Thanks PIXIEDUST34. :goodvibes Any other opinions on the bus service? Have others found that there is no set order for the bus stops? :goodvibes

I have also found that there's no set order to the bus stops. Now of course they do travel in a clock-wise direction when looking at the POR map, but there's a few different entrances into the resort that the drivers use, and those different entrances result in which stops gets 1st service, 2nd, etc.

Have most of the rooms been refurbished. The pictures of the rooms do not look like they have been refurbished.

They are just starting rehabs at POFQ and POR. Think someone reported Magnolia at POR was closed for rehab last month? When I was at POFQ in September they indicated hopefully in October things would start there. Andre keeps pretty good tabs on it at portorleans.org so keep and eye out there.

Are they re-habbing POR? I am getting a little nervous about the crowds this year because I was looking to see what was available (in case I won the lottery and could upgrade). Just about everything seems to be un-available. Thanks for the up-date

I thought it was unclear whether that rehab was just the elevators or the elevators AND the rooms. I'm hoping it's for the elevators and the rooms! If anyone has any recent rehab info, please post.

Mouseplanet reported refurb sched for POR but added the elevator interiors onto their statement. Making it unclear as to whether the whole building or just the elevators. Andre states that it was just the elevators. I've heard no more about it since.

The building permits filed were somewhat vague; both Andre and I posted far back.

They filed building permits for room refurbs and went back amended them with some of the buildings for elevator rehabs.

You can check it out at Andre's site.

I was at POR Wed-Sun this week. I did not see any indication that a refurbishment was going on in any of the rooms. We stayed in Magnolia, but walked the whole resort on Sunday.

We will be staying at POR for our first time in October.
I will be needing a pack-n-play bed for the baby. Has this ever been an issue for anyone staying here?
There is no way we can function without one. We usually stay on DVC points and have one right in the room. We already have to bring along a stroller- having to check a pack-n-play would really add to our luggage!
I did request one on our reservation, but we all know that's not carved in stone!!
So- I guess I'm asking if anyone has had trouble getting a pack-n-play at POR before? If so, how was it resolved?
Thanks!
-Sarah

Don't worry, if you've requested a pack'n'play then you should get one. Just remind them at the front desk when you check in, in case it isn't already in the room for you.

can anyone tell me appoximately how long it takes to walk from Riverside to FQ? I was looking at Menus and the food court there looks better for breakfast than Riverside does

From the main building, it is less than a ten minute walk.

You can also take the water taxi from POR to POFQ starting at 9:00 am.

You can also go to DTD to WPE for breakfast - they have a lovely menu as well.

The river ferry service starts at 10am now (since Boatwright's no longer serves breakfast - boooo :( ). Buses are available earlier for folks wanting to get to DTD for breakfast though.

To be honest I'd have said Riverside was just as good at FQ for breakfast, but a nice stroll down the river bank is always a pleasant way to start the day.

Hello,

We are staying at POR in November. We want to make the rope drop at the MK (9:00). What time should we try to get on a bus? 8:00 or earlier?

Drats - forgot about no breakfast at Boatwright's anymore. Now I am missing my Sweet Potato Pancakes...:sad1:

Glad you clarified about the water taxi. It is a very nice stroll over there. Worth it just for the beignet.

It always good to figure at least an hour for a trip anywhere, especially for rope drop. By the time, you get there, there is also a little show ahead of time, so if you are a bit early, you will get to enjoy it.

They serve sweet potatoe pancakes at The Wave at the Contemporary

I've got to get to POFQ next time for a beignet. Just one more thing I've always wanted to do but don't get around to it. :rolleyes1

One of my workmates was there in July and said they weren't on the menu.

Quoted from a CM who used to work at Port Orleans and now works at The Wave, who I'm assuming has recently posted in this thread too.... :)

AS OF SEPT. 15, 2010 SWEET POTATO PANCAKES WILL NOW BE SERVED AT THE WAVE.
THE WAVE IS LOCATED ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE CONTEMPORARY, JUST PAST THE FRONT DESK!
FROM ANY RESORT, TAKE A BUS TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM AND WALK 6 MINUTES OVER TO THE CONTEMPORARY!
THE SCOOP OF PECAN BUTTER IS NOW BIGGER!!! WOO HOO!!!
