The New "Anna & Elsa" Magic Kingdom Rope Drop

My concern, the same as a pp, is what happens with those that have early morning ADRs or yours booked. Will we no longer be able to walk & take pics with an almost empty park.

They have a designated line to the far left after the turnstiles for those with Breakfast reservations. They do let you in, and before rope drop, I suppose you could wander at least between the park entrance and the carousel in FantasyLand. You never could walk through the entire park in the AM. But you better get out of the way when the park opens. And to be honest, I think everyone who had early breakfast ressies were in the holding area behind the castle waiting for the queue to start for A&E.

Just to clarify - the only people who have to go through the castle are the ones going into FL, right? If we are starting at BTMRR and Splash, there will be a way for us to take a left fork off in that direction?

Right. I started in Frontierland last week, and we had to wait for the second RD there.

So, could you cut through tomorrowland terrace area and go through tomorrowland? I just want to get to SDMT

I loved the new rope drop. Early reservations arent affected and you can take pics in front of the castle. Everyone must circle around the carousel so no mad dash to the right. Since I already met pooh and Tigger earlier in the week I wrapped up at CP early and got 5th in line for Anna and Elsa all in a calm fashion.

Yeah I knew about how it normally works but wasn't sure how it would now with the changes. I actually love doing pre RD ADRs & then watch all the people come in, it's funny how everyone pushes their way through, kind of reminds me of a pack of zombies or something, lol. :)

Things I still need to pack:
Rosary
Pepper spray

I can't imagine what the running with the bulls is going to be like for during our July trip. I am going to try for a afternoon FP for these girls. I have my doubts that it will happen

This is great news!! Thanks for sharing your personal experience!! We have a 8:05 ADR at CP and was hoping this would get me near the front of the line if we just ate and left. My kids don't have any interest with Pooh and friends. I would live to hear more experiences like this to see if this really works or if PP was just lucky.

We had a pre-opening ADR at BBB last week. We were let in early and were free to take pics on Main Street as usual.

As we finished up at BBB (I hadn't noticed the time) and were getting ready to leave, the CM led mob was passing through the tunnel. I literally held DD to me in the doorway afraid that she would be trampled! :lmao:

There did seem to be quite a bit of jostling as the pack approached the carousel and were led into the line. We let the dust settle before venturing out. We asked one of the CMs stationed in front of the carousel (no one is allowed on the right side of the carousel until much later in the afternoon) how long they estimated the wait to be. She said 4.5 hours-at 9:10 am.

We had quite a nice time in New Fantasyland that morning, but once the SDMT is in the mix I imagine it will only get crazier.

Thanks for the info....I was the other PP that had the same concerns about pre park opening ADRs and the new RD entry. When we are in MK we won't be part of the crowd wanting to get to Fairytale Hall because we have FP+ for A&E later in the week. My concern was that we wouldn't be able to walk leisurely down Main Street and take our annual family photo in front of both the Partner's Statue and the Castle. I'm glad that part has not changed :goodvibes. It will be very interesting to see this in person because I have been in awe with all the pictures I have been seeing of the massive crowds going to a meet and greet. While everyone else is going to Fantasyland, our family will be making a bee line to either Frontierland or Tomorrowland :woohoo:.

Not sure if this is exactly the case all the way until the afternoon. We were there this past weekend, and in the morning the A & E line was well within the roped queue and people could pass easily through that area by the carrousel and PFTH. We had FP+ for both sides of the hall, and rode the carrousel and all, and had to park the stroller in that area, and it's very accesible. I think just first thing in the morning as they are leading the line to the A & E standby you can't go to the right of the carrousel, but that isn't the case a few minutes later. It's just to get the line organized within the queue and not allowing anyone to run around that way to cut off people.

I spoke with a couple with a small toddler who arrived at MK at 8am for rope drop on Sunday (Mother's Day.) There were towards the front of the rope after the morning show (no ADR or anything) and they only waited 30 minutes in standby. :) I know they couldn't have waited too long because I chatted with them in line for Tink around 10am and they were showing me pics on their phone of their DD with A & E. :)
