The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

Welcome to the CBR thread! You should really take a moment to read through at least the first 5 posts of this thread. Dansdad does a stellar job of keeping this thread up to date with the CBR renovations happening even now. The Jamaica buildings are done and have been refurbished. Many of them do now have Murphy beds, which will allow for 5 to sleep in a room.

Thank you! I did read the first page and did several searches. But just a few days ago I was searching and read that murphy beds were not yet confirmed, but rumored, and then I read the "Breaking News" and got really excited. But I couldn't tell when that report was updated and just wanted to ensure that it wasn't a rumor or speculation.

Here's to hoping they are open for booking next Wed!

Will the ceiling fans survive the rehab or are they going away like the fans in the Royal Guest Rooms at POR?

Ah, I see it now. When I first looked at that picture the stuffed Mickey's caught my eye and I missed the 2 partial blades of the fan.

I couldn't remember if there was a fan in any of the pictures either. It was just luck that it was in the first picture that I looked at. ;)

There are pictures on 71 and 72 that show a murphy bed. It doesn't look to be full length but somewhere between full length and toddler length.

My guess is that for parties of less than 5, it will be a request-only rather than a direct booking thing. Like AB over at POR.

Thank you! I can't see pictures on my work computer so I will take a look at them now.

I called to see if a CM had any more information as to maybe when these rooms could be booked. Sadly he didn't and said it could be "any day" after the 30th.

Just got home from the airport. Had a wonderful stay (as always!) at CBR. My request was honored, and we had a remodeled room in Jamaica (Bld 44). I saw that construction has started on Aruba, so that will also be an area to request to get a refurb room in the near future.

We will be at CBR Aug 3-10. I can't wait! When I did my first college program I worked at the food court there. Can I call and try and request a room with a murphy bed? I really would love to have my kids in their own bed and not with me. Thanks in advance.

Welcome! I've added your dates to the Beach Bum Roll Call. Yes, you can call and add a request of room with a Murphy Bed.

I think on the 30th WDW will start releasing some 2015 dates. So far, you CAN request a Murphy bed room for sure in the Jamaica buildings. Aruba is being refurbished as we speak. When I was there in May, they had begun Jamaica. If each building is allotted about 2 months for refurbishment, Aruba should be done by August of 2014. So, I would say it is safe to assume nearly the whole resort would be done by Spring 2015.

The CM's likely won't really know. LOL. So far, we've got more updates here from resort stayers. :goodvibes:rotfl:

I can't remember...does online check-in have a space for building or village requests?

I've been hoping somebody that has done online check in recently would post a screen shot of the options, but none have yet. I do know there is no space to "write in" anything.

I have found it best to call and add any room requests to your reservation. This way you are not tied to the predetermined options listed during online check in. It's the old fashioned way, but it still works great. :thumbsup2

Ok, thanks. I think it was still fairly new when I checked in for last year's marathon weekend at CBR.

I stayed at POP for Everest weekend, and I remember there being a part to request one of the decades...but I think I had a preferred room, so I don't know if that made a difference.

There is a check box for the block of buildings, i.e. Aruba, Jamaica etc, but no space to write anything and no area to select a building number. I checked in just a few days ago.

I selected Jamaica and Ground Floor as my two room request choices, so we'll see if we get it!

@dansdad Here you go! Just did mine:

First Option:

Choices you can select:

I just did my online check in and requested the Jamaica section! I was tempted to put 2nd floor as my other request, but I don't want to be too demanding, because I'm really hoping to get into the Jamaica section! :cool1: I've never done a request with online check in though, I've always called, so I hope this works!

Thanks y'all! :) Appreciate it!! That way if they're not done by January, I'll know which village to request!

Interesting they have water view as a request option since it's technically a paid upgrade if done at booking. Though I guess when you pay it, it's guaranteed.

We will be there 9/26 - 10/3. This will be our 2nd time here at the Caribbean. Trying to decide if we want to request a refurbished room. Is there 1 location that is best for toddlers?
