Does anyone know what the hours of the concierge desk are? I'm sure it's in this thread somewhere but I can't find it!!

From www.portorleans.org

A concierge (Guest Services) desk is located in each lobby area from which you can get general information, purchase park and other tickets, make dining reservations, etc. The hours are normally 7am to 8:30pm.

Check out this site. It has a lot of good info about Port Orleans (French Quarter and Riverside)

We were just there last week, and they do close around 8:00pm.
However, they also told us that if we needed anything after hours, to see the people manning the check in desk to see if they can assist us.

Yeah, I should have looked there first. I've studied it in depth but being tired and stupid, I asked here first.

Sorry about that - looking forward to my third POR stay overall, starting this Thursday!

We had a very pleasant 10 night stay at POR. Our room location was great - very close to the bridge across the island between the mansions and the main building.

Foodcourt wasn't not too crowded, food was great (loved the milkshakes and beef and blue cheese sandwiches, and the select-your-own pasta portions are still enormous).

Buses were great across the stay except for one notable wait at Epcot one evening. There was definately something in the bus depot water as the drivers were all much friendlier and smilier than I remember them being during previous stays! We used the south and east depots and had no wait problems at either. The order of stops visited varied alot - often went around the minor depots before stopping at the south depot, and sometimes went to POR before POFQ.

We had problems using the internet (no luck solving it although they did make efforts to assist us), the zero on the room phone didn't work (they replaced it), and we came across one lady at concierge who to put it mildly was a sullen bag of uselessness. The other concierge staff though were great, including the outstanding Pat who was beyond fantastic in helping us fix dining reservation problems.

The laundry machines were effective, although the dryers take 1 hour, not the 30 minutes posted (the $2 lasts the whole time, you don't need to re-pay after 30 minutes).

Last but not least, our housekeeper was fantastic, and gave us a number of towel animals which was really appreciated by us even though we had no kids staying in our room. Very cute!

Walking around the beautiful grounds is such a nice contrast to the busyness of the parks, I continue to heart POR :)

Thanks for the update Carys & others, I've updated my website with the corrected opening hours for Concierge and the new laundry room prices.

Hi, my family are saying at POR Oct 2010, & i was wondering when the rooms last had a refurb? As i have read a few reviews that the rooms were looking a bit worn/outdated.

I'm pretty sure that the rooms were last rehabbed in 2005.

The other two (CSR and CBR) mods have had recent rehabs, and I wonder if POR/POFQ will be slated for one soon. I also wonder if there will be any tie-in with The Princess and the Frog if/when the PO Resorts are rehabbed because that movie fits the theme of both Port Orleans Resorts perfectly.

hi, thanks for that. Yes it would be very interesting if they incorporated the princess & the frog theme to PO resorts when they eventually have a rehab, guess i'll have to wait & see.

Does every room at Riverside have a privacy curtain in the bathroom?

I saw a pic on allearsnet in Alligator Bayou that didn't look like it had a curtain.

That would be really fun! I just hope they keep the roll aways if they refirb. ANother thought would be to add more one queen/bunk rooms. I would love if a mod had them!

The Alligator Bayou rooms do have a privacy curtain.

My Mom has emphysema and can't do stairs. She can walk fine but absolutely cannot do stairs. I've told the cm the situation and requested a room on the 1st floor. Should I fax and/or call 5 days prior to the trip? I also requested to be near the main building. We have 2 rooms booked but only 1 must be on the 1st floor. Any other suggestions?

For location requests on medical grounds you should contact the Special Assistance dept at WDW in advance of your stay to discuss your needs, which will then be given priority. I think the number is (407) 939-7807. For more details, check out the Disabilities board here.
