The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

Probably so. I was telling a co-worker the other day how good Slumdog Millionaire was, and he said something like, "I believe you, but I won't watch it." :confused3

How strange! But on the topic of Slumdog Millionaire, which really was a great film, I would also recommend reading the book. I am a bit crazy since I try to always read the book first before I see a film. So I deliberately picked this book up when the film came out last year. It's one of the few times when I loved the book and the film they made out of the book. They are slightly different from each other, but each is great in its own way.

Biscuit and Rosie- you guys are sure up early!! Isnt' it like 5:30 there??!! It's 4:30AM here, and I should be in bed, but can't sleep.

Water Wedgies hurt so bad!! My kids talked me into going on this 5 story water slide in Dubai- NEVER, never again! I mean I"ll never, never need prunes again.

Edited to say.... Obviously, 4:30 messes with my brain. Of course you're up, it's 5:30 PM! Duh!

ah, thanks for the edit. I was starting to wonder how the USA could be only one hour ahead of -stan. I realized yesterday that soon there will be some hick-up in the space-time-continuum thanks to what you Americans call Daylight Saving Time and we (and the British according to Wikipedia) call Summer Time. USA changes mid March, Europe at the End of March and -Stan appears not to change at all (?).

I prefer my version of the mice dance.....hmmm, I think you need to recreate it and post the pictures.

I have a rule for all of god's creatures.....if I invite it into my house they are welcome to be there. But if they come in univited, revenge is mine.:rolleyes1

I can now count out Crapistan and Mexico as possible vacation destinations. Lizzards and big hairy spiders....nope, I don't do those sorts of creatures.

water wedgies.....been there done that. And there isn't any polite or discreet way to de-wedgify your derrier when you get out of the pool at the bottome of the slide.
I've also had the privledge of a few water enemas from water skiing...or more appropriatly, attempting to water ski. I never could make it to full standing so I spent many attempts bouncing along with my bum hitting the water like an otter on a pogo stick.

I loved Slumdog Millionaire! I'll add the book to my list...it's so rare that a movie is as good as the book.
After seeing it I had my oldest 2 kids watch it...it halped to show them how fortunate they are.

I still don't understand the reason for changing the hours back and forth every year....but I think it's great for 1 day in the fall when I get to sleep in an hour later.
I know there is at least one state that doesn't even "do" day light savings....that confuses me even more.

Here's a good Glennbo story everyone. One spring, a long time ago in our first house, I went to the shed and got a bag of grass seed to sprinkle on some bare spots on the front lawn. There wasn't much left in the bag when I put it away back in the fall, so I had to reach waaay down in the bag. What happened next is kind of a blur. I grabbed something that didn't feel quite like grass seed. I may have heard a squeak, I'm not really sure. But I looked in and there was a nest of several baby mice. I absolutely freaked out right there on the front lawn. I threw the bag, screamed like a little girl, and did some weird dance/spinnning-around thing before I could regain my composure. Then of course I looked up and down the street to see if anyone saw me. Fortunately, no one did (that I'm aware of). I'm sure it would have made a great video.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:
That just MADE my morning!!! Thanks! :thumbsup2

I highly reccommend you take NOTHING personally from here! We're mostly just a bunch of big-mouthed jokers (well, except Cynthia who's pretty classy) who like to joke around. For the most part, no-no's don't even enter the equasions.

speedos would make me have doubts about most everything. Except what's "there". EEK! :scared1:

Don't worry, I never take anything very seriously on here, especially when glennbo is involved with the thread:) And definitely don't take much I say on here seriously either. It is all good, clean (usually) fun! BTW, I never said Glenn was the one wearing the speedos at the pool (and no, it definitely wasn't me either).

"otter on a pogo stick." Now I'm the one spewing coffee.:surfweb::laughing: I can relate. My first attempts at water skiing I had a hard time standing up to start with, but I was just getting a face full of water until I figured it out. If the water had been going elsewhere, I would have probably let go sooner!:lmao:

I know there is at least one state that doesn't even "do" day light savings....that confuses me even more.

How strange! I don't approve of that concept of having different time zones within one country either... Here in Europe nearly everywhere important has the same time or at least you have to travel across water to get a different time (I know that is a bit simplicistic - there are Portugal and Greece as well...)

Where is our host, anyways??? :confused3

I wonder about that, too. He let's us do all the hard work here!! :scared1:

I hope he is alright, though!

Sorry! This is a busy time work-wise, plus we've had a few events and things in the evenings lately, and still will for a couple of days. Last night Marlene, James and I attended a fund-raiser student vs. teacher basketball game at Marlene's school. They had a bunch of gift baskets that they raffled off that students (no, correction - parents) had contributed items for. For example, Marlene's class provided a dog-themed basket that we bought some dog toys and treats for. Anyway, Marlene bought some tickets and got a few free ones for being a contributor. She put 1 ticket in a "Shop 'til You Drop" basket and a bunch towards a Chocolate-themed basket. She won the "Shop 'til You Drop". Oodles of gift cards! She's one of those lucky people that seem to win stuff. I never do.

Tonight I have to help set up a track for a pinewood derby race, and then we'll attend that Saturday morning. So, in a nutshell, busy.

How nice. I am one of those that never win. There could be only two people and I could have the most tickets and I still lose.:confused3

They did- as much as any sadistic 11 year would. By the time I had gotten down, I didn't need the enema anymore. :scared1:

You made their day....good job Mom!

Ahem! It seems some people didn't get the keyboard protectors :confused3

Oh you and your keyboard protectors!

Okay everyone, the water wedgie thing was a joke. Just one of those things between friends. After a DISmeet and frequent encounters during the trip including our families at the Kidani pool together, I consider Glenn a good friend now and we can joke with each other without offense (at least I hope Glenn feels that way too). However, since he is picking on my designation in my siggie, I'm not sure if I should take that "no-no" comment personal......:confused3

Of course those speedos at the pool did give me some doubts.......

Yes, we can joke! But you clear up one rumor (water wedgie) and start another (speedo)?!

I was just trying to say that this smilie :surfweb: should not show someone DISing and drinking coffee at the same time. That's a dangerous combo.

I highly reccommend you take NOTHING personally from here! We're mostly just a bunch of big-mouthed jokers (well, except Cynthia who's pretty classy) who like to joke around. For the most part, no-no's don't even enter the equasions.

I was wondering about that speedos and doubts sentence until I read the next sentence. Then it was "okay, that's what I'm thinking".

You don't often hear that about books. Usually people say that the book was "so much better than the movie". I don't make the time to read a lot of novels. I've read all of the Tom Clancy books like "The Hunt For Red October" etc. etc., but that was a long time ago. And my kids have gotten me to read the Harry Potter books, but I've only gotten through a couple of them.

ah, thanks for the edit. Yeah, I didn't understand Liesa's time reference in that post either!

I prefer my version of the mice dance.....hmmm, I think you need to recreate it and post the pictures.

I don't think I could. I'm not that good an actor to recreate that moment. "Method Acting" for that scene is completely out of the question.

I'm with you, although I wouldn't rule out Mexico just yet. Tribilin can walk ahead of me and clear a path of all emotion-stirring creatures.

I've attempted water skiing 3 times and have made it to standing on the latter 2 of them. It's easy once you're up there, but darned tough getting there. But the wipe outs can be nasty.

I loved Slumdog Millionaire! I'll add the book to my list...it's so rare that a movie is as good as the book.

My oldest, 15, could probably watch it, but not pushing it yet.

Daylight savings time is the bomb.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:
That just MADE my morning!!! Thanks! :thumbsup2

At least something good came from this very traumatic moment in my life.

Glad you got around to clearing up that speedo rumor!

"otter on a pogo stick." Now I'm the one spewing coffee.:surfweb::laughing: I can relate. "Otter on a pogo stick" is an interesting visual. And yes, you can really take a beating while trying to stand up on water skis.

Here in Europe nearly everywhere important has the same time or at least you have to travel across water to get a different time (I know that is a bit simplicistic - there are Portugal and Greece as well...)

But what about the longitudinally-endowed countries? (Hey, I think I just coined another phrase! :cool1:) I mean, it's not a big deal in the longitudinally-challenged countries (just had to slip that in too), but in places in China, Russia, and perhaps the U.S. there's a pretty big difference east to west.

Crossing water makes sense as a good dividing line for time changes.

How nice. I am one of those that never win. There could be only two people and I could have the most tickets and I still lose.:confused3

I know, like I said, me too. Guess we'll have to go to DisneyWorld and get over it.

I understand different time zones here, If I on the west coast was on the same zone as say, florida I would always go to sleep when it's still light out and wake up when it's still really dark.
I just don't understand the need to change the hours forward and back every year.

Tonight I have to help set up a track for a pinewood derby race, and then we'll attend that Saturday morning. So, in a nutshell, busy.
ahhh, the joy of pinewood derbys.....sadly they are usually more of a competition between the dad's. It isn't hard to figure out which one's the boys did by themselves.

I don't think I could. I'm not that good an actor to recreate that moment. "Method Acting" for that scene is completely out of the question.

umm, have you seen the pictures I've posted? There is no acting involved:laughing:

I like how you describe us as longitudinally-endowed.:rotfl2:

Ding ding!

2 coffee spewing moments right there.

Classy :rotfl2: That's a nice way of saying I'm not nearly as funny as everyone else. I'm just grateful you all let me tag along.

Speedos :scared1: Of course that made me think of a couple of our linebacker bobsledders....who really shouldn't be encased in lycra like that.

See you need to do my version of attempting to water-ski. Chinese split face plant style.

LOTS of pressure in HS/College to water-ski, big thing out here. I tried. And tried and tried and tried. Did I mention I'm not an athlete? In any way shape or form? No natural grace or balance whatsoever?

Just.not.happening.

Nor will I drive the boat.

My mission, sadly, is to decorate. Faceplant...not attractive. But I don't think I've ever gotten a water wedgie at the levels described here. :worship: for that.

Actually Indy has different time zones within the state itself! Part of it changes, part of it does not. SO confusing. And stupid.

Ah...PWD. VERY busy! But very fun. More fun when it's over and at the actual race than leading up to it. VERY cool on the gift basket. I never win anything either. Jeff won once at a my company picnic, shocked the heck out of both of us!

longitudinally-endowed countries?

LOVE that. Thinking of other ways to use "longitudinally-endowed " in casual conversation....

I was just trying to say that this smilie :surfweb: should not show someone DISing and drinking coffee at the same time. That's a dangerous combo.

I knew what you meant. No problemmo!

But what about the longitudinally-endowed countries? (Hey, I think I just coined another phrase! :cool1:)

Excuse me but you should never coin a new phrase like this in the same post where you mention speedos....... :scared1::rolleyes1

I think I can use it as a new description for myself......chocolate has led to my longitudinally endowment.:rotfl:

I think that longitudinally endowed sounds much better than FAT!!!!:lmao:
How about the medical profession starts using it !!! Then would Tummy Tucks etc be latitudinal adjustments !!!:lmao:

I have to check PB for an Otter on a pogo stick !!!:rotfl2:
