The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

Hi Everyone;

I too have been searching for pictures of the refurbished rooms as I am planning a visit to CBR later this year and the bedding situation is my main concern. I came across some pictures on easywdw.com/forums. Select the forum called Disney Resorts, then the sub forum called Disney Resort Reviews.
There you will find a thread called "CBR Refurb has Begun" started by "pharmer". The posted pictures are in posts #57 and #59. The thread also provides some insight regarding if this refurb will be resort wide or only for certain buildings. I am a long time lurker and seldom poster, so please excuse me if I am somehow breaking a rule by referencing another website, and I am in no way taking credit for the pictures. If these pictures have already been previously posted and discussed, my sincere apologies. I just thought I could try to repay all of you for the fantastic insights and knowledge I have gained from the DIS boards.

Thanks Colt and dae3dae3! I absolutely love the lighting and the doors! It looks as if the benches have changed and don't have storage space anymore. :sad2: Those benches they had were super convenient. I am hoping to get a refurbished room when we go in December and I suppose I will find some way to get over the bench. :lmao:

I'm glad you asked this - I hope it's not like that. We stayed in a hotel in Boston like that and woke up in the middle of the night completely sweating! It was horrible! We were originally booked at AoA but moved with the free dining. So glad we moved to CBR!!

Btw - can't help but comment on your picture. Are you from Buffalo?? We are!!

If they DO change the thermostats to the motion sensor type, I've read where people will tie a balloon to a chair so that some motion is always present. Not sure how well it works and sounds like a hassle for two adults to lug a balloon back to the room :rolleyes1 Hoping the AC stays as is!

And yes, we are from Buffalo! Wheatfield to be exact. Go Bills! :thumbsup2

Also hoping the AC unit stays on! We need some "white noise" to sleep and I don't want to have to bring a fan with.

I couldn't see the benches viewing these pics from my iPod, not sure if part of the pictures are cut of when viewing on this. Not crazy about the bland color scheme but I'll take it if it sleeps 5! Does it look like the benches are now Murphy beds?!! I would be so excited for that confirmation!!! I won't be able to check out these pics on my computer til later. What is everyone else's thoughts?

The new rooms look lovely and airy. I really like them. Especially the light fixtures! I do hope they add a runner to those beds for a pop of colour because they do make it look a little plain. I imagine they will since they've added them to all of the other rooms that they've changed the bedding in. A small thing, but I think it will really stand out and finish off the look.:)

I too am hoping for a refurbished room in December. The only request we made was for a building in Jamaica. I just love love love the yellow buildings. Again though, it won't be the end of the world if we don't get our requests. It would just be nice.:)

In the third pic you can see the bench on the right next to the dresser/tv stand. There is luggage on the bench and something stored underneath it. It looks to be just a normal bench. Sorry it does not look anything like a murphy bed.

There is a ceiling fan in the room that you can turn on for white noise. :)

Totally agree with you about everything! The beds really do need a pop of color. We will be there at the same time. Maybe we will both get lucky! Who knows...we might be neighbors for a couple of days! :goodvibes

btw everyone...sorry, I should have multi-quoted these responses.

I'm a little concerned about the AC/motion sensors. DH likes the temperature Arctic. He also needs white noise, but if there's a fan, that'll do.
The customizer in me sees the possibility to make the beds uniquely you: stuffed animals, blankies ... we always drive and keep two Disney themed fleece throws in the car that I could see as our pop of color. And really, why stay inside except to sleep - what with MK, AK, DS, & Epcot calling you. OR the pools. Or the beaches.

And then there's the other part of my brain that started playing the James Bond theme because it looks a little like some of the hotel sets in Dr. No.

"The name is Mouse, Mickey Mouse."

Although that might explain why DH loves CBR so much. Hmmmmmm.

The pics described in the previous post so you don't have to bother trying to track them down. I just left them as links instead of inserting them into the post since they are pretty big.

There are a bunch of pictures on page 23 of this thread showing the new rooms while they were being changed over, but these do appear to be less messy than those ones!

I love the wooden decor but I think the bedspreads need colour. The white linen just shows up the creases. Shame wdw seems to fell that they need to prove that the bedding is clean by changing it to boring white. I am interested to see what the bathroom looks like and I like the shade of paint they have used on the walls.

We are from North Tonawanda!! Wow small world :) we will be at CBR from sept 29- oct 9

Is there a way to see how far they've gotten in the refurb, like a way to talk to the hotel directly? Or do we just have to rely on reports here?

You're welcome to try CBR's resort line but it's still a call center. There is no "direct" line to the resort. I do not imagine Disney will update the CBR pictures online until the refurbishments are done.

So far, this thread has been the most informative.

As the previous poster said, if you call the Disney Travel line, you're going to be sent to the call center and not directly to the resort. Even if you were to call, they probably won't show that the resort is undergoing a refurb as the last time that I spoke with them (last week), they didn't even have the resort on their refurb list. We all know that it is definitely undergoing a room change because I, along with several others, have actually seen it being done.

I'd stick close to this thread for refurb updates. There are quite a few Disers who are going soon and they have promised to find out anything they can while there.

We are very excited to try the Caribbean Beach for the first time July 2015 from the 25th for three weeks! Thanks to everyone for all the hard work that has been put into this thread. It is just brilliant.
