering which rooms are connecting or how you tell? I was looking at the rooms on touring plans and non of them in Jamaica said connecting available:(. Is this true or is the website not correct. Thanks a bunch:)

Website is wrong, my room was in Jamaica. It was a king room connected to a two queen room.
