I know you larger families are excited about the murphy beds. I am too for my son.. they are having their 3rd child this week!!!!! however..

are ALL the room going to have the murphy beds? they take up drawer space. usually it is just the 2 of us and we dont' need it (we try not to get a king room cause it's extra money)

No, not all the rooms have murphy beds. You can see in the first pictures that were posted that there are not murphy beds in those.

Smidgy, I don't think all of the rooms will have the fold out bed. Phillipsjp2003, posted that the second room had it. It works for everyone!

Hooray for the Murphy beds! That news made my day! *celebrating* thank you so much for posting those pictures!

Am I the only one that hates this new look? It's so dark!! Where's the light, bright caribbean colours?? And the heavy wooden doors? This looks too much like Coronado Springs, which I totally hated in January.

I called to see if I could add a 5th person to my Sept reservation~ no go! She said not enough rooms are done yet. I plan to keep trying weekly or so... hoping for some magic. :goodvibes :wizard: Can you tell me the specific room number with the murphy bed? Maybe I could request that specific room. I have my requests in for Jamaica and renovated room...:thumbsup2. So very happy to see the pictures of a new room in use!!!!? Thanks for taking time out for the update!!

just booked 9/28- 10/3! first disney trip for our daughter (she'll be 21months)...4th for dh and i....we normally stay at sports but with the free dining this was a better deal and more things for dd to do during downtime....last time i stayed at cbr was 1997 with our high school marching band....so excited!!!!!

I agree - I expected a softer, relaxing look and feel!

BTW still waiting on rates!

I agree. I was surprised and excited with the colorful nemo rooms.. oh well.

I love the new look. The photos are fairly dark so the rooms do appear darker than in some other photos but I think it looks clean and fresh. The rooms were looking really dated to me before. And how cute is the Mickey pic inside the Murphy bed? I love it!:goodvibes

I don't "hate" it and initially thought that it needed a bit more color. But, after looking at the pictures, I see that there are some splashes of color...the oranges and greens. I think that it will grow on me. We have stayed in the rooms pre-Nemo theme and old furniture, Nemo themed and new furniture and am looking forward to staying in the newly refurbed rooms with all new furniture and fixtures when we return in May. I remember when they put in the slight-Nemo themed items into the rooms and people complaining about the bright/loud colors. I actually liked them. Guess that I'm pretty easily pleased.;)

Does anyone know how many buildings have been completed so far? We are heading here in September (Free Dining and Food and Wine Festival) 18-28. We stayed here in 2007 looking forward to trying it again. We are traveling with a group and have requested staying close together. Mom needs a roll - in shower room, sister has a king bed reserved, sister - in - law has a standard Pirate Room, me standard room. We'll see what happens.

From recent reports, it sounds as if many of the Jamaica buildings are done. Given the various types of rooms that your group has booked, I would suggest that your mother, you and your sister request Jamaica. Your sister could request a pirate room closest to the pathway to Old Port Royale. There are handicap and king rooms in each village. Jamaica is closest to Trinidad South where the pirate rooms are. It'd be easy to walk from Jamaica to Trinidad South and vice versa.

Thank you mickeystoontown. Love your trip report also can't wait for more. I stayed up till 2 am reading it last night. How far of a walk is it from Jamaica to OPR. Mom and dad also have walking issues and mom has stamina issues also. Just want to make sure we accommodate all needs. We will also be traveling with an infant (20 months) again something we haven't done since our time there in 2007.

Thanks for the pictures of the new rooms!! I do like the light fixture over the table. One question about the murphy-type beds -- how long are they? It's not something we'd likely need, but can anyone other than a small-ish child actually sleep on these comfortably?

You are welcome. I'm glad that you are enjoying the report. Hoping to write another installment soon.

Our walk from Jamaica 43 to Old Port Royale took maybe 5 minutes at a leisurely pace. My mother has gone with us several times with two of those times being in Jamaica and once in non-preferred Martinique. She has arthritis in her feet and also has stamina issues. However, she had no problems walking from any of those locations to the food court. I would think that you'd be fine in Jamaica. My other recommendation would be in one of the non-preferred Martinique buildings. You wouldn't be as close to the pirate rooms but you wouldn't have to cross the island to get to OPR.

Darla, I remember someone on the POR thread saying that their pre-teen slept on the murphy-type beds there. I bet that it's probably the same size mattresses at the CBR.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help. I'll be looking for your next post on your trip report. Your titles are so captivating. By the way where can I get a shirt like that.

You are welcome! Oh, there's no way that you can get a shirt like that one. It's too totally awesome and I'm sure that they were in such high demand that they are long gone. :rotfl2:

Had a great first day at Caribbean beach. The pool is awesome, resort is beautiful, and we enjoyed our dinner at Shutters. A huge storm blew through and rained out the camp fire and movie by the pool but passed in time for a late evening swim.

Just to answer a few questions I saw.

1. The room with the Murphy bed has a little less storage as the fridge takes up the space of the two drawers on the left. They are faux drawers that open as a cabinet with the fridge inside. there are three drawers under the Murphy bed and the two drawers to the right are larger than the drawers In the room without the Murphy bed.

2. After walking around today 41, 42, and 43 are finished and have guests. 44 is nearly done, looks like finishing touches. 45 and 46 are currently being worked on.

3. The Murphy bed is fairly small and intended for smaller people. It is smaller than a twin bed but bigger than a toddler. I don't have anything to measure with but it is exactly the same as POR. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing those dimensions online some where. When we took our big music group to POR last year we did have some smaller 12 and 13 year olds sleep on it.

4. Definitely a mix of 4 and 5 people rooms in the refurb. Hopefully they will be bookable soon, or at least request-able.

5. You can get a great view of the new Frozen firework show from the middle of the main pool. It looked like a huge display, I can't wait to see it later in the week.
