So for the last 2 weeks I've tried 3 times to book the Campground for a throw away room. The first night was around 11:00 p.m. Eastern and got an error that something was wrong and to try back later. After trying repeatedly for 30 minutes I gave up.

A few days later, got to the point where I could actually choose guests and it crapped out again. (same error as before where you get the picture of some Koala bear thingy).

A few days ago got to the payment screen and it died again.

really? I'd think that Disney would have a more stable website.

OK, so finally try to do it today. Found I messed up with adding a guest, but fixed that on the MDE account side. Amazingly I get a different error:
Someone Ate the Page!
Or for some other reason, the page you're looking for cannot be located. Just in case, please check the URL.

Try #4, 5, and 6 yield the same thing.

Finally Try #7 it works.

Here's the dumb (IMO) part:

My sister's children are currently 6 and 3. The oldest has a birthday in Sept. He will then be 7 (I'm bad a math, but not that bad)

So his MDE profile says 6 right now.

I go to book the room and Disney says:
age of children AT TIME OF TRAVEL.

Well, in October (which is when we're traveling/booking) he'll be 7.

So I put down 7.

Oh but now I can't add him as a guest because his MDE profile shows he's currently 6. Seriously?

So I'll just lie and say he's 6. Not that I don't think the Mouse will check, but these are things that should be worked out before going live. I'm fairly certain when I've booked cruise tickets (not on disney) and airline tickets, that "age at travel" has always meant the dates for the actual travel/booking and NOT the date you reserved something.

Granted, these are first world problems and there's far more important things to worry about. To be fair, the last time I saw a website this buggy was MSC Cruise lines. LOL!

As far as Disney rules at the resorts and parks are concerned,
the age of the child on the date of check-in (or first use of a ticket) is the only age that counts for the entire trip.

But the child will be 7 for the trip. He's 6 now.

OP, either you did this OR Disney did this, but I would bet that Disney feels that you entered an *age* for him when you made his DME profile, instead of a birthdate. When you enter a birthdate (or when Disney recognizes that you did so) then the person ages on DME as well as IRL. So something got stuck (or it's how you made his profile). A call to tech support can fix it.

But for a hotel booking 6 vs 7 means nothing.

Yes. Sounds like the child's birth date in the system is set to something other than his actual birth date. A quick call should be able to correct that.

OK, so I double-checked (well had my sister double-check that is).
Birthdate is correct on his profile.

The issue appears to be in the reservation system, IMO.

So when you book the room, you are first asked for number of guests:
4 adults
2 children
You are then asked for ages of children *at time of travel*
I put down: 7 and 3

Then, later, you add the guests themselves either manually or from your friends and family list.
When I add the *now* 6-year old, it gave an error that the ages don't match.

Anyway, put down 6 instead of 7, booked and we'll just live with it. Tickets will be purchased later, so we'll see how that goes.

I'll probably have to have my sister call and correct, since I'm not the parent, although it's correct in the MDE profile, so not sure if I'll have to call since I'm the unofficial vacation planner. Mainly because I'm anal-retentive (oh, I mean: Detail Oriented). And I don't have 2 kids driving me crazy (LOL). She said I may need a drink after spending a week with the niece and nephew. I told her I need a drink after going grocery shopping.

ha!

:)

Yes- bad IT indeed. I get tired of clearing cookies, trying a new browser, etc. and then have to call. And then wait on hold for a ... while!

I just had the same isssue as you and did the same thing (backed down their "time of travel" ages by 1.

I had to do the opposite, set my 3yo to 3 a year ago when he was 2, because the site wouldn't let me buy a ticket for him.
