The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

I just finished showing Bekka all these really neat photos of your European Extravaganza, and she, of course, loved the Good Fart.

Being like her sarcastic mom, her comment about the Schonn was, "that's it?" :lmao::lmao:

Anyway, she says she'll never rest until you confirm her adamant suspicions, that you are a physician. She says if ever anyone looked like a doctor YOU are IT!!

I told her I didn't think so, but really didn't know for sure what you DO do. (HA! that kinda came out funny.)

just can't get away from the dookie can you L?:rotfl2:

It's a scary thing.

See? I coulda left off the second "do", but I don't know if that would sound right either- grammatically speaking. Going with the more important of the 2.

Doctor? hmmmm......

Nope, not a doctor. That whole "sight of blood" thing. I'm a business analyst (glorified accountant) in a large corporation.

Funny how everything goes back to dookie sooner or later. :rotfl2:

Remember this conversation??

Bek just walked in and said, and I quote, "You know mom how Zachary Taylor had the nickname 'Old Rough and Ready'? Well, he was always dressed like a slob, and one time a new lieutenant saw him cleaning his sword behind his tent, and asked him if he'd take a dollar and clean his as well."

So, apparently, my knowledge of trivia is not quite as refined as you- when you are cleaned up. :lmao: Which according to, who was it? Cherie or Jordan you do quite nicely. :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Anyway, just wanted to correct myself, before my smarty pants daughter flamed me hard here.

Oh yeah, she's right. I guess we got confused with Teddy's "Rough Riders". I didn't pick up on it. I guess that's good -- Zachary had a better smile than Teddy.

Tree of Life/ Date Night

I had heard about this trail here on the board. Robo has a great map on the theme parks board - sure hope I can find it too. In concept it doesn't look that hard to find, but you never know.

i think the lizard thing you were wondering about is an ankylosaurus??

I think jenbear said the same thing. That seems to be the concensus.

I love how the colors of the trunk are actually varied as well. Some grays, some more brownish tones. Nice touch.

There's a dragonfly that I found that I thought was pretty nice.

You can look at it for hours and still pick out new things.

Your comment about Judy liking it and you were glad you did the research. HA! Anything to justify our habits and addictions, eh? I "do research" a lot too. :lmao:

Oh I learn a lotta stuff here....some of it even relates to Disney on occasion.

I learned the word "lagniappe" (sp?) on Blueyed Girl's thread the other day.

Date Night:

Yeah, the castlehead picture was funny. But only cuz you mentioned it. I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

You both have smiles that look like a million bucks.

Of course you didn't go to a park; it was date night.

We still came home early. Maybe this year we'll go to Jellyrolls or something after dinner.

That's 2 points for the anklyosaurus :p Oh, you've been to Toronto? How long ago was that? Was it before or after they installed flamboyant LED lights in the CN tower?

I concede that anklyosaurus was the concensus opinion.

Let's see....I went to the Science Center on my 6th grade class trip, spring of 1977. You weren't born yet. Then, I was there on a business trip probably 1997 or 1998, which is when I went up in the tower. I don't remember any LED lights.

I knew the answer!!1:banana::banana: I guess I didn't get here soon enough.

the ballerina.....welll, umm.....she must have used some good tape.

Judy worried the whole time that this ballerina would have a “wardrobe malfunction”. All I know is that it was the best ballet I’d ever seen, and I don’t even like ballet.
100_1000.jpg

The concert was the perfect end to a perfect day. When we got back to our hotel room we had another gift from PChef, a bag/backpack thing. It was intended for Senior Directors, but they mistakenly had Judy down as a Senior Director for this trip. Oh well, she deserves it!
I'm guessing Judy's worries and your worries were probably right in sync on this one ;)

Not a big ballet fan myself, but one year I had to travel up north near Christmastime and went to see the Boston Ballet do The Nutcracker. Like most people, I had seen it on TV, but being there in person was actually pretty cool, even though I didn't see anyone in danger of a wardrobe malfunction......:rolleyes1 I thought it couldn't have been better for a ballet, but then again:)

Okay...please forgive me. :flower3: I'm just now making it over here.

:welcome: tingurl! No worries...believe me I know - so many threads, so little time. Well, for example, just look at my score on the games you hold on your thread. I've got like 7 points and others are up around 30 or something. I came in late.

Anyway, I'm glad you're here!

:goodvibes

and adding the appropriate pictures to tell the story.
:thumbsup2

A picture is worth a thousand words.

You're good!

Carpet tape or something.

We were thinking about the same thing, but not in exactly the same way. :rolleyes1

It seems like I'd better get the next installment posted. You folks could go on all day about that ballerina.

I didn't realize you were that much older than me......:rotfl2:

Oh puh-leaze!

I just finished showing Bekka all these really neat photos of your European Extravaganza, and she, of course, loved the Good Fart.

Being like her sarcastic mom, her comment about the Schonn was, "that's it?" :lmao::lmao:

I meant to comment on this and forgot earlier. She might have been more impressed if I had been allowed to take pictures inside. We took a tour of the inside that took an hour or so. It was pretty incredible....magnificent huge rooms all throughout.

A question of G’s (one of my sisters) just reminded me of something else I should have written about. Before the trip, she and I debated over which side the Belgians start their 3-kisses greeting. She sent me a note saying, “don’t forget about the 3-kisses greeting, left-right-left.” And I said, “oh good. I was thinking about the greeting but couldn’t remember which side you started on.” She sent me a note back saying, “maybe it’s right-left-right.” I replied back saying, “You’re no help!” Anyway, when we found B in the airport he just gave each of us a hug. I said, “what about the 3-kisses greeting?” And he said, “not you, but I will for Judy,” and he gave her 3 kisses. I still don’t know which side he started on, it happened so fast. I think it was the left…but, it could have been the right!

Okay, let’s get back on track. I left off with the concert and everything on Wednesday night. Judy and I got up on Thursday, had our standard big buffet breakfast provided by the PChef.

100_1007.jpg

Then we took the U-bahn to the Naschmarkt. There are a lot of vendors there selling fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, wine, fish, pastries, hats, belts, shirts, watches, etc. All the vendors try to get you to come over and look at their stuff. I looked at a watch and the vendor said, “today, everything half price – business very bad.” I wanted so bad to say, “you’re so full of it!” He continued his line saying, “that watch, 10 Euros.” We said we’d keep looking and he said, “for you, 8 Euros!” We said that maybe we’d come back and he said, “you Americans are all the same.” We laughed.

100_1011.jpg

As we walked along, food vendors would try to give us samples, especially things like cheese-stuffed olives. After I took one I said I’ve got to stop doing that because you feel guilty at not buying anything, and they’re high-pressure enough as it is.

Nearby, we stopped in the café at Theater an der Wein to warm up with some coffee and hot chocolate. From there, we took pictures of the Wagner Haus and Majolica Haus, a couple of pretty buildings up the street.

Then, we moved a couple of streets over to Mariahilfer Strasse, a busier street with some shops and modern stores. Judy finally found a good charm to represent Vienna – a violin. Yeah! (Now we can stop looking in every jewelry shop!) She got one of the statue in the Grote Markt in Antwerp (the guy throwing the giant’s hand).

We took the U-bahn back to our hotel and I got a sausage from a wurstelstand across the street from our hotel. It had cheese in it and was served with mustard and a roll – yummy! I ate it back in our hotel room, and Judy lamented the fact that she didn’t think to buy any fruit at the Naschmarkt.

100_1028.jpg

She went to the café across the street, Oberlaa, to find something, while I asked the concierge to make reservations for dinner for us at Gasthaus Ubl. I caught up with Judy having some chicken salad. I ordered apfelstrudel and kaffee mélange (it’s a little less potent than their regular coffee, made with half espresso and half frothy milk). The dessert and coffee were absolutely delectable. I told Judy, “you know how people say, ‘if you could only have one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?’ – this would definitely be in the running.”

100_1029.jpg

100_1030.jpg

We took what was left of Judy’s chicken salad back to our room fridge, we could have it for lunch tomorrow (and they talk about the portions in the U.S. restaurants being too big), and we got ready for our Mozart walking tour.

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao: Perfect!

Oh and the CN tower definitely did not have the LED lights back in the 90s. It was only a couple years ago we got them...

Whoa, that buffet breakfast looks yummy!

Love the pic with the line of kids! :rotfl: All wearing the same bright yellow hat and backpack..which is a good idea for keeping track of them all!
