What this made your new favorite over POR?

Definitely the size. It was so manageable compared to POR. Plus the one bus stop is great. I could hear the groans from people staying at POR when the bus had to stop at POFQ. :) Plus unlike Caribbean Beach, Coranado Springs & POR we did not have to ask each other if this was our bus stop.

It's so hard to know which one to pick! Too late for us now though anyway. I'm sure we'll enjoy POR this time, we'll just have to do PFQ next trip.

Could anyone who's been to POR or POFQ earlier this year answer a quick question for me?

When did the resorts switch from issuing the "Sassagoula Times" four-page letter-sized information handout at check-in to the new fold-up glossy leaflet which they now stick into a small wallet with your keycard?

I know the Sassagoula Times version was still being issued back in Jan/Feb, but it had been replaced by mid-August. Could any recent visitors let me know a) what date they checked in and b) which version they were given?

Thanks all!

Andre

The way I look at it you can not go wrong with any Disney Resort. If you are staying on property than that is all that matters. ;)

We checked in at POR Sept 19 and got the little fold-up version. We also stayed at the Poly this trip too and they also give up the little foled version as well. We were looking forward to geting the "Sassagoula Times" because we love putting that in our scrapbook as a little memento and this was our first time staying there. Oh well.

Will be visiting in January 2010 and would like to know if the Campfire singalong still exists. Tried to get accomodations at Ft. Wilderness for that
campfire but they were sold out. So now I'm thinking we may stay at Port Orleans if they still have their campfire. If so, does anyone know what days it's offered. Thank you.

We were there early Feb 2009. They were doing the Campfire then. They told me that they would be only doing it twice a week at that time, but I think that because of interest, they were there every night.

Only 17 more days until POR! The excitement is mounting!!!!

I am sure this has been answered before, but what is the soap and shampoo like at POR? Is it bars of soap, or liquid?

TIA

Paula

They have the shampoo and conditioner in one and bar soap

We just returned from POR and for the most part really enjoyed it. I did not like the double beds vs queen but it worked out ok. We stayed in building 24. I liked that there was quiet pool with laundry close by. The west stop was great. We never really had any issue with catching a bus there except we had to stand once. That wasn't a big deal either. We were the second stop to pick up that time and the driver actually skipped the other stops. I am sure there were some unhappy people.

The boys grumbled about the distance to the main pool on the first day, but by the end of the trip they were ok with the walk. You could actually do it in 5 -7 minutes which isn't bad. It is a little dark, but I always felt safe.

The room were sufficient in size but I wish that the trunk opened up to store stuff. We actually lifted it up and put stuff underneath to clear up clutter. My boys don't like sleeping together so the both used single air matresses on the floor. Because of the doubles, hubby and I didn't sleep in the same bed. He is too crazy ! We never even pulled out the trundle.

The food at the food court was good, but we never tried Boatwrights. We spent a lot of time at the resort and will definitely return.

we just got back from por a few weeks ago. we stayed from the 7th until the 15th of sept. it was fabulous! everything was excellent. it is our favorite resort. everytime we go to disney we think of trying another resort but always go back to riverside. while there we are always glad we made the choice to go back. talked to dd tonight about our next trip to disney. she said she would not want to stay anywhere else but riverside.

it was my brother in laws first time at disney. my sister has been to disney but this was her first time on property. the whole family just feel in love with this resort! i strongly urge anyone considering a disney vacation to give riverside a try. you wont regret it.

also, just wanted to let you know we started a free pay it forward swap at port orleans riverside on the budget board. please click the link below and check it out!!!

The link in your sig seems to be broken, the correct link to the Port Orleans Pay It Forward scheme is: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2247227. What a great idea by the way - mind if I mention it in my Port Orleans site somewhere?

Oh, and speaking of my site, could I just add a quick mention [shameless plug] asking that when people write trip reports about their Port Orleans stays, I'd be really grateful if they could post just the resort-related bits to the Trip Reports section on my www.portorleans.org site too. Obviously I don't want to detract from all the great reports here, but if you could just take a few moments to even do a simple cut'n'paste, that'd be great. Many thanks.

Andre

andre,
thank you so much for fixing the link for me. i better fix it in my signature as well. if you would mention it on your site that would be great!! thank you so much.

i am registered over at your site too. i will give a trip report on there today!! thank you so much!!!

our 2nd trip to POR coming up in november (1-7)
i am embarassed to say, that the first trip i never found Bob at the piano.

can someone explain where he is and if he has a schedule?

I heard he is great, and want to try to find him.

Grin, he's at the piano.

OK, so now you want to know where the piano is I guess... :)

Bob plays at the River Roost Lounge (located between the main lobby and Boatwright's Dining Hall) from Wednesday to Saturday evenings, starting around 8.30pm. And yes, he's definititely worth catching up with.

Andre

Okay...thanks to all you helpful dis folks and Andre's fabulous site, I am now booked at POR for 1/4-1/10! It looks just beautiful and I am excited to check out a new resort. Sis and BIL have requested Mansions, and I've requested a AB room, but given that I'm a single, not sure I'll get it, since it seems that this is a marathon resort??

No matter!

A couple of questions:

1) Do the carriage rides need to be booked in advance?

2) How's Magical Express to this resort? Do they stop multiple other places first?

3) How much will I love this place???? ;)

apple, when we went this past sept. riverside was the first stop when we used magical express. we got dropped off before the deluxes which was great!! you will most defenetely love this resort!!! i'm not sure about the carriage rides.

A couple of years ago, we treated my MIL and FIL to a carraige ride.
The next day, my wife and I were walking to the main building, and we saw one of the drivers. We asked if they had any openings, and she took us right away.
If they have openings, they can take you.
